1968 Chevrolet Chevelle ss396 true ss car 138 vin code fully restored like new condition

Description:

I have up for auction a fully restored 1968 Chevelle SS, from the ground up no expense was spared, frame off restoration was done by a professional restoration shop here on Long Island, engine, transmission, differential, interior and all most everything else was done by myself.  The process took over 3 years to complete and was finished in December of 2012.  The car has won best in show at 2 different car shows and people’s choice in another 2 shows.  I will list all the features below, just to let you know this is not a 10 or 20 thousand restoration the price tag on this was up near $85,000.00 and I did a lot of the work myself, here’s what I’ve got in her:

Engine:

454 LS6 bored .030 461CI, 557HP@5900RPM, 525FTLBS@4500RPM, dyno tested, Balanced and Blueprinted by B&B Machine, Comp cams 595 lift 250* duration, solid lifter, Comp roller rockers and pushrods, Melling oil pump, Edelbrock RPM intake, Holley HP1000, Hooker Stainless Steel Headers 2"/3.5" collectors, Pypes Stainless Steel Exhaust 2.5" out the back sounds great, LS6 forged pistons 11.0 compression, LS6 dimpled steel rods, LS6 forged steel crank, 4 bolt LS6 block and heads rectangular ports, Power adder NOS 150 shot, totally remotely controlled from center console, tank is mounted in trunk (over 700HP).

Transmission:

M-22 modified custom gear ratio from Auto Gear Inc. I have the matching numbers case it goes with the car but installed is a M-22 Super Case with a 2.56 first, 1.91 second, 1.48 third and a 1.00 fourth gear, trany was built to handle the 700HP.  Differential, 12 bolt GM Eaton posi rear 3.73 ratio also fully rebuilt new posi clutch kit and bearings/seals.

General:

Period correct looking AM/FM MP3 stereo, buckets, console, original Hurst Competition plus shifter, full Autometer gages.  The entire interior is new, seat covers, door panels, carpets, fully Dynomatted floor, pictures speak for themselves way too much to list all new brakes and suspension, Bilstein shocks, boxed rear arms all urethane bushings, rear sway bar, stainless steel fuel tank and straps, the list goes on and on everything was either rebuilt or replaced even the blower motor everything works, it’s like a new car.  The differential and transmission are numbers matching the engine is not although as I mentioned prior the transmission case is not in the car at this time but it will be sold with it, the LS6 engine in the car is an icon only produced in 1970 and was rated at 450HP from the factory, that’s why I kept it I could of sold it for a ton of money and purchased a numbers matching 396 but I wanted the icon and an extra 200HP.  Body is strait as they come looks like glass.  I did change up the wheels you will notice in some of the pics grey SS rims and in the later pics I had them chromed for a better look also a head rest kit was installed after completion, headrests were $111.00 option in 1968...  The steering box is a quick ratio unit so when driving steering and handling feel more like a late model vehicle but the original numbers matching box will be sold with the car.  This car was also featured in the August 2014 issue of Car Craft Magazine.  There are so many things done to this car its hard to list all, any questions feel free to email us.

Payment:

PayPal, $500.00 down payment due at auction close, Please ONLY BID if you intend to pay.  Questions welcome e-mail us and I will get back to you ASAP.

Personal testimonies show real-world effect of plugging in with Chevy Volt

Mon, Jan 13 2014

At this point, there are tens of thousands of individual stories about what it's like to live with a Chevrolet Volt. But it also remains informative to take a look at one of these in depth. For example, one Atlanta-area Volt owner says he's cut his cents-per-mile ownership costs by almost 40 percent compared to his previous car primarily because of his ability to drive almost all the time on electric power. Jeffrey Cohen told Clean Technica that he put about 14,000 miles on his Volt extended-range plug-in hybrid for the year that ended October 2013, and that more than 92 percent of those were on electrons. He estimates his "lifetime" miles per gallon rating at a whopping 384 mpg, a figure pushed upward by the fact that he installed a Level 2 charger at home while his employer added an external 110-volt charger at work. Cohen is spending 45 cents a mile for his car, compared to 73 cents in his Infiniti M35. As a result, he's spending 45 cents a mile for his car, compared to 73 cents a mile with his prior vehicle, an Infiniti M35. About two-thirds of those Volt costs are for the $349-a-month lease payments, while 15 percent is insurance, 11 percent is for the charger and seven percent for the gas and electricity that actually powers the car. Helping lower that last figure is an overnight electricity rate that's about 10 percent of Cohen's daytime rate. Chevy parent General Motors hopes such testimonies will re-trigger sales for the Volt in 2014. Last year, GM sold 23,094 Volts, down 1.6 percent from 2012. We expect our readers have similar stories they'd like to share in the Comments. Weekly Recap: Geneva's splendor reflects growing demand for ultra-luxury cars

Sat, Mar 7 2015

Geneva is one of the most glittering auto shows in the world, but the list of high-powered and bespoke luxury cars was decadent this year even by the rich standards of the Swiss exhibition. It's great for enthusiasts to revel in the flame-throwing Aston Martin Vulcan, the racing-inspired elegance of the Bentley EXP 10 Speed 6 concept and the insane performance of the Lamborghini Aventador LP 750-4 Superveloce, but there's a reason for all of this opulence: the luxury market is big business. And it's growing. IHS Automotive forecasts that so-called ultra-premium sales will nearly triple this decade from 123,000 to 353,000 units around the world. The estimate includes brands like Aston Martin, Bentley, Ferrari and Rolls-Royce, but doesn't count BMW, Mercedes and Audi, which offer less expensive models in addition to their high-end flagships. Though IHS includes Porsche and its relatively large volume in the study, the ultra-premium segment is still set grow at about the same rate, even without the German automaker's figures. So what is propelling all of this growth in the most expensive segment of the auto industry? Put simply, there's more rich people. IHS Automotive principal analyst Tim Urquhart pointed to economic expansion in China, market recovery in the United States and a surge in the lucrative technology sector as contributing factors. This dovetails with a research report by UK-based Oxfam, an international relief organization, which found the world's richest one-percent owned 48 percent of global wealth in 2014, and it's expected to increase to more than 50 percent by 2016. View 17 Photos Carmakers are moving quickly to capitalize with new products, expanding their portfolios with low-volume speedsters like the 800-hp V12 Vulcan at Geneva, and plans to enter new segments, like Rolls-Royce's strategy to make an SUV. "Ultra-premium carmakers are looking to explore ways of growing their product offerings, and thus their bottom lines, in this most potentially profitable of segments," Urquhart wrote in a report on the Geneva show. In a nutshell, there are more choices for people with more money. It's a good time to have expensive taste. Other News & Notes 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata production launches It won't be long now. GM finds steering flaw, decides it doesn't warrant a recall

Tue, Apr 14 2015

Guess what? General Motors is back in the spotlight for not recalling something. This time, though, not only does the company have an argument against a recall campaign, but its position is supported by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. According to The New York Times, over 50 owners of GM vehicles have reported instances of stuck or seized steering after driving long distances without moving the wheel. One owner complained to NHTSA that the "locked" steering of their 2013 Buick Verano caused a collision with a concrete barrier in a construction zone. Along with the 2013 to 2014 model year Verano sedans, Chevrolet Cruze and Malibu sedans are also affected. Considering the popularity of those models, GM needs to have a reason for not issuing a recall, right? "Based on a very low rate of occurrence – ranging from less than one half to less than two incidents per thousand vehicles – and the fact that the condition is remedied when the wheel is turned, GM determined this was not a safety issue," spokesman Alan Adler told The Times. The company has, however, issued a technical service bulletin for owners that complain of the problem. The fix is nothing more than a software update that is covered for 10 years or 150,000 miles from new. NHTSA cited GM's actions, along with descriptions of the problems from customers, in its decision not to issue a recall, with spokeswoman Catherine Howden saying, "the symptoms described would be a brief, perceptible change in steering feel that has little to no effect on the driver's ability to safely steer the vehicle." "When terms like 'notchy,' 'stick,' 'slip' or 'feel' are used, it does not indicate a meaningful increase in steering effort," Howden told The Times via email. What do you think? Is GM in the wrong here? Should there be a recall, or is the issue so limited as to not warrant one? Have your say in Comments.
