Big Block 454 Ss Chevelle ***last Year*** Survivor on 2040-cars
Anderson, South Carolina, United States
1973 Chevelle SS 454 Very few in the country like this one Let me start out by saying that this is a “REAL” 1973 RPO Code Z15 SS Chevelle 454 Big Block survivor car with 400 automatic transmission and factory A/C. GM only produced 2100 of these cars in this configuration and this was the last year of a big block Chevelle. How many do you think still exist in original condition? This would be a great candidate for a full restoration and is the next generation of collectable Muscle cars on the rise. This car is VIN # 1D37Y3B405743 The Exterior appears to be original paint and has all the correct SS equipment available on Malibu 2 door coupe (1AD37) This Includes: Black painted grill, SS grill emblems, lower body side and wheel opening stripes, SS fender emblems, SS end panel, Body color racing style mirrors, bright drip moldings and black painted tail lamp surrounds with bright trim ring. The body appears to be completely solid and does not appear to have ever been in an accident. There is some minor surface looking rust in the lower rocker panels and the front drivers side fender has a few dents. Interior: Round instrument cluster with tach and performance gauges, black trim bezel, door trim SS emblems and SS horn shroud, factory A/C and AM radio with 8 track player. The interior is also original to the car and in need of restoration. ***NOTE*** The buyer of this car will also receive a bonus pair of correct swivel bucket seats along with the center console, correct SS shifter knob and shifter to convert this car to bucket seats. Chassis: The underside of the car is not rusted and all the floor pans are solid and in good condition. The car has its original GM 14X7 Rally wheels with special center caps (color keyed with SS stripes). The SS also came with special front and rear suspension. Additional notes about the car: Complete tune up on engine, A/C compressor and brackets put back on. (needs compressor repaired), New exhaust installed April 2014, Cracked dash pad replaced with NOS 73 Chevelle pad. The car starts and runs excellent. The motor is very smooth and the transmission shifts through all gears as it should. The car has been driven about 1200 miles without issue since tuned. The A/C needs a compressor, Freon and hoses. The paint has been looked at by 3 experts and all agree it is the original factory paint. The windshield has been cracked and will need to be replaced but all other glass is fine. This car comes with original brochures and owner’s manual. Conclusion: This is a real 73 SS 454 bigblock Chevelle in survivor condition. The car runs and drives fine and has been driven several hundred miles recently. The car comes with spare interior parts to convert to a bucket seat car with center console. It’s an A/C car but needs parts and repair. The car is solid with the only real rust through being in the rear tail panel. Pony-car sales war: Mustang vs. Camaro vs. Challenger [UPDATE]
Fri, Jul 3 2015Update: An earlier version of this story misstated the 2015 Mustang's weight when compared with previous models. Additionally, we have added comments from Chevrolet in the text. The Ford Mustang has blown past the Chevy Camaro as America's best-selling pony car, and in June, it wasn't even close. The 'Stang outsold the Camaro 11,719 to 8,611 cars. The Camaro remained ahead of the Dodge Challenger, which sold 6,845 units. Even though the Camaro did post an 11.5-percent sales improvement in June, the competition is arguably stronger than at anytime since the 1970s muscle-car era. The Mustang's sales leapt a whopping 53.6 percent, while the Challenger saw a gain of 56 percent. Several factors are weighing down Camaro sales, including its lame duck status. Chevy is launching a new generation of the Camaro this year that's more than 200 pounds lighter, offers a new turbo four-cylinder engine option, and has a nicer interior than the outgoing model. Put simply: wait a few months and you can get a better car. It's also unlikely Chevy will jack up the price much, as it's historically kept the Camaro within reach of everyday enthusiasts. While Chevy fans wait in anticipation for their new sports car, Ford and Dodge have downshifted. The new Mustang, which went on sale last year, is faster and more sophisticated than its predecessor. It also offers a 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder, which Ford has credited for the Mustang's recent uptick and makes up 36 percent of the car's sales, Ford analyst Erich Merkle said. View 17 Photos June's performance allowed the Mustang to widen its sales gap with the Camaro this year. Through the first five months, Ford sold 68,290 Mustangs, a 54.4-percent increased compared with 2014. Chevy sold 42,593 Camaros, an 8.7-percent decrease. The Challenger – long the No. 3 pony car in sales volume – has seen its sales surge 41 percent this year to 37,011 units. Spokesman Monte Doran said Chevy expected that 2015 would be a "relatively soft year" for the Camaro. "Mustang is taking advantage of years' worth of pent-up demand for an independent rear suspension," he said. "When Camaro introduced an IRS, in 2009, it helped make us the best-selling performance car in America.
