1971 Cheyenne Super on 2040-cars
Cape Neddick, Maine, United States
Here is a factory 1971 Cheyenne Super not a made up conglomeration of parts. This truck was brought from Arkansas and has never seen snow that I know of. This truck has been outfitted with a brand new factory style Hounds Tooth seat cover and ACC Loop carpet. Carpet underlayment consists of the supplied Jute and the whole floor was covered in a Reflix-it style material. New stainless steel sill plates to finish it off. The door panels have been changed over to the 1972 style. This is an original A/C truck but the A/C is not working. New weather stripping around the Doors and Felts around the Door Windows. I replaced the Windshield Gasket too with the correct style. Everything but the Radio and the A/C work. The radio may I just never tried it. It is the OEM Am radio The suspension on this truck has been upgraded to KYB Shocks on all four corners. The Body Mounts have all been changed to Poly-Urethane along with the Front and Rear Sway Bar mounts. The Front sway Bar has been changed to a 1.5 and the Rear Bar is a 23 mm from an IROC Z. The front and rear have been dropped using CPP springs 4.0 in the Rear and 3.0 in the Front. The Rear also has a CPP adjustable dropped Panhard Rod. I also installed a Power Trax locker in the rear of this truck, it still has the original 3.08 Rear Gears. Wheels are a Coys 5 spoke design 15x8 in the front dressed with 255 50 15 and the rear 15x10 dressed with 275 60 15. The tires are the same widths 10.5 but run a different diameter 28 in the rear and 26 in the front. Brakes all re built in the rear from the backing plate out to the drum. This truck is extremely tight with no rattles and goes down the road nice and solid. The suspension is set-up very nice. It rides smooth like you would expect it too not choppy and corners with ease. The cornering is very predictable and easily managed. Exhaust starts off with Hooker Super Comp long tube headers, dumps into a Pypes Stainless Steel dual exhaust system that exits in the factory locations behind the rear tires. Most of these updates have been in the last year or driving season for us in Maine. The engine is a rebuilt 454 its been bored .04 and has an aftermarket Crank kit. Its a very streetable engine. Rods resized and rings are filed to fit.CL 77 bearings with a Melling M77HV oil pump to complete the bottom end. Keith black..04 over 9.0:1 pistons. Aluminum heads Roller Rockers, Comp Cams adjustable guide plates, Comp Cam's cam custom ground for this truck, Performer RPM intake, and Edelbrock 850 cfm Thunder Series carburetor. Transmission is a rebuilt th350 shift kit with a converter 2100rpm Paint was done about 15 years ago and still looks good. This is a very dependable truck that I drive to and from work occasionally. about an hour or so each way. It does have a big 4 core radiator and has no overheating issue or bad manners sitting in traffic. I built this truck to drive. Yes this is a HOT ROD and you will not be disappointed with it. it does behave very nice and I let my 24 year old daughter drive it is that nice to drive and is manageable. key words C10 Cheyenne Cheyenne Super Chevelle Corvette Rat Rod

The Opel GT is the concept General Motors should build for the US
Sat, Feb 27 2016Now is the time. General Motors should double-down on performance cars and build the Opel GT concept that's set to debut next week at the Geneva Motor Show. Better yet, sell it in the United States as the Chevy GT. Consumers are showing a thirst for performance cars not seen in decades. Ford has them coming in waves, with everything from the F-150 Raptor to a hotted-up Fusion. FCA US is unrepentantly building loads of Hellcats. GM should respond. The General's cupboard is hardly bare. With the Corvette, Camaro, and Cadillac's V-Series, GM has more than enough to compete with its crosstown rivals and anything Europe or Japan can throw at it. But there's also an opportunity. There's not many front-mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive, two-seat sports cars out there like the Opel GT concept. A Chevy GT that used that layout and captured some of the concept car's proportions and curves would ignite a different kind of passion in enthusiasts. It would be Miata-like. With Chevy branding, this sports car would be the everyday exotic. The concept has a turbocharged 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine, which makes about 143 horsepower to motivate a structure that weighs less than 2,200 pounds. It can hit 60 miles per hour in less than eight seconds. All of those numbers are within the front-engined Miata's territory. This new Opel is inspired by two great mid-1960s concepts that helped put its design studio, and that of its sister brand, the British Vauxhall, on the map. (The GT concept is also technically a Vauxhall, as the brands are linked in GM's European strategy.) One of them, the '66 Vauxhall XVR remained a concept. The '65 Opel Experimental GT was on the road by 1968. That shows this is doable. There's precedent. The Saturn Sky and Pontiac Solstice shared a chassis with a modern GT during that trio's brief run. If GM ever makes this concept, Opel and Vauxhall should get their versions. But Chevy is the one that could make this car a global icon. Chevrolet GT. Make it happen. News & Analysis News: The potential return of the Ford Bronco is generating a ton of attention. Analysis: That's not news, per se. But when the Bronco6G.com fan site did a rendering of a next-generation Bronco, it almost broke the Internet. Everyone from Automotive News to Jalopnik picked up the illustrations. Our own post has drawn a lot of traffic and passionate responses. People are clamoring for the Bronco's return.
