CONTACT JEFF AT 570-977-0741.  Up for sale and your consideration is a gorgeous 1978 Chevelle 2-door sedan that has been transformed into an extremely fast, beautiful street machine, with a late sixties, early seventies theme. This is originally a North Carolina southern car. The smooth as glass candy apple red paint looks a foot deep. A cowl hood with ghost SS stripes compliments the beautiful paint work. The black interior is perfect and is equipped with the factory tilt wheel. That is about the only luxury or comfort item you will find here. This car was built with two things in mind. Looking good and going FAST !!! If you want a car that drives like your BMW or Lexus then this isn't the car for you ! If you want a serious real car guy's car that will literally tear up the streets and blow the doors off the competition, then this is the car for you ! The engine is a 1977 Chevy 454 cubic inch big block that is fresh and has been built for street use. Cylinder heads are oval port open chamber style with 2.06 valves and 7/16 push rods and guide plates. The cam, lifters, and valve springs are all supplied by Lunati. The cam lift is .544 and duration is 292 degrees. The cylinder heads are attached with 20 thousandths steel head gaskets  which assist in bringing the compression to 9.9:1 according to the dyno. Block has been bored .10 over. A double roller timing set is installed. The fuel is supplied by electric fuel pumps feeding a 3310 Holley 750 CFM carburetor mounted to an Edelbrock Performer intake manifold. Spark is provided by a MSD HEI ignition with an ACCEL coil. Distributor springs were replaced with light units. A high torque gear reduction starter with a heat shield handles the starting chores. Cooling is handled by a new 4-core heavy duty aluminum radiator with an electric fan. Exhaust exits through Hooker headers and a complete new 3 inch "Pypes" exhaust system with an X-pipe crossover and Flowmaster mufflers. This car sounds fantastic ! The power transfer to the differential is handled by a Muncie M-21 four speed transmission that is rebuilt. Clutch and pressure plate are new. 4-Speed shifter is also brand new. The driveshaft is a custom made oversize unit with large U-joints. The rearend is a 12-bolt Positraction unit from a 1970 Chevelle with 3.73 gears. Rear air bags aid in suspension and allow for an adjustable rear ride height. There is also AC Delco shocks in the rear and heavy duty adjustable four link bars off either side of the top of the differential. BFG tires in the front are 215/70R15. The tires are cheater slicks in the rear. BF Goodrich Comp T/A Drag Radials 275/60R15. Early style rally wheels add to the late 60's early 70's theme. Careful calculation was employed to insure the wide rear tires fit inside the wheel wells. This car looks and sits right. This car runs and drives like an earlier vintage Chevelle. The difference is that it's faster due to it's lighter curb weight, and it costs half as much ! It was built with a racing theme and was even lightened with the addition of a fiberglass hood and deletion of the heater, wipers and wiper motor, and radio. A custom dash is outfitted with a full compliment of phantom gauges including a recall tachometer and fuel pressure gauge. Racing seat belts have also been added. The racing theme continues into the trunk with the addition of an aluminum heavy duty fuel cell and trunk mounted battery. Since this car is a fresh build of a car that originated and spent most of it's life in North Carolina it is a rust free car. Underside photos reveal frame and floors are restored and painted. This car has very few miles on it since it's completion. I don't know how it would do at the drag strip, but I will say it hooks up extremely well and will hold you back in the seat. This is a show quality car that would be a compliment to any collection and would be a hit at the car shows ! Since the build and restoration were performed by the previous owner, my summary of this car is based soley on a complete physical inspection and conversation with him. If any prospective buyer has any doubts about this car's condition or integrity, I welcome the opportunity to show this car in person by appointment only. I have in hand a clean Pennsylvania title ready for transfer to the new owner. This car is being sold in AS-IS condition with no actual or implied warranty or guarantee.  Please take the time to look at all the photos.  I have even put this car up on a lift to photo the undercarriage to show the solid integrity of the car. This car's buy it now price is less than what the build and restoration would cost.

