Rare 1964 Corvair Corvan Camper on 2040-cars

Year:1964 Mileage:113000
Location:

Advertising:

Beautifully restored and drivable; new brakes; no rust, clean inside & out, reliable and eye-catching. New Optima battery, everything works as it should. All the glass is clear and not cracked and the weather stripping is new as well. No rips in the upholstery; however the headliner over the driver cab is out for repair but should be back soon.

VW Vans of the same era are getting very expensive but this van is more powerful and more unique while being roomier and able to keep up with traffic thanks to a six-cylinder rear-mounted air cooled 110 horsepower passenger car engine. Equipped with a manual four-speed transmission it gets 27 or so mpg on the highway and is a fun driver. This is the most fun vintage car you can have as it's economical, reliable and truly eye-catching.

Van was restored 7 years ago with new paint and upgrades throughout. A solid vehicle that will stand out at a car show - it has won several first-place trophies. No repairs are imminent and the van has been maintained thoroughly while I've had her.

The original owner outfitted the van with a Riviera Camper kit which is similar in configuration to a VW Camper of the same era with a closet, dining table and fold-down seat that makes into a bed. This makes sitting at a car show a lot of fun because you bring your table and chairs and shade along with you. The interior features astro turf carpeting and a tiki motif throughout.

Selling due to imminent tax situation which sucks for me but can be good for you.

I will assist with the delivery however I can but delivery is your responsibility. Vehicle is located north of Napa in Northern California (Clear Lake area). More photos are available at www.curbside.tv/corvair

The Volt Dance had precedent; meet the Chevy Footlockers

Sun, Dec 14 2014

Marketing in the auto industry can get weird sometimes – really quite bizarre, in fact. For example, remember the Chevy Volt dance from the 2009 Los Angles Auto Show? If not, a group boogied to a song about the electric car, and it was every bit as awkward (and hilarious) as that sounds. In fact, that innocent bit of promotion lives in infamy, as some pundits grabbed hold of it during General Motors' bailout and asked why America's tax dollars were going to such things. The Chicago Auto Show has been digging through its vault of vintage videos, and it has come up with something that might actually be worse than that Volt-themed routine. They're called the Chevy Footlockers, and they're a dance troupe somehow promoting the Cavalier at the 1988 Chicago show. The connection between the car and their routine is unclear, but it's gloriously cheesy in a Chippendales-meets-AC Slater sort of way. Also, there are props towards the end, but we aren't going to spoil them for you, because you just have to watch for yourself. As a bonus, there's another (brief) clip below showing a female dance group with the Geo Tracker at the '91 Chicago show, and they sing, too. Scroll down to watch both of these oddities. Are you the 2014 Corvette Grand Sport?

Thu, 21 Feb 2013

When are stripes more than just stripes? Follow up question: Is the product development team at Chevrolet really cocky enough to hide the next C7 Corvette variant in plain sight? This very recently spotted, and ostensibly obscured C7 asks a lot more questions than it answers, but there's at least some evidence to support that it might be the next Corvette Grand Sport.
The first and most obvious tip-off that something is up with this 'Vette revolves around those silver stripes. Obviously the stripes themselves don't necessarily denote a new model. However, when Chevy recently launched its "colorizer" website for the Stingray, there was no provision made for racing stripes - solid colors only.
Grand Sport exhibit number two is actually an incriminating lack of badges. The production Corvettes we've seen to date have all carried Stingray badges on their fenders, just behind the vent. The car seen in these images has no such badges, which is an intriguing omission on an car that looks like a production-spec vehicle otherwise.

Chevy Volt gets customer satisfaction 'recall' for rear hatch issue *UPDATE*

Mon, Jan 26 2015

Last week, General Motors has issued a "Customer Satisfaction program" for some 2011-2015 model year Chevrolet Volts to fix the manual rear lift gate not working as appropriate. According to Volt owner posts on Facebook, the problem manifests itself by the hatch not opening up all the way (sometimes worse in the cold) with some people bumping their heads. Dealers will replace the lift gate struts as part of the program. Some drivers were notified through the vehicle's OnStar system that there is a problem. GM has not yet said how many Volts are affected. *UPDATE* This program is for all 2011-2015 model year Volts. Chevrolet spokesperson Michelle Malcho told AutoblogGreen that, "This is not a recall, so there won't be any formal information posted on the GM website." The fixes will be free to affected Volt owners. Some 2010-2015 Cadillac SRX vehicles are also affected by the same problem and will also be fixed.
