Factory Cranberry Red with Black Interior

Cold Aftermarket Vintage Air

Build Sheet and Window Sticker

Offered for sale is a frame off restored 1970 Chevelle Super Sport.  As you can see from the photos, it's clean, shiny, and rust-free.  It shows very well, and would make a great addition to anyone's collection.  While no car is perfect, this one is still pretty nice.  A lot of time, money, and effort has gone into making the car you see here.  I welcome anyone to come and see it in person if possible. Feel free to send a representative if you're not able to make it yourself.

According to the trim tag, the car came from the factory in Cranberry Red Paint, Code 75.  It also came with black interior, Code 756.  The window sticker and build sheet show it as a factory 396 cubic inch engine, and a Muncie  4 speed transmission.  While the original engine is not in the car, it is a 1969 396.  It has been rebuilt, just like everything else.  I have photos that show the car disassembled and reassembled.  I have a lot of photos that I was not able to put in the ad, so please send me your email address and I'll forward it to anyone who wants  to view them.

The car drives very well.  It starts easily, idles well after a few seconds, and doesn't smoke or knock.  It shifts well, and the steering and brakes are excellent.  The rear end is quiet, the ac is cold, and the car is overall in great condition.  TRADES POSSIBLE, BUT DON'T GET YOUR FEELINGS HURT IF I DON'T WANT WHAT YOU'RE OFFERING OR DON'T PUT THE SAME VALUE ON YOUR TRADE THAT YOU DO !!!

Underneath, the car is clean, rust-free, and the floors and trunk were replaced during the restoration.  Once again, I have photos of that too if anyone wants to see them.  With the exception of minor flaws in the restoration work, and much less than normal wear and tear, it's pretty awesome.  The car was not built be myself.  I bought it pretty much as you see it. The previous owner told me he spent a small fortune on the restoration, and had owned it for over 20 years.  I can't prove anything he said because I didn't get any receipts or documents.  I received a title, a photo album, and the build sheet and window sticker that he had in the car.

Feel free to email me with any questions.  The reserve price is just that...a reserve price.  It is less than half the price the former owner told me he spent on the restoration.  Bid to win, not to ask questions.  Please, no time-wasters !!!  If you know these cars, you know they aren't cheap.  This one is no exception.  Serious buyers are encouraged to ask questions, make offers, and view the extra photos I have.    Feel free to TEXT ME.  Speaking is usually difficult, so texts and emails are encouraged. 941-740-2277, pretty much whatever time is good for you.  I will respond in the order that emails and texts come.  You can email me at northshorebill@aol.  c o m.  You'll have to remove the spaces from "c o m".   I reserve the right to end the auction early in the event a serious buyer steps up and makes me an offer I can't pass up.  If you want it, don't wait.  If you want to wait and see if you can save a little money, I completely understand.

The car is located in Port Charlotte, Florida, approximately 90 miles south of Tampa.  I will assist with shipping, but the expense is on the buyer.

Autoblog's guilty pleasure cars

Tue, Mar 10 2015

Guilty pleasures are part of life – don't even try to pretend like you don't have one (or two, or six). In the non-automotive space, this could come down to that secret playlist in your iPhone of songs you'll only listen to when you're alone; or think of that one TV show you really do love, but won't admit to your friends. I've got plenty, and so do you. Going back to cars, here's a particularly juicy one for me: several years ago, I had a mad crush on the very last iteration of the Cadillac DTS. Oh yes, the front-wheel-drive, Northstar V8-powered sofa-on-wheels that was the last remaining shred of the elderly-swooning days of Cadillac's past. Every time I had the chance to drive one, I was secretly giddy. Don't hate me, okay? These days, the DTS is gone, but I've still got a mess of other cars that hold a special place in my heart. And in the spirit of camaraderie, I've asked my other Autoblog editors to tell me some of their guilty pleasure cars, as well – Seyth Miersma, as you can see above, has a few choice emotions to share about the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution. Read on to find out what cars make us secretly happy. Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG This decadent convertible is the epitome of the guilty pleasure. It's big, powerful, fairly heavy and it's richly appointed inside and out. It's a chocolate eclair with the three-pointed star on the hood. Given my druthers, I'd take the SL65 AMG, which delivers 621 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque. That output is borderline absurd for this laid-back convertible. I don't care. You don't need dessert. Sometimes you just crave it. The SL line is about the feel you get on the road. The roof is open. The air, sun and engine sounds all embrace you. It's the same dynamic you could have experienced in a Mercedes a century ago, yet the SL gives you the most modern of luxuries. An Airscarf feature that warms my neck and shoulders through a vent embedded in the seat? Yes, please. Sure, it's an old-guy car. Mr. Burns and Lord Grantham are probably too young and hip for an SL65. I don't care. This is my guilty pleasure. Release the hounds. – Greg Migliore Senior Editor Ford Flex I drove my first Flex in 2009 when my mother let me borrow hers for the summer while I was away at college. The incredibly spacious interior made moving twice that summer a breeze, and the 200-mile trips up north were quite comfortable.

