1966 Chevrolet Corvette on 2040-cars
Holualoa, Hawaii, United States
1966 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray convertible with hard top.
327 CID 300 HP V8, Powerglide automatic transmission, power steering, AM/FM radio with power antenna, Knock-off
wheels, teak steering wheel, and luggage rack.
Matching numbers. Mileage slightly over 27k. Still has original jack and lead hammer although one side has been
used. It comes with the factory seat covers to keep the occupants cool in the summer. They still look new. I have
the original security plate from the first owner in the back of the factory manual.
Everything works except the tachometer. I have replaced the tach drive gear once but it seems the distributor is
the issue. Car runs great so it hasn't been a priority. Paint has a few minor imperfections but is still glossy and
in incredible shape. The washer bottle is old and brittle so I don't keep any liquid in it but the pump runs fine.
The only part that has been replaced and should not have been is the carburetor. It's still the correct size
Holley but it has an electric choke, not the factory manifold choke.
Things I've done:
* Garage kept and covered for the entire time I've owned it.
* Only oil with sacrificial metals used (lucas high zinc) and not just off the shelf stuff.
* New brake calipers all the way around. They are notorious for leaking if not replaced as the factory ones were
made from inferior metals. New master cylinder as well.
* Added small electric fan on the radiator. (Does not interfere with factory setup and is not spliced into factory
wiring)
* New alternator.
* Lead additive with every fill up.
This car is in amazing condition.

There once was a time when Daewoo was one of the biggest companies in South Korea. It was larger than both LG and Samsung, and second only to Hyundai. But these days the name is all but gone.
Foreign automakers pay from $38 to $65 per hour to non-union workers
Sun, Mar 29 2015As leaders for the United Auto Workers gather in Detroit for their Special Convention on Collective Bargaining to work out the negotiating stance for this year's new labor agreements with the Detroit 3 automakers, what they most want to do is figure out how to eliminate the two-tier wage scale. However, the lower Tier 2 wage has allowed the domestic automakers to reduce their labor costs, hire more workers, and compete better with their import competition. As it stands, per-hour labor rates including benefits are $58 at General Motors, $57 at Ford, and $48 at Fiat-Chrysler – a reflection of FCA's much greater number of Tier 2 workers. The Center for Automotive Research released a study of labor rates (including benefits) that put numbers to what the imports pay: Mercedes-Benz pays the most, at an average of $65 per hour, Volkswagen pays the least, at $38 per hour, and BMW is just a hair above that at $39 per hour. Among the Detroit competitors, Honda workers earn an average of $49 per hour, at Toyota it's $48 per hour, Nissan is $42 per hour, and Hyundai-Kia pays $41 per hour. The lower import wages are aided by their greater use of temporary workers compared to the domestics. Automotive News says the ten-dollar gap between those foreign camakers and the domestics turns out to about an extra $250 per car in labor, which adds up quickly when you're pumping out many millions of cars. That $250-per-car number is one that, come negotiating time, the Detroit 3 will want to reduce, as the UAW is trying to raise both Tier 1 and Tier 2 wages. Another wrinkle is that the domestic carmakers are considering the wide adoption of a third wage level lower than Tier 2. Some workers who do minor tasks like assembling parts trays kits and battery packs already make less than Tier 2, but the UAW will be quite wary about cementing yet another wage scale at the bottom of the system while it's trying to fight a bigger battle at the top. GM 6.2L V8 claims most powerful light-duty truck engine title
Thu, 12 Sep 2013General Motors has officially captured the horsepower crown for mainstream pickup trucks with its 6.2-liter V8. The big mill, available in both the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra, comes to market with 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, handily outdoing its two cross-town competitors, Ram (5.7-liter V8, 395 ponies and 407 lb-ft) and Ford (6.2-liter V8, 411 hp and 434 lb-ft).
The new GM 6.2 will take a bit of an investment, though. Those that want the extra thrust will need to go with either the LTZ or High Country trims from the Chevy, or the SLT and Denali trims from GMC, which are the two highest trim levels for the respective vehicles. Trim levels aside, if you're in the business of towing, GM has you covered. Optioned with the 6.2-liter V8 and the Max Trailering Package, owners will be able to pull 12,000 pounds, a hugely impressive figure.
We still aren't certain as to what sort of economy the new engine will get, but it'll probably be a bad bet for the fuel conscious. As for availability, expect to see the 6.2-liter trucks in showrooms later in the fall.
