1971 Chevy Cheyenne Super SWB. Loaded. 350 small block, turbo 350 trans, power steering, power disc brakes, tilt steering, air conditioning, tachometer, houndstooth seat, cargo lamp, sway bar, rally wheels, dual exhaust. Complete frame off restoration.

History: I bought this truck from the original owner who purchased it new in April of 1971 from Class-Morse Chevrolet in Kansas City. It is a true Cheyenne Super (original label is on the inside of the glovebox door) and I have the original owner’s manual and some other paperwork. The truck was a mostly original Cheyenne Super longbed that the original owner and son had recently restored. They had taken the truck apart, down to the frame, media blasted the sheet metal and sandblasted the frame/suspension, replaced brake tubing, pads, shoes, etc. and painted everything. They replaced the engine with a 350 that had about 10k miles on it. They also replaced the cab corners and rocker panels and painted it black (which was not the original color; it was originally the color it is now – light red/white). They had it pretty well done when I bought it from them but I did not like the fact that they changed colors to black and I’m a shortbed guy so I removed the cab and sheet metal, repainted everything top to bottom and inside out, put in a new transmission, had the differential rebuilt with new 3:73 gears and bearings, and had a new power steering sector, pitman arm and ball joints installed. While the cab was removed, the frame was correctly shortened using offset, radius cuts and 24"x5" fishplates made of 1/4 plate steel that were perimeter welded to the inside of each frame rail. The work was performed by an professional AWS certified welder with extensive experience in frame and fabrication. The work is right, stronger than original, and nearly impossible to locate or see even from under the truck. Check out the photos and you will see. The complete bed assembly is brand new from LMC Truck Parts in Kansas City including bedsides, floor, wheel wells, and front panel. The tailgate is from a 3/4 ton '71 Cheyenne Super Camper Special truck and was in mint condition because it had been removed and put in a garage when that truck was new. The truck was given a 2" front and 3" rear suspension drop using a spring kit from LMC. The truck is fitted with a brand new Classic Auto Air Perfectfit A/C system and it blows cold! The entire truck was prepped and painted the original colors with Dupont basecoat/clearcoat, and the underside of the truck looks as good as the outside. The chrome is new including grille, door and window handles, mirrors, body side moldings, bumpers, tailgate trims, and nameplate. The seat was reupholstered with houndstooth inserts as original and the headliner, mirror, dashpad, carpet, woodgrain inserts, door panels, and armrests are all new. The windshield and backglass are also new along with the seals and weatherstrips. The door glass is original but window felts and run channels are new. The vent glass and seals are original and so are the sunvisors.

Nearly every part on the truck is new from Classic Chevy, LMC Truck Parts, or NAPA Auto Parts and I have most of the receipts. The list of new parts is too long to list everything, but some noteworthy items are:

Mechanical:
A/C system from Classic Auto Air                     Turbo 350 Transmission

Edlebrock carburetor                                           3:73 gears and bearings

Steering sector                                                     Dual exhaust

Alternator                                                             Starter

Battery/cables                                                       Brakes

Ball joints                                                             Tires
Engine/transmission mounts                                Cab/radiator support mounts

Interior:

Seat                                                                       Carpet

Headliner and chrome                                          Dashpad

Steering wheel                                                      Armrests

Dashboard bezel                                                   Tachometer

Dome and cargo lamps                                         Heat/air controller

Stereo                                                                    Mirror

Bed assembly                                                       Cab corners/rocker panels
Chrome bumpers                                                 Grille

Side moldings                                                      Tailgate trim

Door handles                                                        Mirrors

I also upgraded to a new HEI distributor, new internally regulated one-wire alternator, aluminum intake and new Edelbrock carburetor. The stereo looks like original but is actually an AM/FM digital stereo with MP3, iPOD, and CD capability. Tires are brand new and I just had it aligned. It has less than 500 miles on it since completion of the restoration.

