They are still out there. this vet was found in a barn in 2004 by a developer who called a friend of mine who then purchased the car from the widow that owned the farm that she was selling for a housing project. my friend owned the car from 11/15/04 to 04/26/12 at which time I purchased the car. he was always going to restore the car but never did anything with it. it just set in his barn until I talked him out of it. I called the widow to talk about the car and she believed they were the second owner and she gave me the name and address of who she purchased the car from. I then called that person and found out they were the original purchaser of the vet and we had a great chat and they had sold the car to the second owner in 08/16/89. so I believe I am the 4th owner of this car and I do have copy's of 3 of the tittle transfers. the original owner called me about 6 weeks after that first conversation to tell me they had the protecta plate and wanted me to have it. I sent the car out for a complete off frame, ground up restoration, absolute no shortcuts were taken and received the car back on 09/17/12 at which time I had the car appraised. this is a genuine numbers match, date code match car. even the starter, alternator and carb are the ones the car came with, rebuilt of coarse. I did put radial tires on it so one could enjoy the ride and yes did upgrade the clock to quartz. I have put 148.1 miles on the car since the restore just to make sure all is well. decision time. if you are looking for a trailer queen just to bring to the shows this is it, if you are looking for a car to just drive to a few car shows this is it or if you are looking for a dependable driver this is it after all it would be your money. I could not drive the car and lower the value and I am not a car show guy so I could not make the decision. this car needs to go some where a lot of people can enjoy it. please ask all questions before bidding or come and inspect the car. all sales are final. cash, wire transfer or certified funds. certified fund must clear before pickup. you can email me your phone number and I will be happy to answer all questions or set up a time to view or if the question is does something work the answer is yes. yes they are out there. a original 1969, 427, 4 speed, convertible side pipe car in the original color, Daytona yellow with the protecta plate. don't pass this up.

to answer a lot more questions at once. the car does have tilt and telescopic steering column and yes it was completely rebuilt also. all of the chrome pieces have been rechromed. the radiator, heater core and blower motor have been replaced. the suspension has been completely rebuilt all new bushings, ball joints, etc. the gear ratio is 3.70 the astro vent system has been rebuilt and I know I am missing a lot but you should get the idea no shortcuts were taken on this car. last but not least the paint job is second to none, it is drop dead beautiful. plus the sound of that big block 427 from the factory side pipes that sound has not been rebuilt, just bone chilling

Indian tuner turns Chevy Optra into Mustang 'Eleanor' replica
Fri, 03 Aug 2012If you are a big fan of automotive oddities, this may come as a little treat. If you are a Shelby or Mustang diehard, prepare to have your sensibilities violated.
The master fabricators at BigDaddyCustoms are the minds behind what you see above. At first, it appears to be a slightly misshapen custom Mustang, modeled after "Eleanor" from Gone In 60 Seconds, but upon further examination, something appears to be amiss. In fact, the custom shop, based in India, has created an Eleanor replica grafted upon a lowly Chevrolet Optra. While it may take a second for the Optra to ring a bell, you should recognize its badge-engineered sibling, the Daewoo Lacetti, used on Top Gear.
We don't know what star would opt for the Reasonably Priced Car in Shelby's clothing, but it's clearly someone more concerned with the aesthetic than the performance credentials of this automotive mash-up.
Junkyard Gem: 2003 Chevrolet Tracker
Wed, May 22 2024When General Motors created the Geo brand to sell vehicles designed and — in some cases — built by Japanese partners, the first four models were introduced for the 1989 model year: the Metro (Suzuki Cultus), Prizm (Toyota Sprinter), Spectrum (Isuzu Gemini) and Tracker (Suzuki Sidekick). Geo got the axe in 1997, with the Metro, Prizm and Tracker becoming Chevrolets. Of those, the Tracker survived the longest, with U.S.-market sales continuing into 2004. Here's an example of a very late Tracker, found in a North Carolina car graveyard recently. The 1989-1997 first-generation Trackers were based on the Suzuki Sidekick, while the 1998-2004 Trackers had the Suzuki Vitaras (not to be confused with the much grander Grand Vitaras) as their siblings. Production of these trucks for the South American market (as the Chevrolet Vitara) continued in Ecuador all the way through 2014. The Tracker name has also gone onto some versions of the Chevrolet Trax around the world. This one is a base four-door hard top/rear-wheel-drive model, which had an MSRP of $17,330. That's about $29,789 in 2024 dollars. You'll find one in every car. You'll see. The engine is a Suzuki 2.0-liter straight-four rated at 127 horsepower and 134 pound-feet. A five-speed manual was base equipment, but very few American vehicle shoppers wanted three pedals by the middle 2000s. This truck has the Aisin four-speed automatic. We like it loud. It appears that someone associated with this truck graduated from Julius L. Chambers High School last year. In the United States, the Tracker was replaced by the Saturn Vue. If Tracker can handle (unspecified Middle Eastern country), it can survive the jungle back home. Siempre contigo.
24 Hours of Le Mans live update part two
Sun, Jun 19 2016We tasked surfing journalist Rory Parker to watch this year's live stream of the 2016 24 Hours of Le Mans. What follows is an experiment to experience the world's greatest endurance race from the perspective of a motorsports novice. Parker lives in Hawaii and can hold his breath longer than he can go without swearing. For Part One, click here. Or you can skip ahead to Part Three here. I write about surfing for a living. If you can call it a living. Basically means I spend my days fucking around and my wife pays for everything. Because she's got a real job that pays well. Brings home the bacon. Very progressive arrangement. Super twenty first century. I run a surf website, beachgrit.com, with two other guys. It's a strange gig. More or less uncensored. Kind of popular. Very good at alienating advertisers. My behavior has cost us a few bucks. I'm terrible at self-censorship. Know there's a line out there, no idea where it lies. I still don't understand any of the technical side. Might as well be astrophysics or something. For contests I do long rambling write ups. They rarely make much sense. Mainly just talk about my life, whatever random thoughts pop into my head. "Can you do something similar for Le Mans?" "Sure, but I know absolutely fuck-all about racing." "That's okay. Just write what you want." "Will do. But you're gonna need to edit my stuff. Probably censor it heavily." So here I am. I spent the last week trying to learn all I can about the sport of endurance racing. But there's only so much you can jam in your head. And I still don't understand any of the technical side. Might as well be astrophysics or something. While I rambled things were happening. Tracy Krohn spun into the gravel on the Forza chicane. #89 is out of the race after an accident I missed. Pegasus racing hit the wall on the Porsche curves. Bashed up front end, in the garage getting fixed. Toyota and Porsche are swapping back and forth in the front three. Ford back in the lead in GTE Pro. #91 Porsche took a stone through the radiator, down two laps. Not good. The wife and I are one of those weird childless couples that spend way too much time caring for the needs of their pet. French bulldog, Mr Eugene Victor Debs. Great little guy. Spent the last four years training him to be obedient and friendly. Nice thing about dogs, when you're sick of dealing with them you can just lock 'em in another room for a few hours. You don't need to worry about paying for college.
