IF YOU WANT TO SAVE $200, CALL. NINE GRAND OFF OF HERE. OR SEND ME A SERIOUS OFFER FOLLOWED BY A PHONE NUMBER. In June I start calling people back if no one gives full price. Anyway, this is a heavily altered 69 Chevelle Malibu. Not an SS. This car is for people who don't like to blend. If you do, there are many stock ones to choose from. Keep looking. The steering column has no key (it's in the dash). So it has that setup similar to a 1968. I bought a donor 1985 Caprice that a retired old man was selling, with only 78,000 miles on it. The drivetrain (305 4 bbl and 4 speed automatic trans) are from it. The entire floor and trunk was cut from this very solid car and welded in this one. The gas tank and rear coils and brake booster also. So it is literally 1/2 Chevelle, 1/2 Caprice. EXTERIOR: New Cragar S/S wheels. Rears 15X10 BFGoodrich P255/60R15 and fronts 15X7 BFGoodrich P205/60R15. All new (less than a year old). Plates behind the mags are custom made by me to make them look better and keep out the elements. New stainless steel brake lines and hoses. New stainless steel 2 1/2 inch exhaust with short stainless glasspacks out the sides make it very loud. Manifolds with custom made header tips. Hood is custom made from a flat hood. Scoop fabricated in, and SS grilles welded in up top where they would be originally. If you don't like the hood, I will paint and include a flat hood for free and keep the altered one, if you want. The customized stripes have flame edges and cobweb pattern throughout. The rest are spider and cobweb decals clearcoated over. Yellow basecoat/clearcoat paint. Decent amateur job, could use light buffing, but great from a distance. Just some imperfections close up. Entire underneath is POR15 coated (frame, floors, trunk, suspension). As is the inside of the quarters and fenders. All chrome is new except rocker and driprail. Rubbers are all new except driprail. Both full quarters, fenders, rockers, and bumpers are new. INTERIOR: Back seat is from the Caprice (altered to fit). Fronts are from a Cavalier. Dash is all original but painted/sewn. Seatbelts are lap from the Caprice. Stereo is a Kenwood AM/FM/CD player (new). Shifter is from an older Camaro. Car was entirely rewired and a newer push in style fuse box was installed. Back seat lights controlled by rear passengers were installed. As was a trunk light that comes on if you leave on the parking or headlights. The dual power antennas go up with ignition on, down when off. There is also a kill switch under the dash to keep them down if chosen. Trunk is fully carpeted in black. It is currently inspected and legal until June 2013. The entire brake system is new converted to power drum brakes, except the power booster is from the Caprice. An alarm was also fabricated in by me, which sounds the horns (when activated) if someone opens the trunk, hood, or door. Like I said, if you bid, it's the full price. Off here is TEN GRAND. Five seven oh, seven four oh, one two four six. Offers kept note of, if you want to offer. Spell out your phone number after offer if serious.

2014 Chevrolet Silverado tows in new configurator, microsite

Mon, 21 Jan 2013

Judging by your continued enthusiastic response to configurator notices, dear reader, you enjoy speccing out new cars as much as we do. Better still, there tends to be even more ways to personalize, configure and bloat theoretical MSRPs on full-size trucks as there are with more ordinary passenger cars. In addition to trim level, engine and transmission choices, truck buyers usually have to specify items like cab configuration, bed length, number of driven axles, tow packages, gear ratios and all sorts of bits and bobs.
That's why we're pleased to see the DIY specification utility for the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado come alive so soon after this week's Detroit Auto Show debut. While the configurator lacks pricing (General Motors hasn't announced numbers yet) and full options, you can still spec out your half-ton rig, and even print it out or email it to your friends. Beyond the configurator, the new model-specific site is pretty cool, too, with various videos and closer looks at the truck's new features.
The new Chevrolet pickup range won't be on dealer lots until sometime this summer, so whether you're a building contractor, an avid sportsman or just a guy or gal that loves full-size trucks, you might want to check out the link below to keep your appetite whetted. If you're more of a Sierra fan, well, it looks like you're going to have to wait a while - GMC hasn't updated its site yet.

What car should James Robertson buy to drive his famous 21-mile commute?

Thu, Feb 5 2015

The Internet has been abuzz this week with the story of Detroit resident James Robertson, the 56-year-old factory worker who has walked some 21 miles to work for the last 10 years. The Detroit Free Press brought Robertson's story to the fore, helping an online fundraising campaign to generate more than $275,000 (as of this writing). The original goal was just $5,000, or about enough to replace the used Honda that died on Robertson back in 2005, and left him walking. So, newly flush with funds, what's the perfect car for Robertson to buy? Let's look at the specifics of his situation, and try to pick out the best options. Here's what we know: Robertson's commute is (famously) 21 miles; he lives in downtown Detroit (for now) and seems pretty humble, so something very flashy is probably out; former Honda aside, his ties to the city (and statements about being a Ford fan) seem to indicate a Detroit Three company product is best; he's a single guy with a girlfriend; he's got to deal with Michigan weather, and the sometimes fickle snow removal processes in The D. Here are some choices: Ford F-150 Robertson is on record as being a Taurus fan, and after a decade of walking I've no doubt that the big sedan would offer a cozy respite. Still, as a car guy and a student of the industry, I'd have a hard time recommending a sedan so clearly in need of replacement. Especially when The Blue Oval has such great stuff within the rest of its roster. The 2015 F-150 seems almost perfect for Robertson. Opting for either of the new EcoBoost V6 engines should help keep fuel bills in reasonable check, while healthy ride height and four-wheel drive will get him to work on time even during the snowiest of snow days. Better still, with a fat options sheet and car-like ride quality, Robertson can have just about every amenity he might want, in a package that won't disrespect his blue-collar roots. Chevrolet Colorado You guys saw this one coming, right? The smaller footprint of the midsize Chevy pickup, relative to some of the other options here, should be an advantage for urban parking and driving. And again, 4x4 is an option for the nasty weather, the running costs should stay pretty low and there aren't many tech/luxury features that can't be had in-cabin. I'd go ahead and splash out on the Crew Cab bodystyle, too, just in case Robertson feels like starting a carpool.
