This is a nice '72 Chevy 1/2 ton 4X4 short box pickup with a lift kit. I consider it to be a project truck as it needs the body finished, is missing some parts and would require some electrical components hooked up. It does run and drive in it's present condition. I believe it has a 4 inch suspension lift as well as Rancho shocks, rebuilt turbo 350 transmission and rebuilt 350 engine. The gas tank has been relocated to the rear between the frame rails. It would have been located behind the seat from the factory. The seat has been upgraded to an '05 Avalanche one with cup holders and a center console. A nice thing about the seat upgrade is the seat belts are integrated into the seat. The truck is running on 33 inch all terrain tires which have a lot of tread left, plus it appears to have a posi rear differential. The cab, fenders, doors and box are virtually rust free which is pretty rare on a truck this age. The box does have some dents but again no rust. A few other cool features are a rear roll pan which eliminates the rear bumper, big aluminum radiator and electric fan. The previous owner didn't have any receipts but told me the engine and transmission had been rebuilt. He said the engine was an older 4 bolt main block with Vortech heads. It runs pretty good and has good oil pressure but could probably use a little tuning and dialing in. It has a new Summit dual feed carburetor, Edelbrock air gap intake to fit late model heads, long tube headers and a Mallory distributor. As you can see in the pictures the inside of the cab and jams have already been painted. It is a reddish orange that looks to me like a color these trucks came with from the factory. I have checked and topped off the gear cases with fluid and driven it around a bit to verify how everything works. It has a later model delco internally regulated alternator which is in working order. I verified this with a voltmeter as the guage in the cab is not connected at this time. Another interesting thing is that the cab had factory air conditioning although it is not hooked up at present. As you can see in the photos there is a Harrison A6 compressor, lines and condenser included with the truck but I do not know what their condition is. The compressor does still turn freely though. The main things that are missing are the inner fenderwells on the front which run around $120.00 each new. The guage panel is not hooked up but has the rare factory tach. Also the glove box door, door handles and window cranks, one window regulator, some lenses, and some other trim pieces are missing. I do not have a front grille either but the grille surround piece is in really good condition and I have been told that's a very expensive piece. The truck also has a tilt steering column of unknown origin, the steering wheel appears to be one from an older Camaro. The lights and turn signals are not hooked up at present. I have tried the 4 wheel drive and the Warn lockout hubs and that all seems to work fine including low range. I know there is some work required to get the truck finished but I believe this would be a great project for a bodyman or someone who has another truck to use for parts. You just don't see many of the 4 wheel drive short box versions and it has a great stance. The gas filler is in the right hand fenderwell at present but some people have made the tail light or side marker light open up to fill the gas tank when it's been relocated. You just have to use your imagination. I have tried to represent this truck as honestly as possible and do have it advertised locally so reserve the right to end the auction early if I have a local buyer. I have transferred the title into my name and am waiting for it to come back from the DMV.

Stolen '57 Chevy Returned To Owner After 30 Years

Fri, Feb 21 2014

Three decades after it was stolen, a 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air has been returned to a Northern California man - in better shape than when he originally owned it. The Santa Rosa Press Democrat reports Ian "Skip" Wilson was shocked to get a call from the California Highway Patrol informing him that his long-lost Chevy was taken off an Australia-bound cargo ship. The 65-year-old says the car has had a lot of work done on it since it disappeared from his Lake County home in 1984. It was returned with a monogrammed interior, 17-inch racing wheels, rack-and-pinion steering and a 350-horsepower V-8 engine. The retired mechanic says the two-door was in sorry shape when he bought it for $375 in 1975 with plans for fixing it up. 8 cars we're most looking forward to driving in 2015

Mon, Jan 5 2015

Now that 2014 is officially in the books, it's time to look ahead. And following our list of the cars we liked best last year, we're now setting our sights at the hot new metal that's coming our way in 2015. Some of these, we've already seen. And some are still set to debut during the 2015 auto show season. But these are the machines that keep us going – the things on the horizon that we're particularly stoked to drive, and drive hard. Jeep Renegade Not the Chevrolet Corvette Z06. Not the Ford Mustang GT350. Not the new John Cooper Works Mini. Nope, I'm looking forward to the adorable, trail-rated Jeep Renegade. And that's because I really, really, really like our long-term Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk. I do not, however, care too much for the Cherokee's looks, and I really don't like its $38,059 price tag. The Renegade Trailhawk, meanwhile, promises much of the same rough-and-tumble character as its big brother, but at what we expect will be a more reasonable price (I'm personally wagering on the baby Jeep's off-road model starting at no more than $23,000). With a 2.4-liter four-cylinder and a nine-speed automatic, it should also be a bit easier to fill than the V6-powered Cherokee. Also, I can't help but love the way the Renegade looks. It's like someone took a Wrangler, squished it by 50 percent and then handed it off to George Clinton for a healthy dose of funk. The interior, with its bright, expressive trims and color schemes should also be a really nice place to spend some time. I'll be attending the Renegade's launch later this month, so I'll have a much shorter wait than my colleagues. Here's hoping the baby Jeep lives up to my expectations. – Brandon Turkus Associate Editor Mazda MX-5 Miata Here's an uncomfortable truth: I'd rather spend a day driving a properly sorted Mazda MX-5 Miata of any generation on a winding road than I would nearly any other vehicle, regardless of power, price or prestige. It's not just that I prize top-down driving and enjoy the Miata's small size because it gives me more road to play with. I just find there's more motoring joy to be had with high-fidelity handling and an uncorrupted car-to-driver communication loop than I do with face-distorting power or grip – let alone valet-stand gravitas. But perhaps most of all, I love Miatas because they can deliver that level of feedback and driver reward at modest speeds that won't put the locals on edge or endanger lives – you can use more of the car more of the time.

Canada opens probe into 250,000 GM pickups, SUVs over brake performance

Sun, Jun 23 2019

Transport Canada, the auto safety regulator, has opened a probe into braking issues in nearly 250,000 General Motors full-size pickups and SUVs after U.S. officials launched a similar probe last year, the agency said on its website. The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in November into 2.73 million U.S. 2014-2016 model year SUVs and pickups after receiving 487 reports of hard brake pedal effort accompanied by extended stopping distance that were attributed to deterioration of the engine-driven brake assist vacuum pump. Transport Canada's probe covers 249,700 2015 through 2017 model year vehicles including the Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Suburban, Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon as well as 2014-2017 Chevrolet Silverado LD and GMC Sierra LD vehicles. The U.S. agency said it had reports of nine incidents of vehicles incurring damage as a result of colliding with another vehicle or fixed object at low speeds and reports of two injuries. NHTSA said if the pump fails to operate, the amount of brake power assist can be significantly reduced, extending vehicle stopping distance. The NHTSA sent GM an information request in a Feb. 7 letter. A GM spokesman said he had no update on the investigation. Reporting by David Shepardson; editing by Jonathan Oatis
