The paint shines but does have imperfections such as minor scratches dings and chips with very little rust. work has been done in the corners of the rear glass, the hood has been replaced with a reproduction and has not been painted, and there is a small spot on the passenger door that will need to be worked. the vehicle will need minor bodywork and to be painted if you want to make this a great classic car. The frame and floors are solid, the trunk is also solid and in very good condition, the vehicle RUNS and sounds GREAT. Since being rebuilt it has been driven less than 1000 miles, may need a few minor adjustments as it breaks in. Overall this is a very solid 1971 chevelle."

I bought this vehicle feb of 2008. The car has always been titled in North Carolina  It was originally sold as Chevelle Malibu sports coupe and purchased in Ayden, North Carolina (original sales receipt and production plate comes with vehicle). The vehicle had been painted before i got it and as far as i know, that is the only time its had any bodywork or paint. INTERIOR.... was a column shift with a bench seat (blue), I completely gutted the inside and replaced it with new wiring harness under the hood and dash, black SS dash with gauges and floor shifter, bucket seats with new springs, cushions and covers (front and rear), new seat belts, new headliner, door panels and arm rest, rear panels, new carpet ect.....replaced everything in the inside (most replacement parts purchased from classic muscle, modern chevrolet in Winston-Salem NC......quality restoration parts) receipts available with vehicle. I put all new Drum brakes, wheel cylinders, lines and hardware on rear and new correct disc brakes, booster, master cylinder and lines on front, replacing original front drum brakes (receipts to document), the vehicle stops great. New bumpers and grill, new ball joints and tie rods, hyperflex bushing kit on total car.  Coilovers on front original style springs and shocks on rear. Motor.....4bolt main 383 stroker with MSD pro billet distributor and wires,  hi performance coil blaster 2, 6AL ignition multiple spark discharge, braided hoses and accessories, C&R racing radiator, electric fan (custom made shroud) keeps it cool, Aluminum heads, holly carb,Hedman hedders with locking bolts, march chrome pully setup ,chrome water pump, chrome alternator, high flow electric fuel pump, mallory return fuel pressure regulator, moroso 7quart racing oil pan. Raptor jr. 700R4 transmission with trans cooler,  Auburn 12 bolt posi 3.73 rear with custom trick flow diff cover. The car is Being powered by two Optima redtop batteries in the trunk, I put new dual exhaust using original style Chevelle SS pipes with flow masters and Chevelle tips. I also put New 15x8 chevy rally wheels with 235/60/15 cooper cobra radial GT raised white letter tires (still like new less than 500 mi). I was going to do body work and paint ,however other things came first so i did not get to finish the car, but i do have all of the missing SS decals, all new weather stripping for the doors and the trunk, also have new window felt inner and outer window strips, the chrome pieces that came with the new grill and new quality JVC radio with new Hertz 6x9 speakers. In my opinion, the only thing this car needs is bodywork and paint with the color of your choice, there are a few small areas on the car that have a little surface rust as you can see in the photos, but i assure you it is nothing major. This Chevelle is equipped with lots of upgrades and has been cared for, too many new parts to list, only selling to start a new career. The car has been garage kept the majority of the time I have owned it, but i have driven it around 1000 miles since i had it built. Make sure you look at the pictures good as you will be able to see most of the imperfections. This Vehicle is being sold AS IS and does not have a warranty, more photos available via email.  Thanks for looking and feel free to message me with any questions ......good luck and happy bidding. I reserve the right to end this auction at any time as the vehicle is also up for sale locally.

