This is a nice daily driver that looks good from 20 feet. Mechanically I would rate it an 8-9, Exterior is a 7, and interior is a 6. Rust in lower front fender at rear, some spots along the front and rear windshields but they have not changed or gotten any larger in the five years I have owned it. I think it was poor prep during the repaint many years ago. Floor pans,, rockers,,, and all the main structure is rust free. I posted a video on youtube search 66 corvair for sale. "underside" and the same heading with "topside" no quotation marks. The engine was disassembled to replace the original leaking oil seals, a valve, ring job was done at that time. I bought 7 Corvairs at one time from a collector and just have lost interest in keeping them all going along with my other cars and motorcycles. This is the last running one that I have. Three years ago I trailered it 4500 miles behind my motor home as transportation during a vacation and have no problems driving it anywhere. It went up and down the mountains and across flat lands at 98 degrees without a complaint. If you need a show car this is not it. However if you'd like a neat, inexpensive car to run around town and draw attention where ever you go this is it. It has been stored indoors and driven very little in the past couple years. The carbs prob need cleaning and the oil needs changing. I run Premium with no alcohol in all my classic cars to avoid problems but it seems to hesitate a little when I drove it today. Brakes where done when I freshened the engine. The seats look good, door panels need some attention, loose seams,, but are useable. The carpet needs replacing, the head linner is good but most of the plastic window trim needs replacing. The gas gauge is not working. Missing the radio and ash tray but I may have those in one of my parts cars. The factory air has been working in past but I noticed a leak at the rear of the compressor the last time I tried to charge it. Seal kits are cheap, easy to replace, and available from Corvair vendors. I believe you could, (should be able to) drive it home but you and I know that anything can break down, even new cars.Take a look at the pictures and the two Youtube videos. I have done my best to discribe it but no text is as good as a conversation. I can type 25 woods a minute but I can talk 200, LOL. Call me and see if its something that suits you. Don 318-773-9693 before 9 PM central please..$200 deposit due a close of auction per paypal. Balance to follow per certified funds within 7 days. I have used Freightcenter.com for shipping cars and recommend them but shipping or pick up is your deal. Storage for a while is not a problem.

Personal testimonies show real-world effect of plugging in with Chevy Volt
Mon, Jan 13 2014At this point, there are tens of thousands of individual stories about what it's like to live with a Chevrolet Volt. But it also remains informative to take a look at one of these in depth. For example, one Atlanta-area Volt owner says he's cut his cents-per-mile ownership costs by almost 40 percent compared to his previous car primarily because of his ability to drive almost all the time on electric power. Jeffrey Cohen told Clean Technica that he put about 14,000 miles on his Volt extended-range plug-in hybrid for the year that ended October 2013, and that more than 92 percent of those were on electrons. He estimates his "lifetime" miles per gallon rating at a whopping 384 mpg, a figure pushed upward by the fact that he installed a Level 2 charger at home while his employer added an external 110-volt charger at work. Cohen is spending 45 cents a mile for his car, compared to 73 cents in his Infiniti M35. As a result, he's spending 45 cents a mile for his car, compared to 73 cents a mile with his prior vehicle, an Infiniti M35. About two-thirds of those Volt costs are for the $349-a-month lease payments, while 15 percent is insurance, 11 percent is for the charger and seven percent for the gas and electricity that actually powers the car. Helping lower that last figure is an overnight electricity rate that's about 10 percent of Cohen's daytime rate. Chevy parent General Motors hopes such testimonies will re-trigger sales for the Volt in 2014. Last year, GM sold 23,094 Volts, down 1.6 percent from 2012. We expect our readers have similar stories they'd like to share in the Comments. Pics Aplenty: Meet the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra [w/poll]
Thu, 13 Dec 2012Today was a pretty big day for General Motors, debuting the all-new Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra light-duty pickup trucks ahead of their official showcase at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show. And now that the dust has settled at GM's big reveal event, we've had a chance to snap dozens of photos of the new pickup pair from every angle.
We already told you the important bits earlier today (click here in case you missed it), but let's recap. Under the hood are three new engines - a 4.3-liter V6, 5.3-liter V8 and 6.2-liter V8 (you know, a version of the small-block that'll also be found under the hood of the C7 Corvette), all mated to six-speed automatic transmissions. The 2014 model year marks the return of the Z71 off-road package with Rancho shocks, front tow hooks and beefier underbody protection. Inside, there's a host of new technology and a greater focus on better quality and refinement.
Some of the nitty-gritty specifics (like engine output numbers and fuel economy) have yet to be revealed, and since we haven't driven the finished products yet, it's hard to say how these trucks will fare against rivals like the Ram 1500 and Ford F-150. For now, we can only judge these two books by their covers, and while we do like the designs of the new trucks, we Autoblog staffers are torn on exactly which one looks best.
Chevrolet donates 300 vehicles damaged by Sandy to help train first responders
Thu, 28 Feb 2013Super Storm Sandy took out a lot of automobiles in its path of destruction through the Northeast last October. The number surpassed 250,000 at last count, and a few of those were owned by Chevrolet - cars either sitting on dealership lots or waiting at port to be shipped off. Rendered unsellable by the water damage inflicted by Sandy, these vehicles were facing the crusher. But Chevy didn't send them there.
Instead, Chevy had a better idea: It will be donating 300 of these vehicles damaged by Sandy to help train first responders at Guardian Centers in Perry, GA. Chevy is the official automotive partner of Guardian Centers, which is an 830-acre facility that trains first responders in disaster preparedness. Junked cars are practically a consumable commodity there, where a full-size cityscape simulator gives trainees an entire urban center in which to train for all sorts of rescue operations and disaster scenarios.
Chevy says its particular vehicles will be used "in conjunction with role players for wide area searches, traffic congestion in emergency situations, counter terrorism, public order and mass casualty exercises." While grim scenarios all, we're certainly glad there are people out there preparing for the unexpected. While a zombie apocalypse isn't officially on the list of potential disasters to prepare for, when the virus hits, we'll be hot-footing it to Perry, GA to hang with these guys and gals.
