Here we go. The wife says I have too many toys, so I am listing my beloved Chevelle SS. This beautiful car was a 2 year, full, ground up restoration completed in 2010 and has under 3,000 miles on her. I have owned many nice, classic muscle cars over the years and this is truly the nicest and best driving classic I have seen in a good while. I am the second owner since the restoration. The car is a clone and was done perfectly as such. Now for the goodies. Most of the car was restored with brand new parts. That is to say that most of the car is new even though it's a 1970 muscle car. What parts are not new were reconditioned or rebuilt. The overall condition of the car is a 9.5 with the body being a 10 and the paint at a 9.0. The body is flawless and there isn't a speck of rust anywhere on this car. 100% rust free. It has new fenders, new quarter panels, new floor pan, new hood, new trunk deck lid, new bumpers, new front windshield, and new side view mirrors. All of the trim pieces look like new. It's just a spectacular car that would win almost any local car shows. Paint has been clear coated as well. This car needs absolutely nothing. Power steering and power assist brakes, and air conditioning.

The interior is a solid 9 out of 10 as well. Most of the interior is also new with the exception of some original pieces like the instrument panel, column shift and blinker control. Everything on the car works, including the horns. It even has the original AM/FM radio 8 track player. I don't know if the 8 track player works because I don't have any 8 track tapes. New seats, new headliner, new carpet, new door panels. The seat belts are originals. The steering wheel is not new, but it is an SS wheel. The dash pad is new.

The suspension is restored to stock. New springs, new shocks, new bushings, tie rods and ball joints. It drives like a real dream. Inside the car it's the most comfortable and quiet muscle car I have ever driven. A real pleasure to cruise in and drive. Inside the car you won't hear a single sound, like an annoying squeak or rattle sound. That's because this car was built right.

The drive train is also spectacular. A big block, 454 cubic inch engine drives this sexy car with a Turbo Hydomatic 350 transmission and 4:11 gears in the 10 bolt rear end. It has way more power than anyone would ever need on the street. The rear end was installed with an Eaton posi traction unit. It's not a one legger. It has new tires and wheels. The tires are BFG Radial TA, P275R60/15 in back and P245R60/15 in front. The wheels are American Racing brand wheels.

The 454 was balanced and blue printed and has .030 forged JE pistons, 9.5:1 compression ratio, big GM rods and a GM steel crankshaft. Indexed crankshaft .010, which is a very nice feature. Indexing is part of the blueprint process and is very important so that compression, because of deck height variation due to different stroke between rod journals, can change compression ratios between cylinders. Also swing (degrees apart between rod journals) will change the relationship between the camshaft and crankshaft. If you want more strength and longevity from your engine this is a must. The engine is kept cool with a 4 core radiator and a clutch fan with a proper shroud. It never overheats.

The intake manifold is a new Edelbrock, Performer Air-gap 2 and on top sits a new Edelbrock 750 CFM carburetor. Melling oil pump installed. Hydraulic roller, Crane cam and Isky hydraulic lifters in the top end. Gross lift of the cam is .530/.540. GM oval port heads 049 with stainless steel valves. Crane valve springs and retainers and bronze valve guides. The exhaust has Hooker long tube headers with a 3" exhaust all the way to the tips. The exhaust pipes are aluminized. It even has some open exhaust cut-outs welded into the pipe behind the headers. The ignition system starts the car easily even in cold weather and comes with an HEI distributor and MSD spark plug wires. The car will not need any tuning. It's not running fat or lean and never produces any smoke at all. Oh, and the gas tank is new as well. There is so much awesome stuff that it's kind of hard to remember it all.

Send me your email address and I will send you a link to watch two videos I have showing the car better than still photos can and allowing you the opportunity to hear the car's engine running. I also have many more pictures available than what I was able to post here. A tastefully done and lightly resto-modded car. Whoever wins this car will not be disappointed at all. She's a real beauty and a pleasure to drive. Bid hard and prosper.

On Jan-24-13 at 11:59:11 PST, seller added the following information:

The transmission is a TH400 (Turbo Hydromatic 400) and not the 350. I must of had a brain fart when I typed 350.

On Jan-31-13 at 10:05:38 PST, seller added the following information:

I lowered the reserve price today.

Looking back on our favorite cars of Mad Men

Tue, Apr 7 2015

The second half of the seventh and final season of Mad Men debuted this week, set to cap a run of public and critical acclaim. A decade's worth of interesting cars also made for good television, if you were paying attention. Vehicles didn't often steal the spotlight from Don, Betty, Roger, Joan and the gang, but they added meaningfully to the tone and beauty of the series. We sorted through the wheeled extras from Mad Men's archives, and choose some of our favorites to highlight. The list consists of cars that had at least a small impact on the plot of an episode, though certainly there are worthy gems hiding in just about every street and driving scene. Check out our subjective top five, and then let us know which of the Mad Men cars would be on your list. 1962 Cadillac Coupe DeVille – Season 2 Don Draper's Cadillac Coupe DeVille, all 500 feet of it, shows up in a few seasons of the show, but it's the first appearance that sets the tone. A Cadillac salesman, cut from the same cloth as Draper, asks what Don drives right now. "A Dodge," Don admits. "Those are wonderful if you want to get somewhere," allows the salesman, "this is for when you've already arrived." For a man on the move up corporate and social ladders that's a powerful message, and a pitch-perfect car. 1961 Lincoln Continental – Season 3 The most stylish Lincoln Continental ever is perfect set dressing for the mod show, of course. Though it's interesting that the car isn't cast as dapper Draper's ride, but rather his father-in-law's. Grandpa Gene does what all great grandfathers are bound to: lets his granddaughter Sally drive the big Lincoln while he works the pedals. Generational bond secured, in fine fashion. When you go back through the first three seasons of the show, you'll notice that Continentals show up more than once, too. There's nothing quite like them to evoke the best of the early '60s. 1963 John Deere 110 – Season 3 The only non-standard passenger vehicle on the list, no self-respecting gearhead/Mad Men fan should quibble with the inclusion of the John Deere 110 riding mower. For starters, the Deere is lovely to look at; a miniature version of the American Heartland icon in its green and yellow duds. The 110 appears as if milled from a solid block of steel, just the opposite of today's sleek, plasticky lawn minders (we're scouring Craigslist for one to bring home). The John Deere also has dear ramifications to the plot, too.

Dodge vs. Chevy tug-of-war taken to the extreme

Mon, 17 Dec 2012

They say "idle hands are the devil's playground," but said playgrounds grow to Disney-sized proportions when a pair of jacked-up trucks, two egos, a chain and an empty mall parking lot are involved. Proof of this is the video below, which shows a Cummins-powered Dodge Ram circa 2006 to 2008 chained tail-to-tail with what looks to be a gasoline-powered Chevrolet Silverado from the late 1990s or early 2000s.
We don't necessarily have to tell you who wins this battle, but we'll let you see for yourself the lengths the "winning" driver goes to prove his point. There's plenty of foul language in the video below, so beware that this might be Not Safe For Work, and not that we should have to tell you, but please, do not try this at home.
