If you have any questions feel free to email me at: burmabluett@juno.com .
This is a frame off/nut and bolt restored 1968 Corvette Convertible 427 Tri Power 435hp 4 Speed with only 65,456
miles. It is a NUMBERS MATCHING motor, transmission and rear end. The current and third owner has had this car
for 25 years since 1991. Just about every piece of this car has been replaced or restored. The car was
disassembled, the body separated from the frame, the body stripped and prepped and repainted in January of 2006.
The car was then reassembled with many new parts, restored original parts and a few original parts that were good
enough to reuse as is. The frame was media blasted, painted, and reassembled with all new suspension components,
Bilstein shocks, stainless brake lines, gas tank, new body mounts, etc. The original numbers matching 427ci 435hp
engine was rebuilt to factory specs with all new internals. It was also dipped clean and repainted correct. The
original 3x2 tri power intake and carbs were rebuilt, installed and adjusted. All new hoses, belts, radiator,
clutch, motor mounts, stainless exhaust, wiring and all the other ancillary parts are new but the original
alternator was rebuilt and installed. The braking system is new from front to back and top to bottom including
stainless sleeved brake calipers and silicone brake fluid. We have carefully documented all the work with every
receipt as well as notes from the rebuild. The original Muncie M22 transmission and 3.55:1 Heavy Duty
Positraction rear end were also rebuilt and restored to factory specs. I have provided all of the stamping
numbers and codes from the car farther down the page. The body was painted back to the correct #976 International
Blue before being reassembled. New bonding strips were installed before paint and body work. The car comes with
extra paint for future use. All of the body gaps are very nice and even, the bird cage and frame are original and
solid. The original bumpers were rechromed and are beautiful. The new BF Goodrich Radials are wrapped around 8"
Rally Wheels with trim rings and hubcaps. The original hubcaps are included with the sale but not on the car.
The original Firestone Super Sport Wide Oval spare tire is in the spare tire carrier and still holds air. The
convertible top is brand new and put down for the first time in these pictures. The interior sports the
original dashboard and steering wheel as well as the seats in #414 Medium Blue vinyl. All of the gauges and
accessories work as designed including the power windows, wipers, headlights less the fiber optics in the console.
The carpet, door panels, visors and other trim pieces are brand new. While the interior is currently set up as
a radio delete, the original radio is included. This car runs and drives flawlessly. It drives straight with no
pulling and stops on a dime. As you can see from the pictures, this car is a show stopper for the casual observer
up to and including the seasoned collector.

IIHS: High numbers of drivers treat partially automated cars as fully self-driving
Tue, Oct 11 2022WASHINGTON — Drivers using advanced driver assistance systems like Tesla Autopilot or General Motors Super Cruise often treat their vehicles as fully self-driving despite warnings, a new study has found. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), an industry funded group that prods automakers to make safer vehicles, said on Tuesday a survey found regular users of Super Cruise, Nissan/Infiniti ProPILOT Assist and Tesla Autopilot "said they were more likely to perform non-driving-related activities like eating or texting while using their partial automation systems than while driving unassisted." The IIHS study of 600 active users found 53% of Super Cruise, 42% of Autopilot and 12% of ProPILOT Assist owners "said that they were comfortable treating their vehicles as fully self-driving." About 40% of users of Autopilot and Super Cruise — two systems with lockout features for failing to pay attention — reported systems had at some point switched off while they were driving and would not reactivate. "The big-picture message here is that the early adopters of these systems still have a poor understanding of the technologyÂ’s limits," said IIHS President David Harkey. The study comes as the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is scrutinizing Autopilot crashes. Since 2016, the NHTSA has opened 37 special investigations involving 18 deaths in crashes involving Tesla vehicles and where systems like Autopilot were suspected of use. Tesla did not respond to requests for comment. Tesla says Autopilot does not make vehicles autonomous and is intended for use with a fully attentive driver who is prepared to take over. GM, which in August said owners could use Super Cruise on 400,000 miles (643,740 km) of North American roads and plans to offer Super Cruise on 22 models by the end of 2023, did not immediately comment. IIHS said advertisements for Super Cruise focus on hands-free capabilities while Autopilot evokes the name used in passenger airplanes and "implies TeslaÂ’s system is more capable than it really is." IIHS in contrast noted ProPILOT Assist "suggests that itÂ’s an assistance feature, rather than a replacement for the driver." NHTSA and automakers say none of the systems make vehicles autonomous. Nissan said its name "is clearly communicating ProPILOT Assist as a system to aid the driver, and it requires hands-on operation.
2015 Chevy Volt gets larger battery, though range remains the same
Sat, Jul 19 2014The Chevrolet Volt isn't changing much for the 2015 model year. According to specifications uncovered by Inside EVs, though, the new Volt's battery does have a slightly larger capacity. According to the spec sheet, this doesn't translate to increased range. Real world driving, though, might tell a different story. The 2015 Volt's battery storage is slightly higher than the outgoing model's, up from 16.5 kilowatt-hours to 17.1 kWh. According to GM's manager of electrification technology communications, Kevin Kelly, speaking to Green Car Reports, the increased capacity is "a late change done in the cell... just another continuous improvement to surprise and delight our customers." The stated electric range, however, stays at 38 miles. Inside EVs followed up on its original report, and found that drivers could see some advantage to the battery tweak. When they spoke to Kelly, he told them, "As a result of this change, we would expect that some customers may see a slight improvement in overall EV range." It's worth noting that when battery capacity increased from 16 kWh to 16.5 kWh for the 2013 Volt, electric range increased by three miles to the current 38, while MPGe went from 94 to 98. The price of the 2015 Chevrolet Volt remains steady, at $34,995. The actual cost to the customer is considerably less with the $7,500 federal tax credit, as well as any local incentives.
The story of the 2014 Chevrolet SS: "Luxury, power, refinement, handling"
Thu, 07 Mar 2013Not including the women and men who built it, the 2014 Chevrolet SS has only been seen in person by a piddling number of people - fewer humans than would fill the gymnasium at a high school volleyball game. Not including the men and women who built it, no one has driven it. Even so, it is already saddled with two controversies: the way it looks and the way it shifts.
First to that shifting. Did we love the last Americanized Holden, the awesomely sportsome Pontiac G8 GXP, and its six-speed manual? Of course. Do we wish the SS came with a six-speed manual? Of course. But we'd like a toboggan to come with a manual transmission. We'd put a manual transmission on a weasel if we could because we're just wired that way; if it moves, it should come with a stick and a clutch. Or at least the option.
Let's climb down off the ledge, though. We haven't driven the SS and we have no idea how good (or not) the automatic is. And the Hobson's Choice in transmissions when it comes to sport sedans like the BMW M5, Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG and Jaguar XFR-S and, oh yeah, cars-that-really-should-have-manuals like the Audi R8 and Nissan GT-R and Porsche 918 and every single Lamborghini and Ferrari, for instance, hasn't stopped us from enjoying what is clearly the gruesome, dual-clutched demise of Western automotive civilization. Because in spite of our ululations at the dying of the six-speed light, we understand.