Detroit 3 to implement delayed unified towing standards for 2015
Tue, Feb 11 2014Car buyers have a responsibility to be well-informed consumers. That's not always a very simple task, but some guidelines are self-evident. If you live in a very snowy climate, you generally know a Ford Mustang or Chevrolet Camaro might not be as viable a vehicle choice as an all-wheel drive Explorer or Traverse, for example. If you want a fuel-efficient car, it's generally a good idea to know the difference between a diesel and a hybrid. But what if it's kind of tough to be an informed consumer? What if the information you need is more difficult to come by, or worse, based on different standards for each vehicle? Well, in that case, you might be a truck shopper. For years, customers of light-duty pickups have had to suffer through different ratings of towing capacities for each brand. For 2015 model year trucks, though, that will no longer be a problem. According to Automotive News, General Motors, Ford and Chrysler Group have announced that starting with next year's models, a common standard will be used to measure towing capacity. The Detroit Three will join Toyota, which adopted the Society of Automotive Engineers' so-called SAE J2807 standards way back in 2011. The standard was originally supposed to be in place for MY2013, but concerns that it would lower the overall stated capacity for trucks led Detroit automakers to pass. Ford originally passed, claiming it'd wait until its new F-150 was launched to adopt the new standards, leading GM and Ram to follow suit. Nissan, meanwhile, has said it will adopt the new standards as its vehicles are updated, meaning the company's next-generation Titan should adhere to the same tow ratings as its competitors. While the adoption of SAE J2807 will be helpful for light-duty customers, those interested in bigger trucks will still be left with differing standards. There is no sign of the new tow standards being adopted for the heavy-duty market.
GMC Canyon, Chevy Colorado diesels finally heading to dealers
Fri, Jan 1 2016Customers who have been waiting to receive their diesel-powered Chevrolet Colorados and GMC Canyons should be relived to hear that GM will finally start to ship them out of the Wentzville Assembly Plant. "The highly anticipated 2016 GMC Canyon diesel has begun shipping to dealers," a company spokesperson confirmed to The Detroit News. The trucks originally had a fall launch date, but a final review forced a delay in deliveries. The 2.8-liter four-cylinder diesel in the midsize trucks produces 181 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque, and the company touts the engine's low emissions. The Environmental Protection Agency and California Air Resources Board even put the mill through extra scrutiny with a real world test in the wake of VW's diesel scandal, and the Duramax passed with no problems. At that time, a Chevy spokesperson told Autoblog that the models' launch was on track. The Duramax engine adds $3,730 to the price of a comparable V6 model, but they're the most fuel-efficient pickups on the market. The EPA estimates the twins at 31 miles per gallon highway, 22 mpg city, and 25 mpg combined in two-wheel drive form and 29/20/23 with four-wheel drive. Buyers likely can't wait to finally experience these pickups after reading a heap of positive reviews. The Colorado diesel recently earned Motor Trend's Truck of the Year award. We also came away impressed with it during our First Drive and liked the Canyon during our Quick Spin. Related Video:
