Colorado Springs, Colorado, United States

          * 1978 Chevrolet C-10 Fleetside Pickup  *

                         * Cheyenne BIG-10 *

Before you and up for bid is my 1978 Chevrolet C-10 "BIG10" 2WD Fleetside pickup.

The ownership history & particulars on the truck are as follows:

*  In the family since new.  On 9/22/77, Harry & Elizabeth Larsen traveled the short distance from their home in Arlington, S.D. to Anderson Chevrolet in De Smet, S.D., to take delivery of their new 1978 Chevy C-10 pickup truck.  The truck had been specially ordered earlier that summer.  Arlington and De Smet are both rural farming communities in the southeastern S.D.  For those literarily familiar, yes, De Smet is the town where Laura Ingalls Wilder was raised, and the subject location for five of her books including "Little Town on the Prairie", which reflect upon her childhood there.

*  A one rancher owner, garaged & pampered, non-smoker, no accident history pickup truck.

*  Only 50,654 actual miles!

*  Ordered with 24 options, they are as follows:

*  A28 Sliding rear window

*  E63 Fleetside Box

*  LS9 V8 engine 350 CID w/4 bbl carb

*  N33 Comfort tilt steering wheel

*  PO1 Bright Wheel Trim Covers

*  UF2 Cargo Lamp

*  Z53 Gauge Pkg

*  Z84 Cheyenne Pkg

*  A01 Soft-Ray Tinted Glass

*  C60 All Weather Air Conditioning

*  F44 Heavy Duty Chassis

*  MX1 Auto Transmission

*  NL2 Auxillary Fuel Tank

*  N41 Power Steering

*  UA1 HD Delco 4000 Watt Battery

*  U63 AM Pushbutton Radio

*  U76 Windshield Antenna

*  ZY4 Deluxe Two Tone Paint

*  64D Buckskin Woven Fabric

*  V46 Chrome Front Bumper

*  XLD, YLD, ZLD L78-15 Front, Rear & Spare tires.

*  The BIG-10 model is a versatile heavy duty workhorse, (6200 GVWR) what distinguished it was the massive girder beam front suspension (3400 lb capacity) heavy duty front coils, heavy duty rear leaf springs, heavy duty front disc/rear drum brake system with power assist.  BIG-10's also operated on either lead-free or regular gasoline.

Having only been driven slightly more than 50K miles over the course of 36 years, the 350 V8 runs very well.  There are absolutely NO annoying drips or leaks.

The TH350 transitions smoothly through its upshifts, and goes easily into reverse.

The truck is essentially a solid rust free example, (NO salt or winter corrosives)there is light stone chipping at the lower corners at the front of the bed, (see pics) this adds to the truck's patina.

This is an original "survivor" truck, it has not been restored.  The Cordova brown paint is factory original to the truck, it is deep metallic root beer in color that still has a nice finish to it.  (see pic to illustrate reflection)  The white on the sides have been resprayed, the trim was removed prior to doing so.

The interior rates a 9.5.  The upholstery is near perfect, as the seats were always covered.  The carpet are in great shape with no heel wear.  The original cab length vinyl floor mat is present.

The door panels are in great condition, no dents to the Cheyenne package aluminum inserts.

Nice kick panels.

All gauges are fully functional.

No steering wheel cracks.

Perfect headliner and sun visors.

Perfect dash, there are NO cracks or warps.

All safety features, lights, wipers, horn, directionals, emergency flashers, etc. are fully operational.

The factory AM radio still plays well.

The truck is equipped with factory AC, though it is not blowing cold.  I checked into a new compressor, they are approximately $160.00.  The system would necessitate retrofitting to 134 refrigerant.

Excellent heater/defroster.

All original glass, the windshield still displays the 1978 state inspection sticker.  It had 2 small chips which were resin filled, neither chip is in the drivers field of vision.

The windows roll up & down properly.

All weatherstripping is soft and pliable, the window brows are in good condition.

Power steering

Nice grill

Nice chrome front bumper, NO pits, flaking or rust.

Recent service includes new belt(s), hoses, fresh fluids, a brake service and 4 new Hankook 235/70-15 all season tires, (under 10 miles) and alignment.

The factory original full size Dayton spare is present, while it holds air and is not dry rotted, I would not rely upon it.

The bottle jack and tire tool are in their factory provision under the hood.

Dual fuel tanks, the switch over works fine.

The 8' bed is in great shape showing only light scuff wear, the tailgate opens and closes properly, and the cargo lamp works.

The truck is wired with a period correct brake controller.

All original keys, owners manual, warranty book, assorted operational pamphlets, purchase titling contract, build sheet and the original sales brochure will accompany the sale of the truck.

At 36 years of age, the C-10 looks, runs and drives great!  It is a very solid and tight truck.  It goes down the road effortlessly, and stops accordingly.  It has the power to accelerate, when needed.

You are bidding to purchase the C-10, not to be the first to look at it.  Inspections are welcomed and will be facillitated to the best of my ability prior to the auction concluding.  Thank you.

Please have your funding in place prior to placing your bid.  Thank you.

Please consult with your spouse, therapist, pet or Magic 8-Ball prior to placing your bid, as I am not running a clinic for the confused.  Thank you.

I have set a reasonable and fair reserve for the C-10.  It is commensurate with the condition of the truck, the care it has received, the ownership history, and the very low miles.

Do NOT ask me what the reserve is, as I will not disclose it.  Bid what you can afford and are willing to pay for the "survivor" 1978 Chevy C-10 Fleetside BIG-10 Cheyenne pickup truck, that you see before you.

A $1000.00 initial payment is due within 24 hours of auction close VIA PayPal.  The balance is then due and payable within 7 days thereafter under condition and arrangement made between myself and the buyer.

I prefer that the balance be paid VIA a legitimate bank to bank wire transfer as it provides a documented record of the transaction for both parties.  I will accept PayPal for the entire purchase ONLY if the buyer pays ALL PayPal related fees including the initial payment.  Cash in person upon arrival is also acceptable for the balance.

If you are new to eBay, have 0% feedback, less than 10 eBay transactions, or excessive negative feedback, you will need to CALL ME prior to submitting your bid to express your intentions, otherwise your bid will be cancelled, and you will be blocked from further bidding.  This guideline is in place due to disingenuous bidders that place bids, win auctions, and then fail to fulfill their purchase commitment(s).  Thank you.

If you cannot or will not abide by any of these simple terms, please do not bid.  I am a legitimate seller simply seeking a legitimate buyer.  Thank you.

Transportation and or delivery is the sole responsibility of the buyer.  Trailered delivery is possible within the lower 48 states for $1000.00. (non-negotiable)  I can also recommend a reputable shipper for you, if needed.  If you make your own arrangements, I will assist in coordinating with your chosen shipper.

The truck and I are located in the Colorado Springs vicinity.  If you choose to fly in and drive home, I will gladly pick you up from the airport in Colorado Springs.

While I am confident that the truck could be driven home safely to anywhere in America, bear in mind that it is a 36 year old truck and as such, the pragmatic approach would be to ship it.  Also given the age of the truck, it is understood by the buyer that it is being sold in "as is" condition, with no expressed, written or implied warranties.

I strive to thoroughly represent a vehicle honestly and accurately.  Those that have purchased my vehicles are consistantly pleased, with expectations exceeded.

Buyers from the U.S., Canada, the UK, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand are welcome and encouraged to bid with confidence.

This is a relatively inexpensive truck that most anyone can afford and enjoy for many years to come.  To those interested, yes, the truck is "EMP proof".

Clear Colorado title in my name.  I am not a dealer.  I am a collector hobbyist that is eager to commence on a project that necessitates the space presently occupied by the Chevy.  The truck and title will not be released until full payment has been received.

Ebay only provides for 24 pictures.  I have chosen pictures that best present a concise overview of the truck.  If you would like any area specific pictures, simply request them.

If you would like to discuss a "buy it now", call me directly and present your offer.  DO NOT call and ask me, "what's the lowest that you'll take?"

I answer my phone quicker than I respond to e-mail, call me with any questions.  If you reach my voice mail, leave a message, and I will return your call promptly.

Thanks for looking and good luck when you bid!

Jeff

Chevy shows much-improved 2014 Corvette interior in new video

Mon, 11 Feb 2013

If you want a closer look at what went into designing and building the interior for the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette, we've got just the thing. General Motors has released a new video detailing the cabin's evolution from conception to execution, complete with commentary from Ryan Vaughn, performance car interior design manager with Chevrolet. The quick clip details how manufacturing, engineering and design within General Motors worked together from the first sketches to ensure no compromises had to be made later down the line. How novel.
With plenty of hides traced with contrast stitching and available real carbon fiber trim, the cabin looks to be a few hundred miles ahead of the C6. Given how readily critics derided the previous generation for its cabin, the C7 should make writers work a little harder to find something to complain about. Check out the video below for yourself.

Amelia Island 2013: Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray from concepts to split windows

Wed, 13 Mar 2013

While this year marks 60 years of the Chevrolet Corvette, the 2013 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance focused on one of the coupe's most sought after models, the 1963 Sting Ray. General Motors design boss Ed Welburn was on hand to show off the all-new C7 Corvette, but even the hard-edged styling of the 2014 Stingray couldn't take away from the beautiful 1963 models sitting out on the field.
In addition to the original Sting Ray and the 1959 Sting Ray Concept, some of the other classic 'Vettes included "Big Tank" racecars, an interesting cutaway coupe, a right-hand-drive Z06 and the attention-grabbing 1963 Corvette Rondine by Pininfarina. Another impressive Corvette was the 1964 Corvette XP-819 rear-engine prototype. Owner Mike Yager had the car finished as a driving chassis for this year's show, but promises the car will be back to its original glory in time for next year's event.

Impala SS vs. Marauder: Recalling Detroit’s muscle sedans

Thu, Apr 30 2020

Impala SS vs. Marauder — it was comparo that only really happened in theory. ChevyÂ’s muscle sedan ran from 1994-96, while MercuryÂ’s answer arrived in 2003 and only lasted until 2004. TheyÂ’re linked inextricably, as there were few options for powerful American sedans during that milquetoast period for enthusiasts. The debate was reignited recently among Autoblog editors when a pristine 1996 Chevy Impala SS with just 2,173 miles on the odometer hit the market on Bring a Trailer. Most of the staff favored the Impala for its sinister looks and said that it lived up to its billing as a legit muscle car. Nearly two-thirds of you agree. We ran an unscientific Twitter poll that generated 851 votes, 63.9 percent of which backed the Impala. Muscle sedans, take your pick: — Greg Migliore (@GregMigliore) April 14, 2020 Then and now enthusiasts felt the Impala was a more complete execution with guts. The Marauder, despite coming along later, felt more hacked together, according to prevailing sentiments. Why? On purpose and on paper theyÂ’re similar. The ImpalaÂ’s 5.7-liter LT1 V8 making 260 horsepower and 330 pound-feet of torque was impressive for a two-ton sedan in the mid-Â’90s. The Marauder was actually more powerful — its 4.6-liter V8 was rated at 302 hp and 318 lb-ft. The ImpalaÂ’s engine was also used in the C4 Corvette. The MarauderÂ’s mill was shared with the Mustang Mach 1. You can see why they resonated so deeply with Boomers longing for a bygone era and also captured the attention of coming-of-age Gen Xers. Car and DriverÂ’s staff gave the Marauder a lukewarm review back in ‘03, citing its solid handling and features, yet knocking the sedan for being slow off the line. In a Hemmings article appropriately called “Autopsy” from 2004, the ImpalaÂ’s stronger low-end torque and smooth shifting transmission earned praise, separating it from the more sluggish Mercury. All of this was captured in the carsÂ’ acceleration times, highlighting metrically the differences in their character. The Impala hit 60 miles per hour in 6.5 seconds, while the Marauder was a half-second slower, according to C/D testing. Other sites have them closer together, which reinforces the premise it really was the little things that separated these muscle cars. Both made the most of their genetics, riding on ancient platforms (FordÂ’s Panther and General MotorsÂ’ B-body) that preceded these cars by decades. Both had iconic names.
