Visually the Corvette changed very little in its first three years of production. However 1956 will mark the Corvettes first major stylistic makeover. Retaining the aggressive grill design of the prior models, the frontal styling of the 1956 was modified significantly, with new fender accommodating chrome around headlights mounted higher and no longer covered by prior wire mesh stone guards. For the first time the Corvette received his new iconic side coves and clean sloping rear fenders with neatly integrated taillight. The Corvette also received a pair of roll up windows, technically changing the car from a roadster to a convertible body style. 2 265 cubic inch V-8 engines were now available, reflecting the relentless development that had just begun on the soon to be legendary small block V-8 engine. The bulk of the 1956 Corvette production Numbering 3080 cars, was equipped with the duel quad solid lifter engine producing a stout 225 brake horsepower.
The car offered here is just that engine and is finished in onyx black with silver coves and red interior, as presented following a body off professional restoration from Arizona a few years ago. In addition to the duel quad engine the Corvette is equipped with the three speed close ratio manual transmission that was standard in 1956 . AM/FM cassette radio (after market). All of the cars gauges work including the clock, and the interior is of the correct pattern. The wheels are shod in white wall radial tires for improve modern drivability. The car is in outstanding condition and runs and drives as well as it looks. This car has the correct all original drive train engine, tranny rear end etc. The corvette being from out west the all painted chassis looks as correct and good as the day it rolled off the assembly line. there is nothing on this car that doesn't appear new or as well as everything working correctly. The bright work shines like new. Here is an opportunity to win this blue chip piece of history corvette that you can enjoy as well as a good solid investment.
If you found this same car, Turbo-Fire 225 hp 265 cubic inch engine OHV-V8 with dual four barrel carburetors and solid lifter camshaft, three speed close ratio manual transmission, independent front suspension, semi elliptical leaf springs, and four wheel hydraulic drum brakes that just came off a rotisserie body off restoration like the one offered here you would be paying 100,000 dollars and up. This car appears to be as close to a fresh restoration as could be with all the bugs worked out with just a few thousand miles since restoration.

Chevy SS prototype spotted wearing Pontiac G8 clothes
Tue, 28 Aug 2012
Do not adjust your computer screen, you are not seeing the rebirth of the Pontiac brand. General Motors has chosen to use a G8 to disguise a test mule for the latest prototype of the forthcoming Chevrolet SS. The G8 was closely related to the Holden Commodore and Vauxhall VXR, the platform upon which the new Chevrolet performance model will be based. It should come as little surprise, then, that GM has opted to use the cladding from the former G8.
Thought the front clip of this mule is pure Pontiac, note the vents immediately behind the front wheel. That is a distinctive design hallmark of the Vauxhall VXR. Also note that this vehicle is right-hand drive, as the Holden and its Chevy counterpart will be very closely related. That likely includes potential drivetrains. The spy photos of this mule also reveal very wide rear tires, and rear wheels that do not match the fronts.
Chevy Corvette gets Valet Mode with Performance Data Recorder [w/video]
Mon, 18 Aug 2014For the 2015-model-year, Chevrolet introduces Valet Mode for the Corvette, an enhancement to the Performance Data Recorder (PDR) already available and to your peace of mind. The PDR already captures 720p HD video with a windshield-mounted camera, records interior audio with a cabin microphone and gathers telemetry data using GPS, saving the data to an SD card in the glovebox. You can then watch your track-day antics with various information overlays on the center console screen.
Valet Mode will let you hit 'Replay' when your car gets pulled up front smelling vaguely of fricasseed clutch. Turned on by entering a four-digit code, it also locks the interior storage spaces and turns off the infotainment system. It can't be turned off until the code is re-entered. There's a press release below with more information as well as a video that explains how it works, with the obligatory dig at the 'Vette's biggest foe.
Pure Vision Design TT Camaro has 1,400 reasons to want it
Wed, 06 Nov 2013We've talked about Pure Vision Design before, a California-based company that made waves at last year's SEMA show with its Martini-liveried, Indy-car-powered Ford Mustang. That same car later starred in a Petrolicious video we showed you just a few weeks back. The company's latest creation is a menacing car it calls the Pure Vision Design TT Camaro. Based on a 1972 model, this car shares the Martini Mustang's clean styling and obsession with details.
Unlike the Mustang, which draws its power from a mid-60s Lotus-Ford Indycar engine, the "TT" in this Camaro's name implies something far more potent. The Nelson Racing Engines 427-cubic-inch V8 has been fitted with a pair of turbochargers, with a claimed output of 1,400 horsepower. That's almost 1,000 more than the Martini Mustang.
A six-speed Magnum transmission dispatches that power to the ground, while Pirelli PZero tires are tasked with (somehow) trying to grip the road. Baer brakes hide behind those HRE rims, while JRI coilovers and HyperTech springs bless the Camaro with some degree of competency in the bends.