Please check my 100% positive feedback and buy with confidence.  Feel free to ask any and all questions on the car after reading the entire description. I am looking for an outright sale here. I am not interested in any trades. There will be a Ebay required $300 non-refundable deposit to the winning bidder either using the buy it now option or to the winning bidder at the end of the auction. Accepted forms of payment for the car are as follows: Funds in hand and a local pickup is preferred and encouraged. A Bank wire transfer is also acceptable.  A Bank cashier's check is also acceptable, however the cashier's check can take several days to clear and the car and title will not be released until the check completely clears the bank and funds are made available in hand. Shipping will be the financial responsibility of the buyer.  I will be happy to recommend shippers that I have previously used.  I will also be happy to reasonably assist in the appointment setup, pickup, and loading of the car.  Again if you have any questions contact me.  My number is here in the ad at the top and bottom of the ad for any prospective buyer to contact me.  Also please check out my other auctions for a stunning 1979 Dodge Lil' Red Express Truck with 44000 original miles, and a 1968 Chevy C10 Hotrod with a 454 Big Block and TH400.  Lastly contact Jeff at 570 977 0741.  Thanks.

'84 MotorWeek Cherokee, Bronco and Blazer comparison indulges your SUV nostalgia

Fri, Jan 16 2015

These days, truck-based, full-frame SUVs are somewhat of a rarity on the auto landscape due to the rapid rise in popularity of easier-driving, car-based crossovers. Although, without the gradually building popularity of these chunky, high-riding vehicles decades ago, it's unlikely that America's roads would be filled with so many CUVs today. In its latest dig into the archives, MotorWeek has found a 1984 comparison test of a trio of these early Sport Utility Wagons, as long-time host John Davis called them, that helped get acceptance of this segment going. This is a red, white and blue test of the SUVs from American automakers at the time and pits the Chevrolet Blazer, Ford Bronco and Jeep Cherokee (specifically in Wagoneer guise) against each other. Driving manners and interior usability are considered in the evaluation, but Motorweek actually takes these vehicles off road, too. Among the bigger revelations is the improvement in on-road ability in the past 30 years. While specific 0-60 times aren't given, all three models take around 10 seconds just to get to around 50 miles per hour in the 500-feet on-ramp acceleration test. Check out this clip to see just how far this segment has progressed in the past three decades or just get a blast of nostalgia from these now vintage models. GM program sees dealers taking on way more loaner cars

Wed, Dec 17 2014

Given the volume of vehicles we're talking about, this is a significant development for GM's bottom line. Bring your car into the dealership for service, and you may need a loaner car in exchange. And with so many recalls being carried out, that means a lot of loaners – especially at General Motors dealerships. That could be one of the reasons why GM is massively expanding its loaner fleet program. While many Chevrolet and Buick-GMC dealerships have an on-site rental car location operated by a third party like Enterprise (which may or may not provide a GM vehicle), others manage their own loaner fleets. But while the range of dealerships operating such fleets was once small, reports Automotive News, the number has been growing rapidly: from the locations responsible for only 20 percent of those brands' sales two years ago to about 90 percent today. The impetus for that growth comes down to a massive expansion of GM's Courtesy Transportation Program. The initiative encourages dealers to ramp up their loaner fleet to a maximum size determined by GM, with a mix determined by the dealer itself, so that a showroom in Texas can be bolstered with a fleet of pickup trucks and a dealer in California can employ more Volt and Camaro Convertible loaners. The dealership gets a $500 credit for each vehicle its puts in its fleet, and can use those vehicles as loaners for service customers, as multi-day test drivers or to rent out separately. The vehicles remain in the dealer's fleet for 90 days or 7,500 miles, then they can be sold as used, but with new-car incentives. The dealer gets a fleet of loaners, customers get to use the loaners, try out a new car overnight or buy a barely used car with attractive incentives, and GM gets to clock more sales. But therein lies the kicker: the automaker counts the dispatch of the loaner new vehicle to the dealership as a new-car sale, which could end up distorting its sales figures. Counting loaner vehicles as sold vehicles is something of an industry-standard practice, but given the volume of vehicles we're talking about, this is a significant development for GM's bottom line. One dealership - Paddock Chevrolet in Kenmore, NY, for example - had no loaner fleet two years ago, but now runs a fleet of 50 vehicles. Multiply that by the 4,000 or so dealers GM has across America and you're talking about the potential for hundreds of thousands of these sorts of sales.
