1970 Chevelle SS
Engine -It is a 454 bored 60 over with raised compression. It has 781 oval port heads.  The best flowing oval ports available.  The camshaft is a roller.  It also has crane roller rockers. Hooker headers and Holley carb. I was told by the previous owner that it was built by Shively Performance in Louisville KY. I must say that it runs very good and sounds wonderful through the flowmasters.  It idles very well with a large lope. The engine is balanced.  SFI flywheel.  1 wire alternator and an aluminum radiator to keep it cool.  Electric fan also.
Trans is a Turbo 400 with a brand new 3000 stall.  Shifted by a stock stirrup shifter and cable.  Not yet mounted to the floor.
Rear End- 1970 12 bolt posi track with around 373 or 410 gears.  Code is CCW   331 open 1970 Chevelle SS.  factory sway bar with owner reinforced lower control arms as well as no hop bars.  Newer springs also.

Car does have disc brakes and the large sway bar up front.  The gauges are all GM and show some age. the housing is brand new- the old one was butchered up. New carpet just sitting in the car. New headliner kit in box.  The bucket seats and console will need to be redone and installed as well as it needs new door panels.  I have converted the steering column to floor shift as well and have kept the big block rag joint. I also have a power steering set up for the car but I don't have the correct brackets. This is where I got when the storm hit and it has been sitting since. I have other misc items for the car.

The following items are new-emblems-chrome wheels molding-both bumpers-rear bumper pad-cowl parts to make door go up and down-

This car was in the process of being redone when a tornado hit my house.  Debris broke out the window in the barn and the glass chipped the paint in several spots along the drivers side. I do have some paint left over to make repairs or you may wish to scuff it and respray the entire car. The color is Viper blue Pearl coat. PPG DBC. You can get more right here on Ebay for about 150 a Gallon
I will stop the auction at anytime for $ 12,500
I will be adding a video of the car running shortly
I reserve the right to stop the auction at anytime.  A car has come available that I would like to purchase. If for any reason this car becomes available I will stop this auction thanks steve

All the glass is in the car.  Except the windshield.  I have a brand new one included  just not installed.   The question I am getting is what is needed to finish the car.  1) paint  sand it down and redo in your favorite color or use what is left to fix it.  2)  seat covers  3) weatherstrips  4) I have 1 front turn signal lamp 5) install the headliner and buy door panels   Its a lot closer than you think.

thanks for questions   feel free to call

Also I have installed a new heater core and motor.  The blower motor switch in the dash does not work on high.  I was going to install heater hoses.

Is it a real Super Sport?

Thanks for the phone calls, I really don't mind talking about old cars.  In 1970 Chevelles the SS package was an option and not a model.  Since options are not coded into the vin, the vin does not tell you if it was a SS or not just the same as it will not tell you what radio the car came with.  SS cars came with 1 of 4 big block engines  396 (402) or 454.  You got round gauges, 12 bolt rear end disc brakes,  domed hood, emblems, SS wheels, blacked out grill, and f41 suspension.  Without the original drivetrain or documentation there is no way to prove it was a SS from the factory.  If I am wrong about this please feel free to add your 2 cents and I will post for all to see.  If I had the build sheet or the original engine I would simply be asking a lot more than $12500.  Hope this helps.  This car does have a 70 Chevelle SS rear end, round gauges and disc brakes,  I added the front SS sway bar, it had no bar when I bought the car.

NHTSA investigates 1.7 million GM SUVs for windshield wiper failures

Tue, Nov 6 2018

WASHINGTON - The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said on Tuesday it is investigating whether General Motors should recall an additional 1.7 million sport utility vehicles due to an issue with windshield wiper failures. GM in August 2016 recalled 367,800 2013 GMC Terrain and Chevrolet Equinox SUVs in the United States to address the problem. But after receiving 249 complaints about similar problems, the federal agency said it is probing whether the recall should be expanded to include an additional 1.7 million vehicles from the 2010-2016 model years. The automaker said it is cooperating with the NHTSA review. GM said it recalled the 2013 GMC Terrain and Chevrolet Equinox SUVs "because warranty data showed a higher-than-expected failure rate," adding it has continued to monitor field data on other model years of those vehicles. GM noted that no crashes or injuries related to the issue have been reported. The Detroit-based automaker said the recalls were prompted after a GM Canada brand quality manager reported a potential safety issue relating to reports of windshield wiper failures in Canada through GM's "Speak Up For Safety," program in late 2015. The data showed significantly higher field incidents in parts of Canada, which prompted a June 2016 recall there. Over the next two months, a higher number of U.S. reports prompted a U.S. recall, the company added. In the 2016 recall, GM said the front-wiper module would be replaced with a module that has a water deflector and, if needed, dealers would fill the water management hole and drill a new small hole in a different location.(Reporting by David Shepardson, editing by G Crosse)Related Video: Government/Legal Recalls Chevrolet GM GMC SUV