The truck is amazing and catches attention everywhere but it’s not perfect.

- The turn signal doesn't cancel when you turn right (cancels on left turns).

- The horn just quit working and I haven't figured out why yet.

- The right door glass slowly creeps down about 1/8 inch after driving it a while.

- The windshield washer doesn’t work

- The right door is a little harder to shut since I put the new seals on. The left door closes great.

I was only able to upload 24 photos for this auction but you can view more pictures of this build as well as others I've completed at https://1971chevycheyennesuper.shutterfly.com/pictures#n_5   (Press the “Ctrl” key and click on website, or copy and paste into your browser)

Check out my work and bid with confidence. I've built, restored, and sold several hotrods and restorations on Ebay with no complaints whatsoever. Located 30 minutes north of Joplin, Missouri or 2 hours south of Kansas City and I welcome anyone who wants to inspect it and drive it prior to bidding. I have clear Kansas title in hand and can work with any shipper. I reserve the right to end the auction early.

2020 Ford Escape hybrids vs other crossover fuel sippers: How they compare on paper

Wed, Apr 3 2019

Along with a new generation of Escape, Ford also reintroduced the world to the 2020 Ford Escape Hybrid. And if that weren't enough, Ford is adding a plug-in hybrid version. This is a sign of the times: people are more crossover crazy than ever, but are also seeking ways to use less fuel, whether it's for environmental or purely money-motivated reasons. The Ford hybrids aren't the only fuel-efficient compact crossovers on the market. They will be going head-to-head with conventional hybrids including the 2019 Kia Niro, 2019 Nissan Rogue Hybrid and 2019 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid. There are other plug-in hybrids including the 2019 Subaru Crosstrek PHEV, 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV and the plug-in version of the 2019 Kia Niro. There are even a couple diesels in the form of the 2019 Chevy Equinox and 2019 GMC Terrain. So we've rounded up the details on all these crossovers to see who leads and lags in criteria such as power, fuel efficiency, space and price. Check out all their details below. 2019 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid View 68 Photos How do their engines and fuel economy compare? Conventional Hybrids and Diesels Let's face it, if you're buying one of these crossovers, one of the things that matters most to you is just how frugal with fuel they are. We'll start off with the conventional hybrids and diesels, and the clear victor is the Kia Niro, which in base FE trim, manages to hit 50 mpg combined. This is thanks to it sharing its powertrain with the Hyundai Ioniq, the Hyundai equivalent of the Toyota Prius. Buyers should take note that only the FE returns such high fuel economy. The LX and EX drop to 49 mpg, and the S Touring and Touring get 43. Even then, the least efficient Niro is the most efficient of the normal hybrids and diesels. It is nearly the least powerful, though, with 139 horsepower. Just behind it is the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid. It delivers 40 mpg combined, and it has an ace up its sleeve: it comes standard with all-wheel drive. Every other vehicle in this powertrain group has front drive standard, and the Niro isn't available with all-wheel drive at all. If that weren't enough, the RAV4 Hybrid also boasts the most power at 219 horses. While we can't say anything about Escape Hybrid fuel economy, we do know that it will make 198 horsepower, which is close to the class-leading RAV4. The least powerful of these is the Equinox and Terrain, and they return the worst fuel economy at 32 mpg.

