Up for bid is my 1966 Chevrolet Yenko Stinger Corvair. Please note that this is a TRUE, DOCUMENTED Yenko and is NOT a clone or tribute car. Yenko Stinger 054 (YS-054) is completely restored to original condition, just as delivered to Yenko Chevrolet in late 1965. This is a Stage II "Street Stinger" with just a few ticks over 56,000 documented miles. It is a VERY rare and significant car. The Stinger was Yenko's first car that he went through the COPO process through and let to his Camero's, Chevelles, Novas, Vegas etc. The Stinger Corvair is the ONLY car he specifically modified for road racing. YS-054 is one of the original 100 COPO Corvairs ordered by Don Yenko and convered into his intended for road racing Stingers. I encourage you to go to Yenkostinger.com and/ or Yenkostinger.org for further knowledge and research on Stinger Corvairs as well as the official registry. It is estimated that approximatly 60-75 Stingers are still in existance today. WAY fewer are original, documented, numbers matching cars, in their original tub like YS-054. I purchased the car from owner #2 in the spring of 2007 in Indianapolis Indiana and immedietly began its nearly 5 year restoration. Much of the front (drivers side) floor was rusted as was much of the bottom portions of the car. (inner fender wells, tunnel cover, front and portions of the rear suspension). Otherwise, the car is in its original body, fiberglass sail panels and decck lid, has its original (numbers matching) engine, transmission, and posi-differential. The car is highly documented and purchase will include the original Protecto-plate, and lots of YS-# affixed to the drivers door jamb, and paperwork including original order form and repair/ work orders made from Yenko Chevrolet. One of the documents is signed by Frank Yenko (Don's father and original owner of Yenko Chevrolet). This particular car came as a radio delete car from the factory but the original owner purchased and had an AM radio installed. He also upgraded the car with Michelin tires at time of purchase. Additionally, he added a Grant steering wheel from Yenko within a few months of purchase. The car is pictured with 15" steel wheels and Toyo Proxy tires. This is for driving purposes and the sale does include the original 13" steel wheels and a set of well used 13" tires. During restoration the car was completely stripped, body work performed (replaced inner fenders, floors, and some damage around the front windshield and rear window). The engine was completely rebuilt as well as the transmission, differential and suspension all by Corvair Specialties. All crome (in and out) was re-cromed to show specs. Stainless was straightened and polished. During restoration the original windshield was cracked during removal and replaced. ALL other glass on the car is original. The dash and gauges were sent to Precision Dash and Gauges and rebuilt/ restored. Original milage was not tampered with during gauge restoration. Everything works properly and as it should. That includes all electrical. The horn, all exterior and interior lights, turn signals, radio (though it does not pick up good reception, it does turn on and off with static) clock- (though it keeps poor time), odometer, wipers, glove box light, etc. This is a rare opportunity to own a true and VERY rare Yenko car. YS-054 was recently awarded 1st in class at the Dana Point Concours de'Elegance (2013), and has various other awards and appearances in car shows. Please call or email with additional questions. (949)370-2142. Serious bidders only. The car is being offered for sale locally and on several collector car sites privately so the auction can be ended early. I encourage you to come and inspect the car or have a representative perform an inspection. Buyer is responsible for shipping. Title will be signed and transferred after funds are cleared and deposited into my account.

There once was a time when Daewoo was one of the biggest companies in South Korea. It was larger than both LG and Samsung, and second only to Hyundai. But these days the name is all but gone.

Body shop manager stole over $500,000 worth of government trucks and parts

Fri, Jan 27 2017

The US Department of Justice announced yesterday that the manager of a collision and restoration business in Virginia admitted he helped misappropriate and sell vehicles and parts from the State Department. Specifically, he sold 12 Chevrolet Suburbans, a Hummer, and $7,500 worth of tires and wheels. He pled guilty to charges to commit theft of government property and wire fraud. He will likely see 18 to 20 months in prison, a fine of $4,000 to $40,000, and has already agreed to pay restitution of $416,020 and asset forfeiture of the same amount. According to the Department of Justice, the body shop manager, James Ratcliffe, worked with the owner of the business and a State Department official, both unnamed, to obtain the property. It started with the wheels and tires, which were delivered and sold on two occasions, one in 2011 and another in 2012. The trucks came later, and were sold throughout 2011 and 2013. Ratcliffe and the shop owner kept most of the profits, and shared some of the leftovers with the government official. In addition to the vehicles that were sold, the government official also gave Ratcliffe a pair of Suburbans for his own personal use. The Department of Justice estimated the total value of the SUVs at $96,400. In total, the group misappropriated $512,420 worth of property. Related Video:
