For sale is my 1969 Chevelle SS, I have this car for over 20 years. It came originally out of Florida in 1985.

This car has not been painted or had anybody work done since before 1985 and is just now starting to show some bubbling on 1 lower fender and 1 lower quarter. This also was a vinyl top car so it has had some rust repair done below the rear window that needs some attention. Car also has its share of scratches and nicks on it from the past 25 years. Underneath the car is rock solid, it has been completely sand blasted and painted with POR 15. Frame also is perfect.  At one time I had a roll cage in it so there has been some floor repair but it was not from rust.

Almost all of the chrome has been re-chromed, polished or replaced.  Door, trunk seals window seals and body bushings have all been replaced. The interior has completely been redone from rug to headliner. New seat foams, rebuilt heater core box and new SS wheel just to name a few of the items. With the exception of the aftermarket gauges and the Hurst shifter in the stock console the interior is stock and looks 100% As you can see in the pictures the intake used is way too high to use the stock SS hood but I do have an original one (red in color) that goes with the car.

The engine is a Gen 5,  502 cubic inch block. I bought just the new short block in the crate from my local Chevy dealer and built it from there. All the machine/assembly and test fire was done at the premier hi-po engine builder “Boucher Racing Engines” in Rowley,  MA. They started by tearing it down and checking the line bore and deck heights. All the stock stainless rings were dumped in favor of moly rings and a Melling oil pump was installed. Next came angle milling the Brodix “Big Brodie” heads to achieve the desired 10.1-1 compression along with installing the Comp can solid roller camshaft and port matched Brodix intake with a Holley 850 CFM carb. Engine was test run and tuned in-shop before being installed in the car. These build specs and choice of parts was designed by Boucher’s after a previous very similar engine that made 602 dyno horsepower but with a slightly different cam and carb. I was assured my engine would be 550+ horsepower.  The engine installation wash finished up with a custom Hitachi high torque mini starter, hooker super comp 2 1/2 ” primary headers, MSD 7AL ignition (hidden behind the firewall) single wire alternator, custom 4 row radiator and all fuel is run in braided lines and AN fitting from the electric fuel pump to the Barry Grant pressure regulator.

The rearend is from a 1966 Chevelle. (overall its 1” narrower than a 1969) It was completely sand blasted, check for straightness and all reinforced welding done. It was rebuilt with a Moroso brute strength posi unit and Richmond 4.10 gears and Mark Williams hardened axles with C clip eliminators and 1/2 lug nut studs. The upper control arms were custom boxed and the lowers were replaced with South Side machine ladder bars. The rearend is bulletproof.

The transmission is the VIN matching turbo 400 that was rebuilt with a Fairbanks shift kit a new hardened output shaft and a TCI 2500 stall converter.  The driveshaft is a custom made Denny’s 1330 series unit that is warranted to withstand 700 horsepower.

Porsche 911 tops a list of must-have classics, but No. 2 is more of a surprise

Wed, Aug 9 2023

No surprise here: In Europe, the Porsche 911 is the most sought-after classic car. Surprise here: Slip-streaming the 911 in the most sought-after chart compiled by the Car & Classic marketplace is the Ford Mustang. Using the Google search engine as a means to pick the winners, as well as the average prices achieved on the “Car and Classic” website, the venerable 911 was tagged 1.45 million times per month according to data stretching back 15 years. The number of 911Â’s sold though the C&C marketplace was 21,141, at an average price of 58,409 pounds, or $74,300. FordÂ’s pony car, still a popular choice for buyers in Europe, placed second on the list with 1.2 million monthly searches. The average sales price over 15 years was 31,107 pounds ($39,570), and the number of older Mustangs sold reached a total of 8,332. Models that also finished among the charted top 10 include the Land Rover Range Rover, the Corvette, the ultra-classic British favorite Jaguar E-Type and the BMW 3 Series. “Whilst a 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7 RS could set you back the best part of GBP500,000 ($636,000), there are many more affordable models, which bring the average sale price of a 911 on Car & Classic to GBP58,000 ($73,800) – the third highest average selling price of any make and model on the site,” explained Dale Vinten of Car & Classic. According to the site, the Jaguar fetched the highest average selling price: a whopping 89,000 pounds, or $113,000. But thatÂ’s peanuts compared to a Series 1 Roadster in excellent condition, said Vinten. For that, “you can expect to spend up to GBP250,000 ($318,000), A Series 2 or 3 will cost less, as they are not as desirable, but in decent condition you can expect to pay around GBP40,000-GBP50,000. Even a barn find 1969 E-Type Series 2 Roadster can set you back to the tune of GBP33,000 ($42,000)." Launched in 2005, Car & Classic is among EuropeÂ’s most popular classic car clearinghouses. It also runs a stand-alone auction site.

GM announces 3 new recalls affecting 1.7M vehicles in North America [w/video]

Mon, Mar 17 2014

Still embroiled in the ongoing ignition switch recall, General Motors announced today three more discrete recalls, affecting a grand total of 1,546,900 vehicles in the US. The Detroit News reports that some 1.7 million vehicles are affected overall in North America. The first and largest of the trio of new recalls concerns some 1.18-million Buick Enclave and GMC Acadia crossovers from the 2008-2013 model years, Chevrolet Traverse from 2009-2013 (pictured above) and Saturn Outlook vehicles from 2008-2010. All of the crossover utilities may have an issue with the wiring harness for their seat-mounted side airbags. Apparently, the vehicles are equipped with a Service Air Bag warning light that, if ignored, "will eventually result in the non-deployment of the side impact restraints." Those restraints include the side airbags, a front-center airbag if the vehicle is so equipped and seatbelt pretensioners. Dealers of affected vehicles will be instructed to remove driver and passenger side airbag wiring harness connectors, and then "splice and solder the wires together." The second recall affects 303,000 Chevrolet Express (pictured right) and GMC Savana vans from model years 2009-2014, and with gross vehicle weights under 10,000 pounds. Said vehicles do not comply with a head impact requirement for unrestrained occupants, and will need a reworking of the instrument panel material to be sent back on the road. It doesn't sound as though there's a quick fix for this one, as the GM press release states: "Unsold vehicles have been placed on a stop delivery until development of the solution has been completed and parts are available." Finally, the third recall affects 63,900 Cadillac XTS luxury sedans from model years 2013 and 2014. A brake booster pump may be susceptible to corrosion by way of the relay, potentially causing and electrical short, overheating, melting of plastic components and even engine fires. GM says it is aware of two engine fires in unsold XTS models and two cases of melted parts. Repairs for the issues affecting the XTS have not not mentioned by GM in the release. The Detroit News is also reporting that along with news of the triple-recall, GM is taking a $300-million credit to help pay for the repair costs, and to deal with the ongoing costs associated with the ignition switch recall. In an attempt to explain just what GM has been doing in the face of these very serious issues, newly minted CEO Mary Barra has addressed the issues in a new video.