Junkyard Gem: 1986 Chevrolet Sprint Plus

Fri, Jun 16 2023

General Motors sold second- and third-generation Suzuki Cultuses with Geo or Chevrolet Metro badging in the United States from 1989 through 2001 model years, and we've all seen plenty of those cars on the street over the years. The first-generation Cultus was sold here as well, with Chevrolet Sprint badges, and I've found a rare example of the Sprint five-door hatchback in a Northern California car graveyard. The Chevy Sprint first appeared on the West Coast as a 1985 model, then became available everywhere in the United States for the 1986 through 1988 model years (in Canada, it was sold as the Pontiac Firefly). It was available here as a hatchback with three or five doors; for 1986 only, the five-door was badged as the Sprint Plus. Soon enough, The General would be selling many more Asian-built cars with Detroit badges here. Isuzu I-Marks were sold as Chevrolet/Geo Spectrums starting in the 1986 model year, while Daewoo provided the Pontiac LeMans two years later. Under the hood, a 1.0-liter three-cylinder rated at 48 horsepower. The five-door Sprint cost $5,580 in 1986, which was $200 more than the three-door (those prices would be $15,445 and $14,891 in 2023 dollars). I've documented seven discarded Sprints prior to this one (including an extremely rare Turbo Sprint), and all of them were three-doors; we can assume that price was the most important factor for Sprint buyers. Gasoline prices were crashing hard during the middle 1980s, but memories of gas lines and odd-even-day fuel rationing from 1979 remained strong. What cars competed with the '86 Sprint on sticker price? Well, there was no way to undercut the hilariously affordable (and terrible) Yugo GV, which cost $3,990. The much bigger (but still pretty bad) Hyundai Excel listed at $4,995, while Toyota would sell you a sturdy (but zero-fun) Tercel starting at $5,448. Even the wretched Chevy Chevette — yes, it was still available in 1986 — cost $5,645. The original buyer of this car was willing to shell out an extra $395 to get an automatic instead of the base five-speed manual. That's about $1,093 in today's money. This car must have been slow. By the end, the doors were held shut with duct tape, but it still stayed alive until age 37. 53 miles per gallon on the highway! It does everything. The camels of the highway.

Next Chevy Silverado could get this built-in tailgate step

Thu, Feb 2 2017

General Motors just received patent approval for a tailgate step in a pickup bed. And given the timing, don't be surprised if you see this on the upcoming 2019 Silverado pickup (not the mention its GMC Sierra twin), expected to arrive in late 2018. According to the patent, granted in December of last year, the whole mechanism is housed in the tailgate assemble. The magic happens when a portion of the top half of the tailgate swings down and a step folds out. There's also a handle that locks into position to help climb up into the bed. As trucks get bigger and taller over the years, it gets harder and harder to access the cargo bed. Ford's solution with the 2009 F-150 was a step that slides out from the end of the tailgate. Back then, Chevy made an ill-advised ad highlighting the feature for Ford. And while Howie Long mocked the F-150's "man step" Ford saw almost a third of its trucks with the option in the first year. The GM design seems to improve on Ford's idea as it appears to be wider and has a back to the lower step. That is, you don't have to worry about stepping through the ladder-rung design as on the F-150. Ford's tailgate step later spread to the F Super Duty, and other cargo access assists have proliferated through the truck world. On the most recent redesign, the Chevrolet Silverado took a trick from the Avalanche and added cutouts to the corners of the rear bumper that act as a foothold. Ford also offers a deployable side step, Chevrolet has running boards that scoot rearward with a kick of the boot, and Ram offers fixed wheel-to-wheel side rails. Nissan is in on the game too, with an optional folding step that tucks under the rear bumper. We don't expect Chevrolet to comment on when or if we'll see this feature in the showrooms. But given that engineers are already hard at work on the next Silverado and the timing of this patent lines right up with the new truck's development cycle, we'll be disappointed if this patent stays in the file cabinet.
