This 1970 Big Block 454 RestoMod has had a tremendous overhaul done to it and has been garage kept in a temperature regulated garage.  The recent restoration was completed January, 2013.  As soon as the car was delivered, the entire interior was stripped.  All new floors were welded throughout the vehicle along with a complete new undercoat.  The car was then lined with custom cut Dynamat material throughout all the floors, doors and trunk.  Custom fabricated shoulder seatbelts were installed in the front and rear of the car.  Then, the seats all received new cushion and a special paint was applied.  The wiring was redone where needed.  A new steering crank shaft was installed along with a 1970 SS steering wheel.  The AC unit was checked and fully functioning.  A new Retro classic style head unit was installed along with 2, 4x6 JBL speakers as well as 2, 6x9 JBL speakers in the rear.  2 Amps with a 10” subwoofer were custom fit in the trunk along with all wiring.  New door handles and window crank shafts were installed as was the rear deck meshing.  The 3 speed shifter was rewired along with all wiring to front and rear lights as well as reverse lights.  The interior was then reassembled with updated headliner, door panels and carpet.  It was then onto adding 4 disc brakes, shocks and springs.  An air-ride suspension was installed along with an adaptor in the trunk to raise or lower the suspension.  An entire new fuel line from front to back was assembled as was a new rear axle, front and rear suspension with a Posi differential.  The chrome, large off-set AmericanRacing rims were installed on the vehicle.  Inside the engine, the engine was tested, everything was properly aligned, and a new battery and battery wiring was complete.  All new cabeling with heat wraps were installed for protection from this massive engine.  Additionally, a new, large, chrome alternator was installed to handle the power this car outputs. The horn was customized with an Dixie trumpet air horn inside the front grill.  All bulbs outside the Chevelle were replaced as was the front hood latch.  The final step besides the MasterFlo duel exhaust, was to add an Electronic Muffler Bypass, or cutout with an electronic switch.  This allow you to not only increase the air outflow but sound from this beast of an engine.  Windows and window trim was tested and resealed where necessary.  Many other little tweaks were also done along the way.  The engine and paint were complete prior to me purchasing the car however I have kept it garage kept and fully washed and waxed at all times.  If you are looking for an amazing on the frame restauration where no expense was spared on updating a 1970 Chevelle Big Block 454 with a 3 speed 400 Trany, then this is the car for you.

GM Recalling 370,000 Trucks For Fire Risk

Mon, Jan 13 2014

DETROIT (AP) - General Motors is recalling 370,000 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickups from the 2014 model year to fix software that could cause the exhaust components to overheat and start a fire. The recall includes 303,000 trucks in the U.S. and 67,000 in Canada and Mexico. All of the trucks involved have 4.3-liter or 5.3-liter engines. GM said eight fires have been reported, but no injuries. One garage was damaged, the company said. All of the incidents occurred in cold weather. The company is asking customers not to leave their trucks idling unattended. GM dealers will reprogram the software for free. The company will inform owners starting Jan. 16. The major recall announcement, which came on Saturday, marred the Silverado's winning of the 2014 North American Truck of the Year Award at the Detroit Auto Show on Monday. Camaro spy shots show subtly different grille, front fascia

Sun, 03 Feb 2013

It looks like there some changes in store for the Chevrolet Camaro - the only thing is that we just don't know what Chevy has up its sleeve. Looking at these spy shots, we'd initially be inclined to think that there is just a minor facelift or a new special edition, but upon closer inspection, there are a few oddities about this car that definitely have us intrigued.
The most obvious difference on this prototype is the slightly restyled front fascia with a smaller lower air inlet and the two-bar grille. Then we get to some of the car's mysterious details. For starters, this fascia has the SS vent above the grille, but it looks to be blocked off. Granted this could just be a one-off piece used for testing. What really piqued our interest was at the rear of the car where it has quad exhaust outlets that are used on the ZL1. Could this be the LS7-powered Camaro that we reported on back in December?
At this point, your guess is as good as ours as to what we're looking at here, so let us know in the comments what you think this could be.

Ford F-150, Chevy Silverado, Toyota Tundra flunk IIHS headlight test

Tue, Oct 25 2016

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety put pickup truck headlights to the test and found that the majority of them were equipped with subpar units. The 2017 Honda Ridgeline was the only truck to earn a rating of "good." The large pickup truck test was comprised of the: 2016 to 2017 GMC Sierra, 2017 Nissan Titan, 2016 Ram 1500, 2016 to 2017 Chevrolet Silverado, 2016 to 2017 Ford F-150, and 2016 to 2017 Toyota Tundra. The Sierra's headlights earned a rating of "acceptable," the headlights found on the Titan and Ram 1500 were found to be "marginal," and the ones on the Silverado, F-150, and Tundra were rated as "poor." IIHS claims the F-150 was the most disappointing out of the large pickup trucks as both its halogen and optional LED headlights failed to provide adequate visibility during testing. The Ridgeline (which earned a "good rating"), is usually considered a midsize or small truck, though IIHS included it in the field of large pickups. The headlights on the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado, 2016 GMC Canyon, 2016 Nissan Frontier, and 2016 to 2017 Toyota Tacoma, which made up the small pickup truck group, all earned a rating of "poor." The IIHS claimed the Colorado had the worst headlights of any truck that was tested, as the base vehicle's units were only able to illuminate up to 123 feet in front of the car. The Ridgeline's headlights, for reference, were able to illuminate up to 358 feet in front of the vehicle. To conduct its test, the IIHS utilizes a special tool to measure how far light is projected out of the headlights in different driving situations. The trucks' headlights were tested in a straight line and in corners, while vehicles with high-beam assist were given extra praise. The headlights on the pickup trucks also mimic the testing that was done on small SUVs and cars earlier this year. Next year, automakers will need to fit their vehicles with headlights that earn a rating of either good or acceptable to earn the IIHS Top Safety Pick+. Related Video:
