For sale is a 2009 Chevrolet Colorado 4 door 4 cyl. auto truck.  Exterior is red with interior being black.  60/40 front bench seat with center armrest/console.  All decals and side moldings have been removed. Factory door moldings have been retained and can be re-applied with 3m tape.   Door handles and tailgate handle are factory chrome. Currently has factory wheels and factory bedliner installed.  Interior is stain free and a non-smoking vehicle.  Exterior has minor scratches as would any with 122K miles. Vehicle runs/drives great.  Has a K&N black plastic cold air intake with a dry Amsoil cone filter.  The original K&N cone filter will go with it also.  There is a check engine light on which is because of the evap. purge solenoid valve.  This will be replaced before the vehicle is purchased.  I tried to replace it myself but my hands were too big to fit in the tight area.  As long as I have owned this truck I have used synthetic Pennzoil Ultra or Platinum and a good filter, either Napa Platinum or original Delco.  Has new Denso or NGK Iridium plugs installed, sorry but I can't remember. I no longer drive this vehicle because I have been driving my grandfathers smaller more fuel efficient Ford Ranger since we took his license away.  It has been garage kept since it was parked in February and has just recently been moved to another more high traffic area since it is for sale locally.  I initially had the intentions of lowering this truck so along with it will come a set of machine shop bored and gloss black powder-coated 18" Nissan Titan 5 spoke wheels with center caps and another set of center cap covers that have been waterjet cut with the Chevy emblem in them.  Also there are 4 unmounted 18" tires with appx. 3/4" tread from a Cadillac STS.  Also included are DJM 4" rear lowering blocks with hardware still in box. Only thing needed to complete the lowering of this truck are the DJM calmax front control arms.  Basically selling this vehicle because 1.  I don't need it, 2. It's just setting wasting money on insurance, 3. need to free up some money for the oldest son who is about to start driving.  If you have any questions feel free to contact me.  This is my wife's account so she will have to get with me for any questions regarding the truck.  I really enjoy this truck and how it drives and runs but it's just not feasible for me to keep anymore.

Question of the Day: What's the most irritating car name?

Wed, Mar 9 2016

You hear a lot about how the Chevrolet Nova was a sales flop in Mexico because "No va" means "it doesn't go" in Spanish; in fact, the Nova sold pretty well south of the border, and in any case most Spanish-speakers know that "Nova" means "new" in Latin and Portuguese. However, General Motors doesn't deserve to be let off the hook for bad car names, because the Oldsmobile Achieva— no doubt inspired by the excruciating "coffee achievers" ads of the 1980s— scrapes the biggest fingernails down the screechiest chalkboard in the US-market car-name world. That is, unless you think Daihatsu's incomprehensible choice of Charade was worse. Meanwhile, Japanese car buyers could get machines with cool names like Mazda Bongo Friendee or Honda Life Dunk. It's just not fair! So, what car name drives you the craziest? Related Video: Auto News Design/Style Chevrolet Honda Mazda Daihatsu Automotive History questions car names

Take a close look at the guts of the Chevy Volt battery, powertrain

Sat, Aug 9 2014

Just how intimate would you like to get with the powertrain in a Chevy Volt? If you're anything like YouTube user d55guy, then spending a half hour filming yourself taking apart the battery pack, motor, inverter and more for a look inside sounds like your idea of fun. After all, this way you get to see the cooling system, the heavy safety kill switch and count up the individual cells in the battery modules. Fun! Turns out, we also enjoy languidly paced Volt dissection video goodness, and we think you might want to see it as well. So, we've embedded two videos below and if you don't have a better understanding of how the Volt is put together after watching them, well, at least you can't say we never tried to show you anything. Given that what's really happening here is the organized 'destruction' of an expensive and potentially dangerous object, let's talk safety. There's a serious disclaimer at the beginning of the videos and on the YouTube description page, but we feel the need to repeat the gist of it here: do not try this at home. The creator of the video says he is a trained engineer and has been doing things like this "for the better part of a decade," so he apparently knows what he's doing. With that in mind, watch it all below. When you're done seeing the insides of a Volt powertrain up close, if you need more filmed EV dissection/destruction, check out this video designed for first responders approaching a damaged Tesla Model S. Lutz dishes dirt on GM in latest Autoline Detroit

Bob Lutz sits down for Autoline Detroit - Click above to watch video after the jump
Autoline Detroit recently played host to Bob Lutz, and, as is always the case, the former General Motors vice chairman dished out some great commentary. Lutz was promoting his new book Car Guys vs. Bean Counters: The Battle for the Soul of American Business, and talk quickly turned to his role as it related to product development and high-level decision making at GM. While on the topic of brand management, Lutz revealed a few rather interesting tidbits about his former employer:
All Chevrolet vehicles were required to have five-spoke aluminum wheels and a chrome band up front, as part of the Bowtie brand's overall image.
