Up for auction is a high quality and documented low mile all original and unmolested 1971 Chevelle Malibu 2 door Sport Coupe with 41,475 miles. This is truly a Survivor Chevelle, “they are only original once” and the original documentation makes this a collector’s dream. It was delivered new by Gratz Chevy-Buick in Millville, New Jersey on April 7, 1971. I am the third owner of the car, having purchased it in 2002 from a Chevelle collector in New Jersey who knew the original owner, and who wanted sorely to keep this one within his stable of collector cars, but heeded to his better half’s counsel. The car has the original Classic Copper Metallic on a super straight and solid body, clean chrome, and comes equipped with a 307 CID V8, Turbo 350 automatic transmission, 2.73 Rear ratio. Aside from one small hole in the front bench, the original black cloth seats other interior components are like new. Other factory options include - Power Steering, Soft-Ray Tinted Glass, and Vinyl Roof Cover. The original F78-14 w/w tires and wheel trim covers have been replaced with BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires mounted on rally wheels. The following mechanical work has been performed – replaced the radiator and water pump, engine mounts, belts and hoses, and the carburetor has also been rebuilt. The original AM push-button radio was replaced with an AM/FM push-button radio, which currently is not working. I will include the original AM radio with the car, as that one did work. This Chevelle is documented with: the original Protect-O-Plate, Warranty Booklet, Owner’s Manual, and one of the original build-sheets. It is an outstanding car that will get a lot of attention with its beautiful condition and the fact that it is all original and nobody has attempted to change it. The car drives and handles like it was 1971. If you are looking for a very rare and unique Chevelle that is original and a striking color, with documentation then this is your car. Will Chevy Bolt get Opel badge in Europe?
Sat, Mar 7 2015General Motors' European plug-in vehicle name may go from A to B. That's because the Chevrolet Bolt could be sold under GM's Opel brand across the Pond, Automotive News Europe says, citing people familiar with the process that it declined to identify. The Ampera, the European version of the Volt extended-range plug-in vehicle, is being phased out due to poor sales. While the Ampera won the European Car of the Year in 2012, its sales have trended well below expectations. That the Bolt would be sold as an Opel hints to us that GM expects to distribute the electric vehicle in far smaller numbers than in the US. The Bolt, which was introduced in January in its concept version at the North American Auto Show in Detroit, will have a single-charge range of about 200 miles. GM representatives didn't immediately respond to a request for comment from AutoblogGeen on Friday afternoon. The car will also have a price tag in the US of about $30,000, factoring in federal-government tax incentives. That's if those tax incentives are still around in 2017, when the Bolt is expected to debut stateside. Expect greater differentiation in GM's next-generation SUVs
Thu, 03 Jan 2013General Motors says its next-generation Chevrolet Tahoe, Suburban, GMC Yukon and Cadillac Escalade models will offer shoppers improved interior differentiation. Car and Driver recently caught up with Chris Hilts, GM's creative manager of interior design, who said that the cabins will all feature unique instrument panels, consoles, center stacks and switchgear moving forward. Apparently GM is now aware that consumers may be bothered by the fact that today's $85,000 Escalade has effectively the same cabin as a $45,000 Tahoe. Hilts says SUV buyers want more refinement than their pickup purchasing counterparts - and those same buyers also want their SUVs to have more exterior differentiation between the company's Silverado and Sierra pickup lines. Shocking.
That all sounds good to us, but we've heard this song and dance before. GM made big waves about how different the new-for-2013 Silverado and Sierra would look from each other, but judging by what we've seen so far, GM's stylists are painting in shades rather than with the full spectrum. The Tesla Model S was the best-selling EV of 2015
Thu, Jan 14 2016According to numbers crunched over at Hybrid Cars, the Tesla Model S was the best selling pure electric vehicle last year with 50,366 deliveries. These numbers might not tell the whole story, since Tesla reports deliveries made in 2015 that might have been sold in a different calendar year, while other makers are tallying sales. However, it's inarguable that the Model S ended up in more worldwide driveways than the second-place Nissan Leaf, which did about 43,000 sales. In the US alone, Leaf sales were down 42.8 percent year-on-year, from 30,200 in 2014 to 17,269 last year, and that decline also increased throughout the year. That marks a great finish to a great start to 2015, when Tesla took the lead in EV sales in the US for the first quarter. On top of that, as of last year the Model S becomes the second-best selling EV ever, with 107,148 deliveries since the middle of 2012. It trails the Nissan Leaf, with well over 200,000 worldwide sales. The Chevrolet Volt/Opel Ampera combo takes a close third, with about 106,000 sales. The Nissan and Chevy rivals both launched at the end of 2010, a 16-month head start on the Tesla. Down the charts, the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV which continues to be forbidden fruit for our market notched 39,000 sales. The BYD Qin PHEV sold 31,898 examples in China, and BYD would take the overall victory from Tesla with 58,728 deliveries if you counted all of its EV and PHEV production, such as its electric buses. The BMW i3 nabbed fourth place with 24,057 global sales. In 2011 the Munich automaker said it wanted to sell 30,000 i3s annually by 2014, but by the time the car launched the company considered 15,000 annual sales 'great for now,' so the 2015 number seems a fine place to wind up.
