1965 Chevrolet Corvair Corsa Convertible on 2040-cars
Greenville, South Carolina, United States
Up for Auction is my beautiful 1965 "Evening Orchid" Corsa convertible. It has been in my collection and is a very sweet ride. But, I'm thinning out my herd. This Corsa is in very good condition for it's "age" and has the rare "P" code (Evening Orchid), paint with fantastic workmanship and outstanding trim. This is not a car to drive if you don't want to be noticed (Chick magnet), as it will get attention and compliments everywhere you park. This Corsa was previously a show car and has extra Monza badging installed. It is a "true" and original Corsa. It is rare to find a Corvar in this condition and with this "Color" and "caliber" paint! It only has a few small chips from normal use. All of the bright work trim on the car is like new, with exceptions of a dent in the rear upper cove trim, the RR wheel opening trim and some minor dents in the windshield stainless moldings. All of the glass is perfect with exception of the passenger door having some scratches. the floors were recently replaced and the trunk floor was previously replaced with correct metal welded in. There are a few small paint blisters showing on the right rear quarter behind the wheel trim, (see photo), and the left rocker under the molding. The seats show little wear and are nearly flawless, although the driver seat seems to be soft in the base as if the foam or springs are weak (not visually noticeable). The convertible top is near perfect condition with a new rear window and works manually as it should. The radio and wipers and heater all work properly. The windshield pillar weather strips and trunk weather strips are new. The Car has had recent maintenance and has just been serviced by Steve Avery ("AVERY CORVAIRS"), in Greenville, South Carolina. Including a tune up, with new Ignition wires, spark plugs, rebuilt carburetors and fresh oil change. Also, the brakes were just "replaced", including wheel cylinders rebuilt and dual master cylinder. The rear wheel bearings are lubed and have had grease fittings installed and the front wheel bearings have been checked and repacked. All 4 shocks were just replaced with new "Clarks" shocks along with thermostats, a new Viton rear main seal and oil pressure switch. The wheels are beautiful with 15x7 ARE with 196/65 15" (front), and 205/56 15" (rear). The tires are Cooper touring (absolutely dig these treads!), with between 5/32nds and 7/32nds of tread left. . The 140hp engine has a "mild" cam and runs strong even though it is a "older" rebuild on a YR block, (TO407YR). There is a "trace" of smoke on cold start . The clutch and gearbox have no issues and shifts are smooth and no "abnormal" noises. The transaxle is the later (1966 up), "Saginaw" with a "Otto" parts strut bracket installed . Should If you have any questions call Steve at "AVERY CORVAIRS" at (828)-342-0953. Or Email him at vairtech@yahoo.com. Note: This Corsa is being sold "as is" and no warranty supplied or implied. I have the right to end this auction at any time due to it being for sale locally. |

Conquest and controversy conclude the 2014 Rolex 24 at Daytona [spoilers]
Sun, 26 Jan 2014If you don't wish to know who won the 2014 Rolex 24 at Daytona, you should avert your eyes right now. We'll even give you a double-space to skedaddle...
For those of you still with us, the first race in the United SportsCar Championship (USCC) is done, but the discussions about it certainly won't end for a while. Daytona Prototypes claimed the first four overall places, the top spot taken by the No. 5 Action Express Coyote-Chevrolet Corvette DP driven by Joao Barbosa, Christian Fittipaldi, Sebastien Bourdain and Burt Friselle. The 16th and final caution of the race bunched the field up for an eight-minute sprint to the flag, so the first place getter finished just 1.4 seconds ahead of the No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing Dallara-Chevrolet Corvette DP driven by Max Angelelli. Third place went to Brian Friselle in the No. 9 Action Express Chevrolet Corvette DP, 20 seconds down. Chevrolet power hasn't taken the overall win since 2003, eleven years later it scores a one-two-three-four. The No. 6 Muscle Milk/Pickett Racing ORECA-Nissan 03 scored fifth place, the top LMP2 finisher.
The Prototype Challenge class win went to the No. 54 CORE Autosport team of Colin Braun, Jon Bennett, Mark Wilkins and James Gue.
Mark Reuss: GM can't afford product 'misses,' has 'thought about' CT6 V-Series
Thu, Apr 9 2015Mark Reuss is a busy man. He oversees General Motors' global product portfolio, an all-encompassing task for a company that sold more than 9.9 million cars and trucks last year. When GM launches a well-received product, like the road-going rocket ship that is the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 – he gets credit. When the company stumbles with the slow-selling Chevy Malibu or grapples with fallout from the decade-old Saturn Ion and its flawed ignition switch, he gets blamed. GM owners, the press and sometimes the federal government, demand answers. Bob Lutz famously held the job before Reuss. So did Mary Barra, who's now GM's chief executive. There's a New GM, but the lineage is connected to a long history. When he's not thinking product, Reuss, an executive vice president, also runs the purchasing and supply chain for the company, which is still one of the largest industrial empires in the world. We caught up with Reuss on the floor of the New York Auto Show, where GM had just rolled out two crucial new products: the 2016 Cadillac CT6 and the 2016 Chevrolet Malibu. Speaking with a small group of reporters, Reuss delved into a variety of subjects, including the new Malibu, Cadillac's future (he thinks the ATS-V is going to "flame the M3 and M4"), and other topics. On fixing the Malibu: "We can't miss. We can't have those kinds of misses [like the previous generation] on our cars and crossovers and trucks. We can't do that. If we do that, we give a reason for someone to go buy something else. It's that simple. "On a car like the Malibu we have a chance to really fix all of that, which we have, and then lead. Then you've got a real opportunity there. So that's what we've really been focused on here – to fix those things." He later added: "We need that car here to transform Chevrolet desperately because it's the heart of the market. And when you think of Chevrolet, people will come back and think about what we did with the [new] Malibu and the Cruze... It's hugely important to us." On Cadillac: "If we go out and try and out-German the Germans, it's probably not going to work. We've got an opportunity here generationally where there's a lot of people younger than me that have parents that drove BMWs and Mercedes, and I think there's an opportunity there for those people to drive something different than what their parents did, and I think that's always been an opportunity in the auto industry if you look at the history of it.
