This is an older restoration and has been a daily driver for the last 3 years. Last winter the shelter it was parked under, partially collapsed and did very minor damage. A small crease on the roof which can be seen through the vinyl and the antennae was bent which cracked the paint around the mounting hole. I pulled the right fender off to do the repair and noticed the lower rear quarter was improperly repaired during the restoration. I pulled the other fender off and it was the same. I bought the correct patch panels and welded them on and finished it to the primer stage. They still need to be block sanded and color matched. As this was a driver and had some dings and scratches I thought I would take care of all that. No time. We are in the process of moving and I'm taking an overseas contract. It would take very little to finish. This is not a turn key car that you can enter in a show and win anything but it is turn key that you could drive it to the west coast and back with no issues. This car gets driven often and has been very reliable.

I bought this from Streetside Classics in Charlotte 5 years ago. They said it was a real SS and not a clone but didn't have the documentation. I'm not a purist or collector and wasn't really concerned about the history. This was a good looking solid car and I did not investigate further. I added several thousand in upgrades but kept all the original parts.

Interior: Everything looks to be new. Needs dome light lens. There is a stock radio in the dash but no speakers. They were old and cracked so I tossed them and didn't get around to replacing them.

Engine: Replaced cam with a Comp Cams 268H .485 lift and duration of 219. Replaced the quadrajet with an Edelbrock carb. Replaced the points style distributor with a new GM HEI unit. Replaced exhaust manifolds with Hedman headers and a Pypes 3'' exhaust system and Dynamax mufflers. Installed new radiator. Made custom battery cables from welding cable. They are more flexible, durable and carry more amps.

Chassis: SPC performance series tubular front lower control arms, ride height adjustment kit, SPC pro series coil spring set, Street comp stage 2 plus prolite arms, Currie tubular rear control arms/adjustable upper with johnny joint, Currie billet aluminum lower control arms, Hellwig sway bar 1.25" tubular front bar with severe duty end links, Hellwig sway bar 1 1/8" tubular adjustable rear bar, Bilstien HD front and rear shocks, rear disc brake kit, Steering box and pump were replaced with a quick ratio unit from a 1979 WS6 Trans am. This car desperately needs 17" wheels to compliment the suspension system and add a little more ride height.

Driveline: Turbo 400 trans believe to be stock. Eaton posi track rear end. 12 bolt GM rear.

How a Texas Hyundai dealer became the Chevy SSR king

Tue, Apr 21 2015

The SSR isn't one of the most appreciated vehicles in Chevy's long history. With a style amalgamating the look of a vintage hotrod, convertible and a pickup, it's really serving a niche market right from the start. However, a Hyundai dealer in Texas has turned selling the cult models into a booming business and has become the de facto king of the quirky truck. According to Automotive News, Paul Peebles runs North Freeway Hyundai in Spring, TX, but he's better known in the Chevy SSR community the premiere seller of the weird model through his used car network. The odd venture started in 2010 when Peebles wanted to boost his pre-owned business and bought several sporty vehicles. Among them were five SSRs, and he threw a cookout for owners to get the word out. Things just ballooned from there. Since then, Peebles' used car dealer has had a hand in 447 SSR transactions, and some of those are the same truck coming back to sell again. With just over 24,000 of them out there, that works about to two percent of the model's production moving through just one business. The dealership also sponsors an SSR owners' forum online. Being a major broker for a niche model also means that Peebles often gets rare examples of the SSR, including some of the Indianapolis 500 pace car versions, according to Automotive News. We even saw a bizarre one last year when the business put this shark-inspired truck on eBay Motors. The whole thing also works out well for Peebles' Hyundai business. Specializing in SSRs brings other performance models in as trade-ins, and they can draw folks to the lot to check out the collection. Then, maybe visitors can take a look at a Sonata, too.

All of the Bond cars of 'No Time To Die' (caution for spoilers)

Thu, Sep 30 2021

Note: The following overview of the cars in No Time To Die contains spoilers. Read at your own risk, or come back after seeing the film to make sure you caught everything.   No Time To Die picks up right around where Spectre leaves us. James Bond (Daniel Craig) and Madeleine Swann (Lea Seydoux) are driving along in Bond’s restored and iconic DB5 in Matera, Italy. Things donÂ’t stay all that cheery for long in picturesque Matera, though. As is tradition in Bond films, the first car chase hits us with an explosion of action in what's a super-long opening scene. Fourth-gen Maserati Quattroporte: The baddies in the beginning are driving a Maserati and chasing after Bond in the DB5. Specifically, theyÂ’re in a fourth-gen Quattroporte, which feels right for a chase scene in Italy. Its squared-off looks are mean enough, and its Italian growl is a good background soundtrack to the DB5Â’s inline-six. In addition to the Quattroporte, the chase scene in Matera is home to a couple of the best stunts of the entire movie, including the arch jump done with a Triumph motorcycle seen in trailers — Matera is extremely hilly. Eventually, Bond and Swann find themselves in the DB5 again together, which is where the famous gatling gun scene from the trailer commences, but not before the bulletproof windows and body of the DB5 are thoroughly tested. RIP to the first-gen Range Rover Classics and Jaguar XFs that joined the Maserati in pursuit of Bond (here's a list of other Bond cars over the years). As the DB5 escape scene concludes, we catch a glimpse of what appears to be a Ferrari from the 1970s. However, the view was far enough away that weÂ’ll need a second look to be sure of the exact model. Land Rover Series III: Next time we see Bond, heÂ’s fishing in Jamaica and driving around a blue Land Rover Series III. ItÂ’s yet another of the many Land Rover products featured throughout the film, and unlike most of BondÂ’s Aston Martins, this one doesnÂ’t seem to have any unique features. The other intriguing vehicle out of Jamaica? An old Chevrolet Bel-Air expertly and effectively piloted by Bond newcomer, Ana de Armas. Next up, we get a few shots of the new and still-not-for-sale Aston Martin Valhalla mid-engine supercar (also seen in trailers). BondÂ’s old boss M is in the scene which appears to have been shot in some secret wind tunnel of sorts. Much to our dismay, nobody ends up driving the Valhalla in the film. Could it be a teaser for what the next 007Â’s car is?