Foreign automakers pay from $38 to $65 per hour to non-union workers

Sun, Mar 29 2015

As leaders for the United Auto Workers gather in Detroit for their Special Convention on Collective Bargaining to work out the negotiating stance for this year's new labor agreements with the Detroit 3 automakers, what they most want to do is figure out how to eliminate the two-tier wage scale. However, the lower Tier 2 wage has allowed the domestic automakers to reduce their labor costs, hire more workers, and compete better with their import competition. As it stands, per-hour labor rates including benefits are $58 at General Motors, $57 at Ford, and $48 at Fiat-Chrysler – a reflection of FCA's much greater number of Tier 2 workers. The Center for Automotive Research released a study of labor rates (including benefits) that put numbers to what the imports pay: Mercedes-Benz pays the most, at an average of $65 per hour, Volkswagen pays the least, at $38 per hour, and BMW is just a hair above that at $39 per hour. Among the Detroit competitors, Honda workers earn an average of $49 per hour, at Toyota it's $48 per hour, Nissan is $42 per hour, and Hyundai-Kia pays $41 per hour. The lower import wages are aided by their greater use of temporary workers compared to the domestics. Automotive News says the ten-dollar gap between those foreign camakers and the domestics turns out to about an extra $250 per car in labor, which adds up quickly when you're pumping out many millions of cars. That $250-per-car number is one that, come negotiating time, the Detroit 3 will want to reduce, as the UAW is trying to raise both Tier 1 and Tier 2 wages. Another wrinkle is that the domestic carmakers are considering the wide adoption of a third wage level lower than Tier 2. Some workers who do minor tasks like assembling parts trays kits and battery packs already make less than Tier 2, but the UAW will be quite wary about cementing yet another wage scale at the bottom of the system while it's trying to fight a bigger battle at the top. Chevy Spark EV will go on sale in Maryland

Thu, Jan 22 2015

The single-charge range of a Chevrolet Spark electric vehicle may not blow away anyone who's used to driving on a topped off tank of gas. But a full charge will actually get a Spark EV about halfway across the state of Maryland. Which is good because that state will be the first on the East Coast to sell the battery-electric model. General Motors said this week that Chevy Spark EV sales will start in Maryland this spring, and that federal and Maryland tax credits will get the out-of-pocket price of the Spark EV below the $18,000 threshold. GM took the opportunity to tout the Spark EV's 119 miles per gallon equivalent rating and says Maryland has sufficient charging infrastructure for drivers to welcome the EV without too much trouble. Last June, Spark EV distribution was reported to be ready to extend beyond the Pacific Coast. Specifically, Ohio was thought to be next in line to get Spark electric vehicles after four state car dealerships listed the model on their websites. GM's Randy Fox, however, quashed that real quick, saying only California and Oregon had sufficient infrastructure to support the Spark EV. GM first announced the Spark EV for public (or at least American) consumption back in 2011. Last year, the General sold 1,145 Spark EVs, up 87 percent from 2013. For more on the Maryland expansion, take a look at GM's press release below. Chevrolet Spark EV Plugs into Maryland Customer demand drives addition of East Coast; features locally sourced drive unit 2015-01-22 WASHINGTON, D.C. – Chevrolet will start selling the Spark EV in Maryland this spring, expanding the pure electric mini-car's "range" to the East Coast. The Spark EV is the most efficient U.S. retail electric vehicle on the market, delivering an EPA-estimated combined city/highway 119 MPGe fuel economy equivalent and 82 miles of EPA-estimated combined city/highway range. It is priced as low as $17,845, after federal and Maryland tax credits – and it features a locally sourced electric motor and drive unit, manufactured at General Motors' Baltimore Operations facility in White Marsh, Md. "The Spark EV has been one of the most well-received electric vehicles in the industry and customer demand helped make the decision to expand its availability to Maryland," said Steve Majoros, Chevrolet director of car marketing.