New Takata problem results in recall of 414 GM vehicles

Mon, Oct 19 2015

An airbag-inflator rupture discovered by Takata during testing has resulted in a new recall affecting 414 vehicles from General Motors, including 395 of them in the US. This latest campaign covers 2015 model-year examples of the Buick LaCrosse, Cadillac XTS, Chevrolet Camaro, Equinox, Malibu, and GMC Terrain. There are no reported breaks in any of these vehicles on the road, and the company estimates only one percent of them actually have the faulty parts. According to documents submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (as a PDF), one side-airbag inflator failed a cold test at -40 Fahrenheit "releasing high pressure gas and propelling the separated components apart." The supplier told GM about the failure the next day. In these vehicles, the safety device might not only burst but the bag could inflate incorrectly, as well. GM and Takata say that a cause is not yet known, but they are "conducting an investigation." GM will begin notifying affected owners via overnight mail on Oct. 19. Dealers will replace the side airbag modules on all of the affected vehicles with new components outside of the suspect lot. All of the removed parts will also be collected for further study. Takata's faulty front airbag inflators have resulted in a serious scandal for the supplier. Initial figures indicated 34 million US vehicles are need of repair, though more recent figures have knocked that down to 23.4 million bad parts in 19.2 million automobiles. GM was already among the dozen automakers with models to fix, and some of its pickups were affected, along with the Saab 9-2X and Pontiac Vibe. GM Statement: General Motors is recalling 395 cars and crossovers in the U.S. because one of the front seat side air bags inflators may be defective. In the event of a deployment, the air bag's inflator may rupture and the air bag may not properly inflate. The rupture could cause metal fragments to strike the vehicle occupants, potentially resulting in serious injury or death. GM is unaware of any incidents involving vehicles with these components, which were part of a lot in which one inflator failed acceptance testing at the supplier. Dealers will replace the side air bag module or modules in affected vehicles. Including Canada, Mexico and exports, the total population of the recall is 414, GM estimates 1 percent of the recalled vehicles may have the defect.

What car should James Robertson buy to drive his famous 21-mile commute?

Thu, Feb 5 2015

The Internet has been abuzz this week with the story of Detroit resident James Robertson, the 56-year-old factory worker who has walked some 21 miles to work for the last 10 years. The Detroit Free Press brought Robertson's story to the fore, helping an online fundraising campaign to generate more than $275,000 (as of this writing). The original goal was just $5,000, or about enough to replace the used Honda that died on Robertson back in 2005, and left him walking. So, newly flush with funds, what's the perfect car for Robertson to buy? Let's look at the specifics of his situation, and try to pick out the best options. Here's what we know: Robertson's commute is (famously) 21 miles; he lives in downtown Detroit (for now) and seems pretty humble, so something very flashy is probably out; former Honda aside, his ties to the city (and statements about being a Ford fan) seem to indicate a Detroit Three company product is best; he's a single guy with a girlfriend; he's got to deal with Michigan weather, and the sometimes fickle snow removal processes in The D. Here are some choices: Ford F-150 Robertson is on record as being a Taurus fan, and after a decade of walking I've no doubt that the big sedan would offer a cozy respite. Still, as a car guy and a student of the industry, I'd have a hard time recommending a sedan so clearly in need of replacement. Especially when The Blue Oval has such great stuff within the rest of its roster. The 2015 F-150 seems almost perfect for Robertson. Opting for either of the new EcoBoost V6 engines should help keep fuel bills in reasonable check, while healthy ride height and four-wheel drive will get him to work on time even during the snowiest of snow days. Better still, with a fat options sheet and car-like ride quality, Robertson can have just about every amenity he might want, in a package that won't disrespect his blue-collar roots. Chevrolet Colorado You guys saw this one coming, right? The smaller footprint of the midsize Chevy pickup, relative to some of the other options here, should be an advantage for urban parking and driving. And again, 4x4 is an option for the nasty weather, the running costs should stay pretty low and there aren't many tech/luxury features that can't be had in-cabin. I'd go ahead and splash out on the Crew Cab bodystyle, too, just in case Robertson feels like starting a carpool.

Europeans ask Chevy to bring Volt back to Europe

Fri, Aug 14 2015

A group of French fans is asking for a jolt of support from General Motors to get the 2016 Chevrolet Volt across the pond. The Association Amperistes et Amis des Vehicules Rechargeables is running a Change.org petition that currently has 383 signatures out of a goal of 500. While the attempt is admirable, it's probably going to take a lot more than several hundred people for the model to make a return to the continent after the poor showing of the Opel Ampera – first-gen Volt's European cousin. The group's major argument for bringing a version of the second-gen Volt to Europe is that consumers need "an intermediate choice between expensive or range-limited pure electric cars and plug-in hybrids with a miserable electric range." Furthermore, such a vehicle would prod the competition to produce similarly efficient electrified models. They also lavish praise on the abilities of the Ampera for its long EV driving range. The supporters aren't entirely kind to GM in the petition, though, and claim the company excluded the original car from marketing efforts there. The Ampera actually enjoyed a strong European launch with more orders than initially expected and briefly topped the best-sellers list among EVs there. It was even named 2012 European Car of the Year. Those halcyon days didn't last long, and by 2014 sales fell off to a trickle. The waning reception caused GM's decision not to introduce a version of the new 2016 Volt there or in Australia. Related Video:
