For sale to settle an estate is a very rare, 1961 Chevrolet Corvair 95 Rampside pickup truck aka "FC" (Forward Control)-Flat 6 cylinder /4 speed manual /145 CID).  This vehicle is very well known to all of the Detroit Area Air Coolers and was noted last week by the DAAC Founder and fellow Corvair expert as “Not perfect, but she’s the nicest one you will find.  If you want one better, head on over to Jay Leno’s Garage and plan on spending 50K”.  This Rampside has earned many accolades including a wall full of trophies, countless wins at local shows and, as you see from one of the pictures, was a feature vehicle at the Sloan Museum 100th Anniversary Show from May through September 2011.   Mom & Dad have owned and loved this truck since 1992 and the truck was the subject of a bottom to top renovation.  Since then, it has only seen 2 things, sunshine and dry roads or the soft side of a custom-fit cover (included) while parked in the garage.  It is not a rust free vehicle, but is clean, clean, clean as you can see from the pictures and you can listen to the video to hear it run.  The engine starts every time and the transmission shifts grind-free with confidence from 1st through 4th.  The tires are like new (see pictures) and the battery is new as well.  She starts every time, RUNS GREAT, LOOKS GREAT so the bottom line is, this Rampside is Parade Ready!!!    As for things that need some attention, the passenger door requires higher than normal effort to shut, but will close and lock properly and maybe I am picky but it closes every time.  I could be spoiled by the driver’s door, ramside, and tail gate which all function flawlessly with fingertip efforts!  The horn does not work.  The choke seems hard to pull, but is not required even on a cool Michigan morning.  The transmission is generating a few drops of fluid per day.  This vehicle is for sale locally as well and the seller reserves the right to remove this vehicle from eBay Motors at any time.

WARNING:  Do not buy this vehicle unless you like to have pleasant conversations and receive compliments at every stoplight, every restaurant, every gas station, corner store, car show, or basically anywhere there are other folks around.

Hear her RUN!!! http://youtu.be/a1hKpXoJxzQ

Volvo and GM team with Amazon for in-car deliveries

Tue, Apr 24 2018

Volvo and GM are the first automakers to pair their vehicles with a new service from Amazon that lets owners have their packages delivered inside their cars, without them having to be there. The service will initially be rolled out in 37 U.S. cities at no extra charge to Amazon Prime members with a Volvo On Call or OnStar account, and it works with same-day, two-day and standard shipping. It's intended as an alternative for people who don't want to risk having their package stolen from their front porch or receive deliveries at their workplace, and both automakers say it's an example of how they're embracing innovation as a way to make their customers' lives easier. Volvo released a video (above) showing how the service works. Users download the Amazon Key App (or " Ama-zin," as the narrator pronounces it) and link their Amazon Prime account with their Volvo On Call account — or OnStar, in the case of GM-branded vehicles. Once they register their delivery location in a publicly accessible location, users can select the "In-Car" option at checkout. They get a notification when the delivery is en route and once it's completed and the car is relocked. Volvo has been offering in-car delivery in certain European countries since 2015 through its Volvo On Call platform, which enables services like the ability to send calendar-based navigation destinations directly to the vehicle, find nearby gas stations and help locate the vehicle when you forget where you parked it. Volvo says the platform is now available in roughly 50 countries and covers more than 90 percent of its global sales. The service is compatible with 2015 or newer Volvo, Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet and GMC vehicles. Volvo says it's available to the majority of Volvo owners, while GM says more than 7 million vehicle owners can qualify. The service is expected to roll out to more cities later. GM applies for LT5, LTX trademarks... are new small block variants coming?

Mon, 29 Apr 2013

Recently discovered General Motors trademark applications for LT4, LT5, LT88 and LTX have observers wondering what kind of high-performance offerings could be on their way. A new LT4 would mark a return of the engine designation first used on the Corvette Grand Sport, SLP Pontiac Firehawk and SLP Chevrolet Camaro SS from 1996 and 1997. Supposition at Corvette Forum - which provided advance intel on the C7 like these leaked images - believes a new LT4 could go into the high-performance trim of the next-gen, 2015 Camaro that would be more powerful than the 580-horsepower Camaro ZL1.
Seeing an LT5 again would also be déjà vu - in its former life it was a 5.7-liter V8 for the C4 Corvette ZR-1 from 1990-1994 designed by Lotus, producing from 370 hp to 405 hp. A mix of rumor and hope is that the new LT5 will be a supercharged evolution of the 6.2-liter LT1 (pictured) placed in the new C7 Corvette, and that it will go into the C7 version of the ZR1 pumping out something like 700 hp.
The LTX trademark is, as with that last letter, a complete mystery. If the "X" isn't a generic way to denote the whole LT family, it's wondered if it LTX could refer to a crate motor offering like the LSX.

Chevy Corvette Stingray "colorizer" lets you chase the rainbow

Thu, 14 Feb 2013

After you've convinced your better half to let you buy a new Corvette, then comes the hard part... actually figuring out which 'Vette you want. While Chevrolet has yet to release the official configurator for the 2014 Corvette Stingray, it did give us something else to kill some time playing around with.
The C7 Corvette "colorizer" recently went online, and it lets you look at the car in all of its available colors and wheel options from four different angles so that when this car does go on sale, you know exactly which one you want. It includes the Corvette's full pallet of colors including Torch Red, Laguna Blue and the hue you see above, Velocity Yellow. Toss in the black wheels, and we're sold. If you have some time this afternoon, be sure to check it out the Corvette colorizer for yourself, and even if you don't have the time, we've put together a gallery with all of the possible color combinations.
