This listing is for a 1963 Chevrolet Corvair Monza 900 with a manual transmission. It has a black exterior and a red interior. The car's exterior includes an impressive amount of chrome on pieces such as the front headlights, the back of the side mirror, and the trim along both sides of the car. This car is in amazing condition for being more than 50 years old. The vehicle comes with all analog gauges which can all be viewed in the pictures and videos. The speedometer and gas gauge are responsive and accurate. The odometer also works well (it can be seen turning in the video). Both turn signals in the front of the car work very well. Both headlights and high beams work well also. The lights on the interior dash that blink when the turn signals are on both also work. This vehicle comes with a fully functioning horn. The windshield wipers are new and both of the wiper motors work. The heater in the car blows warm air after a few minutes of warming up. The switches on the dash used to activate things such as the radio, headlights, heater, turn signals, horn, etc work just as they should. All four of the windows in the car work and go up and down as they should. This car also comes with a functioning aftermarket radio system with three speaker fixtures integrated throughout the car. There is one speaker underneath the dash and one on either side of the car in the rear. These speakers produce good sound and can be heard in the video. The headliner in this car has been replaced very recently (unlike many of the Corvairs that I've seen come up for sale). As would be the case with any 50+ year old vehicle, there are a few subtle imperfections in the body (which can be seen in the pictures). The odometer goes up to 99,999 miles and reads 31,355 miles so it may have turned all the way over in the past. The six cylinder engine runs strong and starts up quickly. The four speed manual transmission shifts through all gears smoothly. I just got back from a 50 mile drive through a combination of rolling country roads and a few stretches of interstate. I wouldn't think twice about taking this car across the country. Truly a vintage pleasure to drive.
There is nothing being intentionally hidden about this classic car, as so many people do in ads and auctions. If there is something you should know about the car of which I am aware, it's available to you in the listing. Use the combination of the photos, videos and text for full disclosure, with more emphasis on the photos and videos as the description is clearly not intended to be exhaustive. As eBay says, a single picture is worth a thousand words. eBay strongly recommends the best practice of providing as many photos as possible and letting the photos do the talking, rather than trying to describe in words what can be seen in a photo or trying to recreate in words what already is provided in photos. I have gone far out of my way, unlike many other online sellers, by shooting hundreds and hundreds of photos in just about every imaginable angle for you to analyze. By doing this you don't have to rely on a seller's "interpretation" of characteristics of the car, but instead you can draw your own conclusions from what you see. My goal is that if you use everything I provide to you, you get a more thorough demonstration of the car than if you came to see a car in person. With that being said, I still gave you my impression of the car's characteristics above as material for secondary analysis. If your impression of a picture/video differs from what I've written or said, then your own opinion should govern your conclusion. If you have any questions please message me through the eBay messaging system, which eBay indicates is always the preferred method of communication. I will generally answer within a few hours.
TRANSACTION RULES: A deposit of $500 is to be made by Paypal payment within 48 hours of listing close. The remainder of the full payment is to be made within 7 calendar days of listing close by either cash in person or bank wire transfer. Failure to make the full payment within 7 calendar days of listing close will result in the forfeiture of the $500 Paypal deposit and will result in the sale of the vehicle to another buyer. If after you make the initial $500 Paypal deposit you change your mind and would no longer like to purchase the vehicle, you agree to forfeit the $500 Paypal deposit. All shipping costs are the buyer's responsibility unless otherwise agreed upon. Vehicle may only be picked up once full payment has been cleared. Storage for the first 14 days is 100% FREE. There is a storage charge of $25/week beyond 14 days after the end of the listing. If you want to avoid these storage fees but can't pick the car up for months, I can set you up with a public storage unit under your name, put the car in there and Fedex you the keys, title, etc. as long as you have paid in advance. You must read the entire auction description, follow the rules, and study each picture and video fully. Any inspections must occur prior to the auction end. I do not offer a warranty on anything that I sell, ever, as a matter of personal philosophy -- this Chevrolet Corvair is being sold AS-IS with absolutely no warranty of any kind expressed or implied --. Other than what is seen in the videos/pictures, no testing of this car or its mechanical/electrical aspects have been done and there is no implication that something works on it that hasn't been specifically demonstrated to be working in a video or text; you should not assume something works or is present that would have worked or was present when this car was new. For liability avoidance, I must state that all systems have to be professionally safety-checked prior to your use of this car. You get the car as pictured, captured in the videos and described, a clean and clear title, a bill of sale, two keys, and any vehicle records that I have in my possession. By placing a bid on this car, you agree to abide by the transaction rules.
Chevrolet's latest road rocket, the Corvette Stingray, is a very quick car. If one needs further proof of that, we recommend they take a look at this video from Hennessey of what is claimed to be the first privately owned C7 Corvette to make a pass down the quarter mile. Not just any quarter mile, mind, this black C7 blitzed its way down the tuner's primary testing dragstrip. The Chevrolet ran the quarter in just 12.23 seconds at 114.88 miles per hour. That is a very quick time for a stock car. Equipped with the Z51 package and a six-speed automatic transmission, not only does the C7 run a solid time, but it does so with little to no drama. That won't last though, as Hennessey will likely return it to its owner with far more power - we just hope they show a drag run of the completed product. Take a look below to watch the C7's 12.23-second run on video.
It happens every year. We bid adieu to some cars and trucks that will be missed, and say good riddance to others wondering how they stayed around so long. Whether they're being killed off for slow sales or due to a new product coming along to replace them, the list of vehicles being discontinued after 2012 is surprisingly long and diverse. CNN Money has compiled a list of departing vehicles, to which we've added a few more of our own. In the slow sales column, cars like the Lexus HS 250h, Mercedes-Benz R-Class and the full Maybach lineup appear, while the Ford Escape Hybrid, Mazda CX-7 and Hyundai Veracruz are all having their gaps filled with more modern and more fuel-efficient alternatives. Obvious exceptions to the rule include models that still sell in decent numbers like the Jeep Liberty and the Chrysler Town & Country (which will eventually be replaced by a crossover-like vehicle). Check out our gallery of discontinued cars above, then scroll down for more information.
