What a great car this is! I hate to sell it -- it was my commuter car for 4 years and has been reliable, fun, and fast.

I drove 70 miles / day for 2 1/2 years, then 20 miles / day for 1 1/2 years. Now I'm living and working in NYC, and it's a big, big pain to own a car -- I've gotten hundreds of dollars of parking tickets, and a parking garage spot is more than rent in other cities I've lived in.

So ... it's way too expensive for the limited use I get (a few short day trips in the past 6 months).

I'm the second owner (the first was a man in his 50's who sold it to a dealership), and I've taken good care of this car. It's fun to drive fast, but I'm a middle-aged man beyond racing age, so the engine, transmission, etc. are in great shape. Here's a recording of the engine.

The car gets off the line fast--I got it specifically because it's faster than just about anything else you can buy for double the price. The supercharger gives it a lot of oomph, and the Recaro seats hold you in around curves and turns.

The car includes a Pioneer premium audio system with shark fin subwoofer and amplifier, but originally had the standard crappy GM head unit. It was the equivalent of attaching a tape deck to a high-end audio system, so I replaced it with a head unit that has a CD player and full EQ spectrum. The sound sparkles now.

The orange/copper paint pops on the road and catches lots of attention. I've had a lot of people compliment me on it. It especially shines in the late afternoon, almost looks like it's on fire.

The interior is in great condition -- seats are clean with no rips/tears. I don't smoke so there's just standard wear.

Body is in great shape except for a 2" scratch on hood (see pictures) from parking in NYC. One of two cigarette lighters does not work, and the cruise control has worked intermittently. The bevel around the sunroof switch broke so I bought a new one but haven't installed it yet. Otherwise I can't think of anything else that's wrong with it.

I've taken good care of the car and have taken it in for regular maintenance and checkups. I replaced the clutch around 55K miles, the current one still feels pretty tight. Always had synthetic oil changes at the prescribed intervals.

I hope to put this in good hands of someone who will enjoy it as much as I have! Feel free to reach out with any additional questions.

Automakers score 8 out of top 20 most-watched ads on YouTube [w/videos]

Fri, 14 Dec 2012

Who would have ever thought there'd be a day where people are able to skip television commercials only to go to websites to watch them later? Such is the joy of a DVR and YouTube. AdWeek tabulated the 20 most-watched ads on YouTube, and found that nine were car-related including eight coming from automakers.
Volkswagen continued its Star Wars theme with two ads in the top 20, including the highest-ranking car commercial The Bark Side spot at number three with almost 18 million views, which doesn't even have a single car in it. Some of our favorites are from Chrysler with Clint Eastwood in It's Halftime in America and House Arrest with Charlie Sheen for the Fiat 500 Abarth. Chevrolet, Honda, Audi and Toyota were the other automakers in the top 20, but we'd be remiss if we didn't at least mention one of the coolest ads on the list, the Hot Wheels corkscrew jump.
Of all the car videos, only the Fiat ad wasn't played during a Super Bowl. Check out all eight videos - in order - after the jump. Nike took the top spot with its My Time is Now ad that has been seen online more than 20 million times with Pepsi's Uncle Drew posted up in the runner-up; some of the other videos include four Old Spice commercials and an ad in which Snoop Dogg is pedaling Hot Pockets.

Which electric cars can charge at a Tesla Supercharger?

Sun, Jul 9 2023

The difference between Tesla charging and non-Tesla charging. Electrify America; Tesla Tesla's advantage has long been its charging technology and Supercharger network. Now, more and more automakers are switching to Tesla's charging tech. But there are a few things non-Tesla drivers need to know about charging at a Tesla station. A lot has hit the news cycle in recent months with regard to electric car drivers and where they can and can't plug in. The key factor in all of that? Whether automakers switched to Tesla's charging standard. More car companies are shifting to Tesla's charging tech in the hopes of boosting their customers' confidence in going electric.  Here's what it boils down to: If you currently drive a Tesla, you can keep charging at Tesla charging locations, which use the company's North American Charging Standard (NACS), which has long served it well. The chargers are thinner, more lightweight and easier to wrangle than other brands.  If you currently drive a non-Tesla EV, you have to charge at a non-Tesla charging station like that of Electrify America or EVgo — which use the Combined Charging System (CCS) — unless you stumble upon a Tesla charger already equipped with the Magic Dock adapter. For years, CCS tech dominated EVs from everyone but Tesla.  Starting next year, if you drive a non-Tesla EV (from the automakers that have announced they'll make the switch), you'll be able to charge at all Supercharger locations with an adapter. And by 2025, EVs from some automakers won't even need an adaptor.  Here's how to charge up, depending on which EV you have:  Ford 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E. Tim Levin/Insider Ford was the earliest traditional automaker to team up with Tesla for its charging tech. Current Ford EV owners — those driving a Ford electric vehicle already fitted with a CCS port — will be able to use a Tesla-developed adapter to access Tesla Superchargers starting in the spring. That means that, if you own a Mustang Mach-E or Ford F-150 Lightning, you will need the adapter in order to use a Tesla station come 2024. But Ford will equip its future EVs with the NACS port starting in 2025 — eliminating the need for any adapter. Owners of new Ford EVs will be able to pull into a Supercharger station and juice up, no problem. General Motors Cadillac Lyriq. Cadillac GM will also allow its EV drivers to plug into Tesla stations.

Corvette Stolen In Detroit Returned To Owner After 33 Years

Wed, Jun 25 2014

A Detroit man had his stolen Corvette returned 33 years after it disappeared while parked on one of Detroit's main drags, according to ABC 7. The last time George Talley saw his 1979 Corvette was on a July day in 1981, when it disappeared from its parking spot on Jefferson Avenue in Detroit. He had given up hope of ever seeing his car again, until a phone call from AAA brought his sporty ride home. Authorities had come across a Corvette with a questionable VIN in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. When they ran the number Talley's stolen car report came up. The car is still in pretty good shape and only has 47,000 miles on the odometer. Talley wasn't sure how he could get the car back home, but General Motors stepped in and agreed to cover the cost of bringing the 'Vette home. Talley has always had a passion for Detroit-made muscle cars. "I've always liked Corvettes. It was attractive. The ladies like 'em," Talley told ABC 7.
