1964 - Chevrolet Corvette on 2040-cars
Adelanto, California, United States
1964 Corvette Coupe L84 327 375HP PB, being sold without the fuel injection unit. Engine: It has a 327 fully rebuilt. Old parts used inside the engine are the crank, rods, block and heads. All other parts inside block were replaced. I built this engine to speck, solid cam (Duntov 30/30) factory hi compression pistons and all other needed bits & pieces. Outside the engine I used the original starter (date coded) Water Pump, Fuel Pump and deep sump oil pan. I had the engine rebuilt with a winters intake and holly carb. This combination dynode out at 375HP @6400 RPM. The modifications on this engine are, distributor changed to electric pickup, rocker arms upgraded and the valve studs changed to thread in units. I have a complete and restored fuel injection unit with K66 ignition that I was going to sell with this car, but changed my mind. If interested in this setup, email me. Transmission : 4 speed, M21 close ratio Rear : Was a 456 Posi rear. When I pulled it for a rebuild, I changed the ratio to 411. Fully rebuilt with under 200 miles on it. Suspension : I replaced the front sway bar end links, rear shocks, rear spring and end links. The tires have less than 1000 miles on them. Every thing else has unknown wear/miles on it. Body: It now has a good coat of silver on it, but it was dark blue (Daytona Blue) when it left the factory. The emblems are shinny, but have some paint loss. Sometime before I owned this car, someone had all the wheel wells flared out. When this was corrected back to a factory look, the job wasn't done so well. Although the paint is good, the body would be considered driver quality. Interior: Now black, the factory color was two tone, Dark Blue and White. The current seat covers are a little worn with slight rips on the upper inner sides of them. The carpet is a bit faded and the door panels look good. I had the steering collum rebuilt and the dash wiring harness replaced a while back. Misc : I had the engine harness replaced with the engine rebuild. I replaced the headlamp wiring to remedy a headlamp that wouldn't open properly. I replaced the alternator with a 130 amp unit. It really makes a difference on the brightness of the tail lamps. The license plates on the car have been updated to old black plates though the state DMV and come with the car. Runs/Drives: Starts up easy, idles well, runs good. Has Power brakes, stops good for 4 wheel drum brakes.

1956 Corvette SR-2 factory racer profiled
Mon, Jan 19 2015The Chevrolet Corvette has earned its place as America's sports car, capable of taking on the best the world can throw at it. Much of that winning reputation was earned with victories on the track. Now, there was a chance to own an early piece of the nameplate's motorsport history in the form of a 1956 Corvette SR-2 racer, but some deep pockets were necessary to get it, with an estimate of $6.885 million. The story behind the SR-2 is fascinating. In 1956, famous General Motors designer Harley Earl's son was racing in a Ferrari. Obviously, that wasn't going to work given his father's position within the automaker, and Harley and Corvette engineer Zora Arkus-Duntov got to work on a faster racecar. Three were made. This one was reportedly the first, and for 1957 it also received a fuel-injected V8 making a claimed 331 horsepower and four-speed manual gearbox, according to "Corvette Mike," the owner and seller. The SR-2 went on display in Scottsdale, AZ appropriately timed to coincide with the big Barrett-Jackson auction there that wrapped up this weekend. The car wasn't part of that event; instead marque specialist Mike Vietro sold the racer as a private treaty sale. Company spokesperson Troy Worrell told Autoblog both the bids and identities of the bidders will remain undisclosed. The video above goes into even deeper detail about this rare, finned Vette or check out the car's full description for even more info.
Chevy reveals new IndyCar aero package
Tue, Feb 17 2015The IndyCar Series is not one that demands its participating teams and automakers to design their own chassis as they do in Formula One, but for this season, the organizers have opened it up to allow for custom aero packages. What you're looking at here is the new look of the chassis to be fielded by teams running under Chevy power. Based on the Dallara DW12 chassis – introduced three years ago and named after the late Dan Wheldon – Chevy's new package is designed for road courses and short ovals, with the speedway configuration to be revealed later. The kit features new wings front and rear and more sculpted side pods. It's also got new wedges at the back to envelop the otherwise open wheels that are a hallmark of Indy racing, a more streamlined engine cover and bigger rear bumper pods. The new package will debut at the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg that will kick off this year's championship in Florida on March 29, followed by the road-course grands prix in Louisiana, Long Beach, Alabama and Indianapolis before the new package needs to be ready for the Indy 500 late in May. Half of the teams on the starting grid this season will be running under Chevy power and are expected to use this new aero kit, with the remaining Honda teams slated to run a different package of their own. Chevrolet Debuts All-New 2015 IndyCar Aero Package Chevy-developed bodywork delivers improved aerodynamics 2015-02-17 INDIANAPOLIS – Chevrolet-powered racecars in the 2015 Verizon IndyCar Series will feature Chevrolet-developed aero packages. Chevrolet introduced the road course/short oval body design today at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. It is distinguished from the previous racecar with new front wing elements, sculpted side pods and a new rear wing. A speedway configuration for the aero kit, designed for high-speed ovals, will be introduced ahead of its competitive debut at Indianapolis in May. "This is an important milestone in Chevrolet's involvement in IndyCar racing," said Jim Campbell, General Motors U.S. vice president of Performance Vehicles and Motorsports. "We focused on developing an aerodynamic package that delivers an balanced combination of downforce and drag, along with integrated engine performance. It's a total performance package." The new Chevy road course aero configuration delivers greater aerodynamic performance than the previous design.
Man spent $75 on a truck that lasted 38 years
Mon, Jan 5 2015Absurd as it is, some buyers today are worried about getting their car to last throughout the term of their seven-year car loan. Minnesota resident Bob Sportel has the opposite issue: his Chevrolet truck seemingly won't die. Sportel needed a cheap ride to get to work when he took a job at a farmer's co-op 38 years ago, so he bought a rusty 1957 Chevy pickup for $75 from a farmer; at the time, the 20-year-old truck was almost as old as Bob was. After nearly four decades of daily driving and an estimated 300,000 miles, Sportel is still driving the truck today. Bolts secure a fender, Bondo secures the lights, what looks like a whole roll of duct tape keeps him sitting on the bench seat instead of in it. For a 58-year-old pickup that's never seen a garage or a new coat of paint – but did get its oil changed four times a year – that's not bad; Sportel thinks his repair bill hasn't got above $1,000 for the entire time he's owned the truck. He still has no plans to get rid of it, saying, "It just becomes a part of you." You can watch his story in the video above. News Source: KARE11.com Chevrolet Truck Classics Videos
