Up for auction is a 1970 Chevelle SS.  Under the hood is a non-#'s matching 350.  Holley carb, Edelbrock Intake.  Basic engine, but runs well.  Valve covers are pitted a bit.

When I purchased the car in 2007 the previous owner just had a new windshield installed, the seats re-finished and new metal floor panels from the firewall back through the trunk.  All of the new metal is still very solid, but has acquired a bit of surface rust since I bought it.  The body panels are all solid, accept the front passenger fender.  Could be repaired, but might be easier to replace.  The rest of the body only has a few slight rust spots here and there and a few dings and dents on the doors and fenders.  The hood is rusted through in the front and will need replaced.  The leather seats look great, but the carpet is shot and the headliner is missing.  Bumpers are a little rough, and the rubber badge fell off of the rear one, but I still have it.

After I brought the car home, I pulled out the old rotted radiator and installed a much larger Griffin aluminum race rad. as well as a new tranny cooler.  I also put a new timing chain on and a new oil pump, and I tuned the car up, accept for setting the timing.  I took off the old exhaust manifolds and installed a set of Summit headers, which I never got around to hooking up to the Flowmaster exhaust system that was already on the car.

I have a pile of old parts as well as new.  The new include: headliner, door and window seals, overflow bottle for the radiator and a triple gauge pod.  Old parts include: original big block front springs, a cleaner set of doors, the rubber SS badge for the rear bumper and all of the interior pieces that are currently out of car.

For someone with the time and money this is an excellent project car.  If there are any questions please contact me by email.  This car is sold as is with no warranty included.  Buyer is responsible for shipping or pickup.

Watch this creative way to pull a truck's engine

Fri, 08 Mar 2013

Living in an apartment complex has its benefits, but for shade-tree mechanics who like/need to work on their own cars, it definitely has a number of disadvantages. Relatively simple tasks such as brake jobs and oil changes are difficult when you don't have dedicated driveway space, to say nothing of more in-depth repairs... like pulling an engine, for example.
For these types of challenges, a little ingenuity and plenty of muscle are needed to get the job done. Scroll down to watch these four men snatch the V8 out of a Chevrolet K1500 using nothing but a chain, landscape timber and good ol' fashioned brute strength. Good work, gentlemen.

Man surprises girlfriend with C7 Corvette

Mon, 07 Oct 2013

How would you react if someone just showed up at your place of work with a new, 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, complete with all the trimmings? While a lot of us would likely be flipping out over the still rare sports car, it's a fair bet many more of us would be responding like Pattie here, whose boyfriend stopped by her work to show her her new C7.
Speechless and shocked as she seems, she does end up taking it out for a drive, despite claiming she wasn't really outfitted to handle the car's seven-speed manual transmission at the time. From the sound of the video, we got the impression that she knew the car was coming, just not that it was anywhere near ready for delivery. It also, as Pattie says, seems like her boyfriend is more excited about the car than she (which, can we blame him?). Take a look down below for the full video of this C7 Stingray delivery.

Recharge Wrap-up: Free chargers for Canadian ELR buyers, Renovo gets funding for EV supercar

Chevrolet offers versions of its Express passenger van with B20 biodiesel and E85 capability. Customers can buy the van with the Duramax turbodiesel V8, which is compatible with the 20-percent biodiesel blend. There is also a FlexFuel V8, which can use the 85-percent ethanol gasoline blend. It's a great option for shuttling the whole soccer team to practice using renewable fuels. Read more at Domestic Fuels. Early buyers of the Cadillac ELR in Canada will get a 240-volt charger installed at their home for free. It should help convince some buyers to adopt the range extended luxury EV. Cadillac's Chief Marketing Officer Uwe Ellinghaus says, "Professional installation of the fastest home-charging unit is a natural way to mark the introduction of ELR to the luxury market." Read more in the press release below. Renovo has received venture capital funding from California-based True Ventures to build its Coupe electric supercar. The impressive EV, with its 500 horsepower and 1,000 pound-feet of torque, is an inspiring vehicle built by a promising company, according to its financial backers. Toni Schneider of True Ventures says that Renovo has "created incredibly advanced technology and a beautiful machine that is well positioned to disrupt the automotive market." Read more in the press release below. Renault says it will build its Fluence ZE electric car in China for an unnamed brand, pending government approval. Chief Executive Carlos Ghosn announced the plan at a test drive event in France on Monday. Renault has a partnership with Dongfeng Motors to build and sell its cars in China. Read more at Reuters. Germany has lifted its ban on Uber. While the German court believes the ride-hailing service is operating illegally without proper licensing for drivers, it says Taxi Deutschland waited too long to file the case against Uber. The taxi association plans to appeal the decision soon. See more in the video below, and read more at The New York Times. A new report from UC Davis claims that a global expansion of public transit could save 1,700 megatons of carbon dioxide yearly and over $100 trillion by 2050. A "high-shift scenario" would be necessary, wherein governments invest in rail and clean buses, expand biking and walking infrastructure and shift focus away from projects that encourage car use. This shift to public transit would especially be important in the US, China and India. Read more in the press release below.
