Up for auction is a 2004 Corvette convertible with 57k miles that I recently took on trade for another car I was selling. Lots of performance upgrades to make this car sound and drive like a Corvette should. The LS1 engine was stroked to a 383, SLP long tube headers that go into the Borla exhaust, Carroll Supercharger system, McCleod clutch, and MSD fuel pump booster. I was told the rear end and transmission were upgraded to Z51 standards as well with hardened axles. This car was put on a dyno and did 602hp at the rear wheels, again this was relayed and I can't verify. Car runs, shifts, and drives like it should with such low mileage. It has new tires and ceramic brakes. Loaded with options P/W, P/L, power mirrors, power seats, 6 speed, Bose, HUD, etc. I have included a picture of the tag with all the option codes for those that want to look them up. I have the books on the Supercharger system, MSD fuel pump booster, original GM books, and the information on the guy that built the motor.

Serious buyers contact John (352) 796-5264 with any questions. This is my shop # so I'm available from 9-5 M-F at this number. Interested buyers are encouraged to come and look at the car. We can put it on the lift, take it for a test drive and go over everything with you. Car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to cancel bids and end the auction early.

Non refundable deposit of $1,000 due within 24 hours of auction ending. Balance is due 7 days after close of auction and the only forms accepted are CASH or wire transfer unless prior agreement has been made. Car is sold As-Is with no warranty, again come inspect it before bidding. Car can be stored for a reasonable amount of time until the winning bidder can arrange shipping or can pick up. Shipping is up to the winning bidder to arrange, I can help load the car if needed, but I will not provide shipping quotes.

Peter Max staring down $1M lawsuit over Corvette collection sale

Wed, Dec 17 2014

Pop artist Peter Max recently sold off his collection of 36 vintage Chevrolet Corvettes – one each from 1953 to 1989 – for an undisclosed amount. The new owners have already announced plans to restore some of them and auction the models off sometime soon. Up until then, the sports cars had been languishing in various garages around New York City for decades and were caked in dust and grime. However, Max's end of the transaction has just become more complicated, because two men are suing the artist claiming he employed them to complete the deal first. The men allege that Max hired them to broker the sale of the 36 Corvettes in exchange for a 10-percent commission, according to the New York Post. They claim to have emails and text messages proving the existence of the deal, and are taking Max to court for $1 million over the squabble. The collection of Corvettes was amassed in 1989 as part of a prize package from the television network VH1, and Max bought the cars from the winner intending on using them for an art project. He never got around to it, though, and parked the sports cars around New York, until he finally sold them over the summer.

EcoCar3 will convert Camaro to bitchin' eco rides

Sat, Apr 26 2014

In the 47-year-history of the Chevrolet Camaro, there have been countless college-age kids spending a ton of time getting under the hood and souping 'em up. Now, General Motors is adding a twist to the concept by donating 16 Camaros for the EcoCar challenge that puts university teams together to wring out better fuel-efficiency out of various vehicles. No word on whether there will be donuts on anyone's lawn, as suggested by 80's punks the Dead Milkmen, but the idea's never a bad one. EcoCar3 will feature 16 teams such as Arizona State, Penn State, Ontario's University of Waterloo and, of course, Detroit's Wayne State University. They'll spend the next four years "[reducing] environmental impact, while maintaining the muscle and performance expected from this iconic American car," as the EcoCar organizers say. The goal is to maintain body design and safety standards while boosting efficiency and lowering emissions, but the actual process is far more complicated than that description suggests. The California Air Resources Board (CARB) and Bosch are among the sponsors of the contest, which is also put on by the US Department of Energy and managed by Argonne National Laboratory. Penn State won Year Two of the three-year EcoCar 2 competition with its E85 plug-in hybrid electric vehicle converted out of a Chevy Malibu. The grand-prize winner of EcoCar2 will be announced in June. Check out the EcoCar3 website and see the announcement video below for more details. This content is hosted by a third party. GM dealers unhappy about pickup prices

Mon, 21 Oct 2013

The backlash is beginning. Following General Motors' price hike of the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra last week, dealers across the country are expressing their ire over increasing prices in the face of rebates and discounts on trucks from Ford and Ram.
Speaking to Automotive News, Sam Pilato, the general manager at Dimmitt Chevrolet in Clearwater, FL, Silverados are "selling very poorly." W. Carrol Smith, the president of Monument Chevrolet in the heart of truck country, Texas, said, "[GM's] position is that the vehicle stands on its own and it doesn't need a bigger rebate. That's not what the market is telling us."
According to AN, that's the general attitude amongst Chevy and GMC dealers across the country, where the twin pickups are getting butchered in sales by competitors offering up to $9,000 off their sticker prices. Part of the problem for GM is that its trucks are arriving on the market near the end of the current F-150's lifecycle, a fact that Ford has taken advantage of.
