Here is a very interesting car we purchased in Carlisle PA at the fall swap meet.  The car was built in Framingham MA and shipped to PA.  The original owner drove this Malibu sparingly and always had it in the garage.  In the late 80s, he had the car restored to his taste.  Originally, the car was a 307-V8, so he decided to build a performance 1969 4 bolt main  .010 motor.  Performance upgrades such as cylinder head work, mild cam, Edelbrock intake and carb and Flow master exhaust system, TH350 trans., 12 bolt Moroso posi rear and  F11 sway bar.  Original AC and still works excellent.  The car was repainted once in the mid 80s and still looks fantastic.  Laser straight orig. body panels, proper alignment to all the doors, hood and rear deck lid.  Solid orig. rear quarter and trunk pan.  Solid orig. floor pans and frame with no signs of any sheet metal replacement.  Upgraded 16" Rally wheels with low profile radial black wall tires.  PS, PFDB and rear defogger.  Equipped with an awesome am/fm CD player with sub-woofers in the trunk.  The headlamps were upgraded to Halogen, giving brighter night  vision.  Beautiful original chrome front and rear bumpers, orig. front grille, marker lights, tail lamp bezels and lenses are in perfect shape.  Orig. tinted glass, factory orig. paint through out the doors, hood and trunk jamb areas.  Window felts, door hardware, sill plates are in exceptional condition.  This one owner car has custom Recaro bucket seats, very comfortable.  Also, the rear bench is a folding seat from a 1969 Chevelle station wagon.  The dash board and instrument cluster is original and show 59,707 miles indicated as actual.  The door panels, headliner, rear pkg. tray are original and in tip top shape.  No cracks noticed on the factory steering wheel.  The column was shaved to remove the gear shift lever and B&M shifter was installed on the floor.  Tastefully done, the restoration cost was approx. $40k spent back in the 80s!  Over the past year, the engine was completely overhauled from a reputable engine builder in central PA.  Having the chance to meet him, he claimed the car had less than 200 miles on the rebuild.  No expense spared on this custom restoration of this rock solid example.  Comes with a factory build sheet, PA Title and history dating back to the 80s.  Certainly, one of a kind, drives excellent with no apologies.  Just a "really cool" mild custom Malibu.

Official USPS Muscle Cars stamps coming to a mailbox near you

Thu, 21 Feb 2013

As much as our digital lives have cut down on our trips to the post office, there are still times that sending "snail mail" is necessary. With us car lovers in mind and philately in their hearts, the good folks at the United States Postal Service will introduce a new stamp design called "Muscle Cars" starting on February 22.
Designed by artist Tom Fritz, the new collection of stamps consist of five classic muscle cars: 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona, 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS, 1967 Shelby GT-500, 1966 Pontiac GTO and 1970 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda. In addition to just the stamps, the USPS is also commemorating the new series with plenty of collectable memorabilia. Previous car-related stamps include 50s Sporty Cars from 2005 and 50s Fins and Chrome from 2008.

2014 Chevy Silverado High Country spied wearing trappings of new luxury trim

Wed, 03 Apr 2013

Spy photographers have spotted the new Chevrolet Silverado High Country and GMC Sierra Denali out on public streets for a little testing. From the looks of things, the Silverado will receive a much-differentiated front fascia along with special badges and those honking 20-inch chrome wheels. Expect to find a more posh interior as well. Likewise, the Sierra Denali will wear a tweaked nose with the familiar Denali bling. The one of the GMC trucks spotted here rolls on 21-inch gunmetal wheels instead of the 20-inch chrome pieces of the High Country.
Word has it both trucks will go on sale after the Texas State Fair this summer. While General Motors hasn't said for certain what we can expect to find under the hood, we'd be surprised to see anything outside of the range of engines found in the standard Silverado and Sierra models. That means buyers should be able to get their hands on the efficient, 23-miles per gallon 5.3-liter V8.

2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 [w/videos]

Wed, Jan 7 2015

I think I was supposed to be back hours ago. Driving northwest on State Road 190 with a final destination deep in the heart of the Death Valley National Park, it occurs to me that I might have agreed to return after an hour or so, instead of the four I'll end up stealing, solo, in the new Z06. Somewhere in the combination of mountain vistas, arching, speed-hungry desert roads, and the sound of this titanic engine on a constant run up the rev ladder, I forgot everything I'd promised back at home base. The generous, civilized part of me worries for a moment that absconding with the new-best Corvette might have left one of my fellow journalists without a car. But the selfish part of me – the part largely in control of the rocket-launcher of a throttle under my right foot – says "screw it." I spent two days with the 2015 Chevy Corvette Z06, a monster of a sports car that will soon be dominating track days everywhere, and I never once was inclined to share it. Hurtling through the shattered stillness of the desert and pulling big Gs at Spring Mountain circuit, I never felt overly disposed to give up my seat. This Corvette, more than any I've yet driven, was deep enough to hold my attention; for two days, for two years, probably. With this Z06, the Corvette steps over the amazing-for-the-price category, and solidly into the best-cars-in-the-world zone. There are peripheral elements that remind me of its blue collar, Bowtie heritage, sure, but there's more that simply begs me to carry on driving... faster. Most casual car observers will be able to pick the 2015 Z06 out from its less aggressive Stingray brothers. Subtler hints include a new, more open grille, larger extractor on the taller hood and rather discreet badges on the flanks of the car. More outrageous is the finned spoiler on the rear trunk lid, and the widebody look offered from flared fenders – an extra 1.57 inches (40 millimeters) at their beefiest point. Even driving around performance-car-laden Pahrump, NV – loaded thanks to the very active community at the Spring Mountain racing resort – members of the local populace were turning heads, waving and generally noting the Z06 with approval when I drove through town. In Torch Red over black painted aluminum wheels, staggered at 19-inches in front and 20 at the back, the amped-up Z06 hits a new level of road presence for the C7.
