We have a 1965 chevy corvair corsa 140 for auction, the car was found in a barn, was purchased by a guy at an auction with the hopes of restoring it, but as time would tell the car sat in his garage, then driveway for years until he no longer wanted the car. We found it sitting, not being started in about 5 years. We towed the car back to the garage and began the process. The car was red, with the clear coat (repaint) coming off the car in pieces. We sanded the entire car for prep with the idea to repaint it back to red, but after the car was primed, in black, we decided that it looked awesome! So we painted it a matte black, as you see. The motor was then gone thru, replacing gaskets and such. We rebuilt the factory carbs, and replaced anything that they needed to work properly. The starter was replaced, and the wiring was redone. The plugs, coil, cap, rotor, and points were replaced. The factory fuel pump didnt work, so we replaced it with an electric one on it. Cleaned the gas tank and replaced the lines, putting a inline filter on it. We redid the brakes, replacing the brake hoses, pads, and front wheel cylinders. We proceeded to try to start the car, after a couple cranks it came to life, a quick adjustment of all 4 carbs, and it was running good. The car has the 4 speed transmission which shifts nicely, and clutch feels good. Car now runs and stops good, drives straight down the road and feels like it should. The interior of the car was in decent shape, we cleaned it up really good, replacing the carpet, (floor pans are good on this car), the seats do have a few tears in them, nothing terrible tho, and looks fine as a driver. Everything works on the car, turn signals, headlights, dome lights, trunk light, and engine bay light. It is fun to drive and turns heads. Took it to a car show on the first day it was done and got most aggressive looking corvair. The rims are a 14 inch american racing wheel with new tires.   Now for the bad, as every car has unless you do a nut and bolt restore on them.... The front pan on the car has rusted away somewhat, and needs replaced or serious repair. The driverside fender has some cancer, which also is repairable fairly easy (we just have to much going right now and need to move it) , the trunk had a small hole, but it has been repaired with metal and looks ok. Thats about all the bad. The car is a great driver and starts everytime with no issues, its fun to drive, and everybody wants to talk about it. This a NO RESERVE auction, so winner takes all, starting low, way lower than we even have in the car. Ask questions!! The money is due within 3 days of auction or a deposit of 500.00 thru paypal if longer. Pick up with in 7 days, unless agreed upon before bid. Cash on pick up is perfered. Delivery by us can be arranged within 5 hours for a fee.

First 2014 Chevy Corvette Stingray spotted crashed in the wild

Tue, 12 Feb 2013

This restyled blue 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is wearing manufacturer plates, and it appears to be the same one seen around the internet in various pictures lately. This crash is likely not part of the Chevrolet testing regimen, however. Digital Corvettes forum member gpetry posted the shot with a note: "got this picture e-mailed from a friend in Arizona last week..." No circumstances are given, other than the incident occurred in the thick of a set of curvy roads, and the coupe ping-ponged off a guardrail and into the rock wall. Hopefully everyone involved in the incident walked away.
It may not be a pretty thing to see, a crashed sports car that's not even available for sale yet, but rest easy. Many pre-production cars are used for development and then unceremoniously crushed and scrapped, anyway. If that's the case here, that makes this wrecked 'Vette less of a tragedy and more of a case of exceptional efficiency.

NHTSA closes 4-year GM investigation, issues common sense advisory [w/video]

Thu, Apr 9 2015

Since January 2011, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has been investigating a possible problem with corroding brake lines in General Motors' GMT800-platform models, like the Chevrolet Silverado and Suburban and GMC Sierra, in states with salt on their roads in the winter. However, as opposed to launching a full recall of millions of vehicles, the government is issuing a common-sense safety advisory to all drivers in snowy states to keep their vehicle's undercarriage clean. It even has a video explaining things. "Older-model vehicles, often driven in harsh conditions, are subject to corrosion over long periods of time, and we need owners to be vigilant about ensuring they, their passengers, and others on the roads are safe," said NHTSA Administrator Mark Rosekind in the announcement of the end of the investigation. The agency was clear in its report that "brake line corrosion seen in the GM vehicles was not unique," and the government "has not identified a defect that would initiate a recall order." Instead NHTSA is advising drivers, especially those of vehicles from before 2007, to wash their vehicle's undercarriage in the winter and spring to remove salt or other de-icing chemicals. It also recommends regular checks by a mechanic to make sure everything is in proper order. According to the investigation documents, for just the GMT800 platform models, NHTSA found 3,645 complaints of brake line corrosion, which included allegations of 107 crashes and 40 injuries. The issue was found to be more common in vehicles over 10 years old. GM has released a statement (embedded below) that the company "supports the consumer advisory from NHTSA urging regular maintenance and care of brake lines on older vehicles." NHTSA Closes Investigation into Brake-Line Failures NHTSA 13-15 Thursday, April 9, 2015 Agency issues safety advisory on preventing undercarriage corrosion WASHINGTON – The Department of Transportation's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) today issued a Safety Advisory and consumer video encouraging owners of model year 2007 and older trucks, SUVs and passenger cars to inspect brake lines and thoroughly wash the underside of their vehicles to remove corrosive salt after the long winter in order to prevent brake-line failures that increase the risk of a crash.

Hot air balloons caught in high winds drag fullsize SUV

Mon, Jul 20 2015

A sudden storm front whipped up enough wind to send some hot air balloons flying into the air in Wisconsin over the weekend. One ballon proved so energetic that it was able to drag a fullsize SUV across a field and into a stand of tents. The freak accident occurred at Balloonfest in Waterford, Wisconsin. Spectators were horrified as balloons dragged handlers to the ground and launched with terrified pilots clinging to their baskets. Organizers had started packing up the colorful balloons due to ominous storm clouds when the wind kicked up. "Happened just like that; it was crazy," Nathan Fricke, crew member, told Fox 6. Winds were clocked at 40 to 50 miles per hour. A balloon caught in the wind dragged a large SUV (we think a Suburban or Yukon XL) hundreds of feet and into a cluster of tents on the edge of the staging area where balloons were on display for festival goers. Considering that the SUV surely weighs well over 5,000 pounds, it's lucky that no one was injured in the incident. News Source: Fox6Now Weird Car News Chevrolet GM GMC SUV
