2005 Chevrolet Colorado Z71 Ls Crew Cab Pickup 4-door 3.5l on 2040-cars
Lyman, South Carolina, United States
Well, here is listing for my truck. It was purchased in June of 2005 from my local Chevy dealer in SC. I am the original owner and have taken good care of this truck. It was garage kept from purchase until July of 2012 when I puchased a 3rd vehicle and moved this one outside. It comes from a non-smoking owner. This truck offers many options that were available in the "LS" package- Power windows, power locks, power mirrors (the glass-not the housings), Onstar, Sirius XM, factory 6 disc cd changer with RDS. It also has the towing package with a max capacity of lbs. This truck also has the desirable 3.5L I-5 engine with 220 HP. It also has upgraded tires and wheels- I changed the wheels a couple of years back to Hummer H3 wheels and blank center caps. The tires were replaced this past Feb/Mar with Cooper Discoverer HTP with a 65,000 mile treadlife warranty. I have replaced the brakes this spring with the same ones GM built the truck with for long life- the original ones went 156,000 miles. It also has an OEM tonneau cover over the bed and a Rhino Spray-in bedliner. I upgraded the exhaust system from stock to a MBRP Stainless Steel Cat back system. I have most of the service records to document it's maintenance history to prospective buyers. It averages 20 MPG with regular 87 octane gas and typically runs about 380-410 between fill-ups. There is a small tear in the edge of the drivers seat (I will try and repair this weekend to close the hole), the handle on the drivers side recliner is broken. The right front passenger window works intermittantly- it might go down and come up, other times it might go down and stay down until you use the window button repeatedly- issue appears isolated to the power window motor inside the door. There is also a rattle in the rear door when the stereo is turned up, been like that for years-it doesn't bother me. I also have this truck for sale locally, so it is possible this auction can end early because of an immediate buyer. Deposit of $500 due within 36 hours of auction end. Balance payable in cash on delivery or cashier check drawn from a nationally recognized bank where funds can be verifed. Pickup is local at my home- I will not deliver unless you live within about 25 miles of my home. Truck has current SC plate on it and will continue to be driven and milage will increase (reason mileage shows higher than the Odometer picture). Photos were taken Wed 11/27/13 |

GM recalling 250,000 SUVs over door electronics
Mon, 20 Aug 2012After a door-fire investigation that dates back to February, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has officially announced a recall today that affects around 250,000 General Motors SUVs for a faulty driver's door module. The recall applies to the Buick Rainier, Chevrolet Trailblazer, GMC Envoy, Isuzu Ascender and Saab 9-7X from the 2006 and 2007 model years, as well as the 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer EXT and GMC Envoy XL for vehicles sold and/or registered in the Snow Belt.
Road salt use in these midwestern and northern states can lead to corrosion of the driver's door module on these GMT360 and GMT370 vehicles, which allows water to come in contact with the circuit board. If shorted out, the vehicle's power door locks and power windows will not work, and could possibly lead to overheating and, in some circumstances, a fire. No official word on how many total vehicles caught on fire, but back in June, 28 fires had been reported to the government agency. A fix for the problem is still being worked out, but all affected vehicle owners will be notified by GM.

The U-2 spy plane needs high-performance cars to help land
Thu, Oct 15 2015Typically, aircraft deploy their landing gear from three main points. Most military aircraft, for example, deploy two gears at the back and one forward, like a tricycle. Some civilian aircraft flip the layout, with two in front and one in back - tail-draggers. The U-2 Dragon Lady is wildly different than any of these. With a 103-foot wingspan but a body that's just 63-feet long, the layout of the U-2 makes a traditional landing setup infeasible. Instead, the U-2 utilizes a pair of wheels, one up front and one in back. With such a bizarre layout, landings are so tough that since the U-2's earliest flights at Area 51, the US Air Force has used high-performance chase cars to guide the pilot down safely. The landing process isn't over there, though. As this video from Sploid shows, balancing out the aircraft to fit the detachable "pogos" – think training wheels for spy planes – is a comical procedure requiring a number of airman using their full body weight to even out the U-2. This video also recaps some of the great vehicles that have served as chase vehicles for this legendary spy plane. They include Chevrolet El Caminos, and the Fox-body Ford Mustangs so favored by the California Highway Patrol. For the last several years, the USAF has utilized products from General Motors, using fourth-generation Chevy Camaros, before switching over to the Pontiac GTO and most recently, the awesome Pontiac G8. It's fair to say that if you're a gearhead in the Air Force, this is the job you want. Check out the video, embedded up top. Recharge Wrap-up: EVs poll well in Portland, Tesla seeks office space
Tue, Aug 5 2014In a poll of drivers in Portland, more than 80 percent said they would be driving an EV in the next 10 years if they weren't already. The poll was small and not scientific, with just 218 votes cast, but it does reflect a slice of a certain population with changing attitudes toward electric mobility, and 80 percent is an impressive figure. Additionally, 43 percent of respondents planned to have an EV in the next five years, and only 18 percent said they prefer gasoline-powered vehicles. With EVs in many ways repeating the adoption process that hybrids went through a decade ago, the five- or ten-year timeframe for more widespread use seems only natural. His Chevrolet Volt has been ticketed for parking six times since he took office. Granted, those street-sweeping signs are tough to keep track of, but his car has been photographed blocking at a bus stop while grabbing a burrito (who hasn't sinned in the name of a delicious burrito?), and was even caught parked in a crosswalk. The tickets were all dismissed. Read more from the SF Gate. Tesla is looking for office space in Silicon Valley. As the electric car company continues to search for a place to build its $4- to $5-billion battery Gigafactory, it also needs some real estate to expand its operations near its Palo Alto home. Tesla has expanded from 3,000 to 6,000 California-based employees since the end of 2012, and plans to add 500 more by the end of the year. It is currently looking for 200,000 to 300,000 square feet of office space close to its Fremont factory, according to sources in the real estate industry.
