For Sale- 1970 Chevelle Super Sport - 454 engine - 400 Turbo Tranny, floor shift. The 454 is a CE replacement block with 1970 LS5 heads, transmission is matching to the Vin # on car. No documentation for car but it has 12 bolt rear end, front disc brakes, SS gauge package, heavy duty   front sway bar. This Chevelle has 400 turbo that the number matches Vin # and kick down switch above gas pedal which were big block Chevelle characteristics. Car is originally gold exterior in color. The rear stripes I questioned the length on chevelle forum & there was link to a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS commercial for a 1970 Chevelle SS 396 with stripes done the same way. That answered my question.
Since I purchased car 2 years ago, I have installed new Holley carburetor, all new shocks, new rear coils, new sending unit in gas tank and did some interior work.
The interior work that was done was removing dash and refinishing facing. Car came as column shift and I changed that to console shift with console and new recovered bucket seats. The gauge package had a bad fuel gauge and clock, I replaced it with a new unit but still have the one I removed. The driver's bucket seat is power seat, something that I wanted to add to car.
Car presents itself well in appearance, nice interior, runs good, solid car, straight lines and had a body on restoration appx. 5 years ago. Pictures that I am providing were taken this last Septmber, 2013, before car was put back in storage.

On Dec-09-13 at 06:41:34 PST, seller added the following information:

Would like to add, there are two small flaws in black hood stripe that taking a picture of wouldn't show. There is on right rear deck lid by the chevelle emblem, on lower right hand quarter, a mark about the size of 1/8 inch by a 1/4 inch. Car is sharp car. I took pics of car from sides to show how well the body lines are and how are seams almost perfect.

AMC Trans Am Javelin SST, an ultra-rare underdog, is up for auction

Sat, Sep 9 2023

Among the rarest of the American muscle cars that went racing in the early Seventies — cars including the Camaro Z/28 and the Boss 302 Mustang — the 1970 AMC Trans Am Javelin SST may be the most hard to find, and among the most valuable. Only 100 units of this unique Javelin were produced, and one of them is up for auction at the Mecum event in Dallas on September 20. The Trans Am Javelin was fashioned in a patriotic livery of tricolor paint — red, white and blue — and arrived after the American Motors Corporation had decided in 1968 to compete in the Trans Am racing series against Ford and General Motors. The company's chief driver, Mark Donohue, would dominate the 1971 season, taking seven wins in his Javelin AMX and that yearÂ’s SCCA Trans-Am Championship. AMC took the trophy with 82 points, well ahead of Ford's 61, Chevrolet's 17 and Pontiac's paltry 7. The example listed for auction came equipped with a 390-cubic-inch V-8 engine with 325 horsepower at 5,000 rpm and 420 pound-feet of torque, power steering and brakes, dual exhaust, BorgWarner four-speed manual transmission and Hurst competition shifter. Its “ram induction system” sealed a chamber around the air filter so that cool air from the functional hood scoop would be funneled into the intake. This JavÂ’s factory price was $3,995 — a mere $32,000 or so in today's money, though it was expensive by the standards of the time. The 100 Trans Ams were among 19,714 Javelin units built in 1970, so they started out rare, and today the surviving examples are highly collectible, if and when they come up for sale. No bid estimate is available yet. Related Video: Motorsports Chevrolet Ford Pontiac Auctions Automotive History Racing Vehicles Classics

Chevrolet SS previewed by Holden VF Commodore SS V show car

Thu, 14 Feb 2013

It won't be long before we see the official, production-ready Chevrolet SS sedan (hint: it will be revealed this weekend). And to tide us over until all of the official details are released about the US-spec version, we have this: the Holden VF Commodore SS V show car, a performance-oriented brother to the Calais V that debuted earlier in the week.
What we really want to know about the SS V is what lies underhood, but General Motors' Australian arm is keeping that under wraps until the Chevy model breaks cover this weekend. Nevertheless, it's obvious that the SS V will be a serious performer, with all sorts of aggressive cues driving that home on the car's exterior. Take a look at those 20-inch billet aluminum wheels that hide big Brembo brake calipers up front, the sculpted hood and front fascia, the wide air intakes with LED running lights and the quad exhaust pipes out back. It's like the Pontiac G8 GXP never even left us.
Inside, there's a sporty-looking interior with aluminum accents that mix in with black leather and suede surfaces, all tied together in the middle with an eight-inch MyLink touchscreen infotainment system. It looks great, and again, while we don't know anything regarding powertrain details, it makes us oh-so happy to see a manual shifter smack dab in the middle of the center console.

Lutz dishes dirt on GM in latest Autoline Detroit

Bob Lutz sits down for Autoline Detroit - Click above to watch video after the jump
Autoline Detroit recently played host to Bob Lutz, and, as is always the case, the former General Motors vice chairman dished out some great commentary. Lutz was promoting his new book Car Guys vs. Bean Counters: The Battle for the Soul of American Business, and talk quickly turned to his role as it related to product development and high-level decision making at GM. While on the topic of brand management, Lutz revealed a few rather interesting tidbits about his former employer:
All Chevrolet vehicles were required to have five-spoke aluminum wheels and a chrome band up front, as part of the Bowtie brand's overall image.