Here are all the EVs with 800V charging available in 2024

Fri, May 31 2024

As technology advances, electric cars are improving their fast-charging times. That means less time spent waiting at a DC public charger when you’re out on the road. While Level 3 chargers used to provide a maximum of 150 kilowatts of power, 350-kW chargers are become more common, making for super-fast charging Â… if your car is capable of taking advantage of it. So how do automakers improve the charging speed of their EV batteries? Some are turning to higher voltage, specifically 800V charging. What's the difference between 800-volt charging and 400-volt charging? So how does 800V charging improve upon the more common 400V EVs? Put simply, the higher the voltage, the less amperage (current) it requires to charge. In other words, with more voltage, you get more wattage (power, aka charge rate) from the same amperage (current). 800V architecture is also more efficient, with less electrical resistance, so it can use thinner cables and smaller, lighter components while needing less cooling. The tradeoff is that it is more costly, and guess who that cost gets passed on to. While automakers don't break down their pricing to show how much more you're paying for that 800V system, you'll just have to evaluate any potential purchases as a whole, and make your decision based on overall pricing of the vehicle. Thankfully, the 800V EVs on sale now are generally ones we like. Now, 800V charging capability doesn't necessarily mean an EV has 800V vehicle architecture. For instance, the GMC Hummer EV and Chevy Silverado EV operate at 400V, but with their dual battery packs, can switch to 800V when charging by temporarily connecting those packs in series. Currently, there are only a handful of EVs available with 800V charging. But if you are going to find yourself taking longer trips in your EV and using DC fast chargers more often, you might want to consider choosing one with this faster charging capability. With that in mind, these are the EVs available with 800V charging, either on sale now or coming in 2024. 800-volt EVs available in 2024 Audi E-Tron GT Chevrolet Silverado EV Genesis GV60 Genesis Electrified G80 Genesis Electrified GV70 GMC Hummer EV Pickup GMC Hummer EV SUV GMC Sierra EV* Hyundai Ioniq 5 Hyundai Ioniq 6 Kia EV6 Kia EV9 Lotus Eletre* Lotus Emeya* Lucid Air Lucid Gravity* Porsche Macan Electric* Porsche Taycan Ram 1500 REV* Tesla Cybertruck *Coming later in 2024 Green Audi Chevrolet Genesis GMC Hyundai Kia Lotus Porsche Tesla Electric Lucid EV charging

Sunday Drive: Taking a gaze into the automotive crystal ball

Sun, Oct 22 2017

Mankind has long been fascinated by the future. So it makes sense that this past week's top stories were all about cars, trucks, and SUVs that won't be hitting the market until the 2019 model year. And right at the top of the list is the Ram 1500. We've come to know Ram as the truck maker that styles its pickups with cues cribbed from big rigs, but that look has slowly evolved over time into something uniquely its own. The next Ram 1500 continues this trend, with a newly refined look that we can't wait to see in person. Up next is the 2019 Chevy Silverado. Pickup trucks have been, continue to be, and will remain the best-selling vehicles in America. And General Motors is a leader in the field, with two distinct offerings with which to entice buyers, one from the bread-and-butter Chevrolet brand and one wearing the slightly more upscale GMC badge. The Chevy looks to get LED lighting elements for 2019, which ought to keep the truck from looking dated when compared to the Ford F-150 and the previously mentioned Ram 1500. From there we move past pickup trucks and into SUVs and sedans. The 2019 Jeep Cherokee looks to get toned down a bit with its next refresh, and the '19 BMW 3 Series continues its slow evolutionary journey at the top of its aspirational sales pedestal. Finally, spy shots give way to official production reveals for the 2019 Audi A7 and Polestar 1. This pair of European luxury cars won't compete with one another – one is a rakish hatchback and the other a sports coupe – any further than for the eyeballs of our readers, but both proved popular enough to merit inclusion in our weekly roundup. As always, tune in to Autoblog next week for a front-row seat to all the happenings worth following in the automotive industry. 2019 Ram 1500 spotted without the classic crosshairs 2019 Chevy Silverado spied with new LED accents 2019 Jeep Cherokee reveals a much more normal face 2019 BMW 3 Series spy shots reveal production lights, new interior details 2019 Audi A7 revealed: More torque, refined styling Polestar 1 First Look | The 600 horsepower hybrid Scandinavian Green Audi BMW Chevrolet Jeep RAM Volvo Truck Hatchback SUV Future Vehicles Hybrid Luxury Performance Sedan sunday drive polestar 1
