1965 Chevrolet Corvair Monza Coupe 140hp Low Mileage on 2040-cars
Henderson, Nevada, United States
Beautiful 1965 Chevrolet Corvair Monza Coupe. Restoration over the past 16 months brought this car to look like new. Still having only 44,508 miles and garaged all it's life this car was purchased 3/21/65 in Hayward, California and ended up in Las Vegas, Nevada. The car never left the west coast. I am the third owner. Car had spent a few months as a lease/demo then sold with full warranty in 1965. The car was built in Chevrolets Van Nuys plant in Los Angeles. Always maintained well and has been in a "smoke-free" home. THIS CAR HAS NO RUST AT ALL! Car still has valid "original black plates" that were on the car from day one!
Features or options on the car were, 140 HP engine, telescopic wood wheel with "quick steering option",remote outside mirror (mechanism in place but removed outside mirror for appearance. Powerglide automatic transmission, padded dash, am radio with rear antenna, deluxe seat belts with retractors, spare tire lock. Here's some of the work done in the restoration: All trim work professionally powder coated. All new brakes installed. All four carbs rebuilt and painted. Also replaced the vacuum choke controls. Replaced alternator with higher amp model. New dual master cylinder for brakes. Replaced torque convertor and new seal. Replaced vacuum modulator. New idler pulley, new belt also. New engine seal. New engine mount. New "U" joints installed. New wheel bearings. Engine gone through, everything adjusted, new spark plugs/wires and everything that was in question was replaced, nothing overlooked. Complete oil change and lube suspension. Has KONI shocks. ALL NEW INTERIOR, NEW CARPET KIT, ALL SEATS REDONE,NEW HEADLINER AND BOTH VISORS,NEW GLOVEBOX. Installed seat extender for tall driver, extra 3 inches of room. NEW CUSTOM 15 INCH CHROME SUMMIT RACING WHEELS WITH LOCKS INSTALLED. ALL NEW TIRES FRONT AND REAR. Car does need a couple of things done still, door hinges making some "clicking sound" when opening doors so you may want to replace them down the road. Radio not hooked up. All in all this car would be considered by most a very good condition professionally restored antique automobile. The cars a big hit at the shows! Perfect time of year to purchase a car before all the car shows start. Buyer will send deposit of $500.00 at auction close. Final arrangements will be communicated at auction close. |

2014 Chevy Silverado High Country spied wearing trappings of new luxury trim
Wed, 03 Apr 2013Spy photographers have spotted the new Chevrolet Silverado High Country and GMC Sierra Denali out on public streets for a little testing. From the looks of things, the Silverado will receive a much-differentiated front fascia along with special badges and those honking 20-inch chrome wheels. Expect to find a more posh interior as well. Likewise, the Sierra Denali will wear a tweaked nose with the familiar Denali bling. The one of the GMC trucks spotted here rolls on 21-inch gunmetal wheels instead of the 20-inch chrome pieces of the High Country.
Word has it both trucks will go on sale after the Texas State Fair this summer. While General Motors hasn't said for certain what we can expect to find under the hood, we'd be surprised to see anything outside of the range of engines found in the standard Silverado and Sierra models. That means buyers should be able to get their hands on the efficient, 23-miles per gallon 5.3-liter V8.
GM raises 2023 guidance on strong sales, higher profits
Tue, Apr 25 2023General Motors beat first-quarter profit estimates and raised its full-year earnings and cash-flow guidance after vehicle demand at the start of the year surpassed expectations. Its shares rose in premarket trading. GM made $2.21 a share in adjusted profit in the first quarter, compared to a consensus forecast of $1.72 a share. Revenue rose 11% to $39.99 billion, it said Tuesday, which was more than the $39.24 billion analysts expected. The stronger results stem from rising sales in the US, even in the face of higher interest rates and inflation. GM executives said demand was strong enough to revise 2023 guidance upward, boosting profit estimates for the year by $500 million to between $11 billion and $13 billion. “We did it with strong production and inventory discipline and consistent pricing,” GM Chief Financial Officer Paul Jacobson said on a call with journalists. “All in all, weÂ’re feeling confident about 2023.” The Detroit automaker raised per-share full-year guidance to between $6.35 and $7.35, up from $6 to $7 a share, and said free cash flow would also increase by $500 million to a range of $5.5 billion to $7.5 billion. GMÂ’s shares pared a gain of as much as 4.4% before the start of regular trading Tuesday, rising 3.5% to $35.50 as of 6:55 a.m. in New York. The stock was up 1.9% for the year as of the close on Monday. North American Strength The automakerÂ’s sales were particularly strong in North America, where first-quarter earnings rose before interest and taxes rose to $3.6 billion. Vehicle sales rose 18% to 707,000 in the region. Jacobson said the company originally expected to sell 15 million vehicles in the US this year, slightly less than the 15.5 million annualized rate automakers foresaw in the first quarter. North American demand was enough to offset a weak performance in China, GMÂ’s second-largest market. The automaker continues to struggle in the country, where its vehicle sales fell 25% to 462,000 vehicles in the quarter. Profits from its joint ventures in the market slumped 65% to $83 million. The market has struggled overall in the wake of Covid-19 restrictions and foreign automakers have had to overcome a growing preference for Chinese brands by competing on price, squeezing profit margins. The situation in China probably wonÂ’t significantly improve until the second half of the year, according to Jacobson. GM remains on target to sell 150,000 electric vehicles this year, the CFO said.
'84 MotorWeek Cherokee, Bronco and Blazer comparison indulges your SUV nostalgia
Fri, Jan 16 2015These days, truck-based, full-frame SUVs are somewhat of a rarity on the auto landscape due to the rapid rise in popularity of easier-driving, car-based crossovers. Although, without the gradually building popularity of these chunky, high-riding vehicles decades ago, it's unlikely that America's roads would be filled with so many CUVs today. In its latest dig into the archives, MotorWeek has found a 1984 comparison test of a trio of these early Sport Utility Wagons, as long-time host John Davis called them, that helped get acceptance of this segment going. This is a red, white and blue test of the SUVs from American automakers at the time and pits the Chevrolet Blazer, Ford Bronco and Jeep Cherokee (specifically in Wagoneer guise) against each other. Driving manners and interior usability are considered in the evaluation, but Motorweek actually takes these vehicles off road, too. Among the bigger revelations is the improvement in on-road ability in the past 30 years. While specific 0-60 times aren't given, all three models take around 10 seconds just to get to around 50 miles per hour in the 500-feet on-ramp acceleration test. Check out this clip to see just how far this segment has progressed in the past three decades or just get a blast of nostalgia from these now vintage models.