C7 Corvette turbo with 1,000 horsepower promised from Hennessey
Mon, 25 Feb 2013If you can't wait for the next-generation Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, Hennessey says they will have you covered. The Texas-based company has announced it will offer a spate of upgrades for the 2014 Corvette ranging from a range of bolt-on options all the way up to a 1,000-horsepower, twin-turbo system. Buyers can start with a cold air intake, cat-back exhaust or stainless steel long-tube headers, but Hennessey says it will also offer up three stages of forced induction mayhem should those bits and baubles not provide enough thrust.
Those choices start with a supercharger system good for up to 700 hp, though Hennessey will gladly ditch the blower in favor of two turbos. Doing so will spin the crank to the tune of 800 horsepower all the way up to a certifiably ludicrous 1,000 ponies. There's no word on how much these tricks will cost you - or when they will be available, as we're guessing they haven't gotten their hands on the car yet - but you can head over to the Hennessey site to drop them a line if you're curious.
Here are all the cars GM is axing as part of its restructuring
Tue, Nov 27 2018GM plans to kill off a couple of great and a few meh cars as part of its restructuring. Here's a rundown of all the cars being phased out of production. None of the vehicles GM axed were SUVs or crossovers. Instead, it was an action reminiscent of what Ford recently decided to do by discontinuing U.S. sales every Blue Oval sedan. GM just didn't explicitly say, "We're killing our cars," like Ford did — probably a smart move by GM. Keep scrolling down to see the full list of deceased GM models. Chevrolet Volt This one was the most surprising of all the cars GM decided to can, primarily because cars with plugs are supposed to be our future. However, maybe consumer demand just isn't quite there yet for a plug-in like the Volt. We came up with all sorts of ideas for what was to blame for the untimely demise of the Volt, so go check that out for a full breakdown of the situation. Cadillac CT6 Here's another car we'll be sad to see go. Cadillac's flagship sedan was such a joy to drive, and it served as the conduit to deliver GM's semi-autonomous Super Cruise system, which still hasn't been surpassed by any other company's technology in our books, even Tesla's Autopilot. That being said, GM does plan to produce the CT6 until March, with the last cars coming off the line set to be twin-turbo V8 V-Series models. If it's going to go, this seems like a pretty great way to make an exit. We'll be patiently awaiting the next flagship Cadillac once this one finally fades away. Chevrolet Impala The Impala is actually a pretty good car. It doesn't sell terribly, and we think it's a completely satisfactory car to drive. However, people would rather have a Traverse or Equinox these days, making the Impala one of the vehicles to find itself on this list. Chevrolet is keeping its smaller brother, the Malibu, but a big, full-size sedan just isn't what people are ordering up these days. It's unfortunate to see it go, but we won't be broken up over it. Chevrolet Cruze We wouldn't rank the Cruze at the top of the compact car class, but if you were looking for a small, cheap American car, it was either this or the Focus. The Cruze had the potential to be a true small performance car if Chevy had ever wanted to make it into one. But sadly, we're seeing it bow out before Chevy ever tried to slot a hot engine and suspension in there to make it competitive with other hot hatches. A Cruze SS would have made enthusiasts take notice.
