West Palm Beach, Florida, United States

1968 Chevrolet Chevelle with very low miles. This is a project car I started with in 2007 and lost time and interest for soon after. It resides under a covered carport and has less than 200 miles since all items listed were installed. I have around $15k invested in it. The frame is solid and straight, the body has some rust and damage that will need repair (panels are brand new in box that needs replacement and included if auction ends above $5000.00)..As stated in the description there is no A/C or radio. The original gauges have been replaced with Auto Meter ones as well as there are no original interior parts. The wiring was replaced and fuse box added from a late model vehicle for safety, complete accessory wiring needs finishing. She is painted in black epoxy primer. Please refer to all pictures before asking questions or bidding.

Items upgraded include:

Newly Rebuilt low mile 350 Engine with 350 Auto Trans
2007 Chevrolet Corvette Factory take off rims (18x8 front/ 19x10 rear)
New Aircraft grade solid aluminum wheel spacers
New Nitto Tires on rear
2007 Cadillac DTS Black Leather Seats (Factory 'take offs' with air bags removed)
2007 Cadillac CTS Black Leather Steering Wheel
New Big Block Front Springs dropped 2 in.
New Front 2in Drop Spindle (4in drop overall)
New Wheel Bearings, Bushings, Tie Rods, etc.
New Front Disc and Power Brake Booster/Master Cylinder
New Covans Dash gauge cluster
New Autometer Chevrolet White Face Gauges
New wiring
New B&M Pro Shifter
New TCI Aluminum 15gal. Fuel Cell with safety foam
Battery Relocated to the trunk
New Driver Side Quarter panel and trunk panel -needs installation- (it's in a huge box)

MAKE NOTE:

I am forced to state the obvious because of a non-paying winner and is in no way to discourage you from bidding on what is a rare opportunity. Please ask all questions well before the end of the auction. The car is being sold 'AS IS' and nothing other than what is listed is to be assumed to be included in the auction. This is not being represented as a fully restored vehicle, rather a good condition, rare, 40 year old vehicle that has had the below mentioned additions added to it. Yes, it starts, runs and drives but is in no way in daily driver condition.. A qualified mechanic, whether yourself or someone you hire should inspect the vehicle for safety and finish whatever repairs you the winning bidder sees fit. I have provided clear pictures of what is being sold in this auction and you are responsible to make payment and take acquisition of the vehicle as stated. Please make all inquiries you may have, I will answer any questions I can. Good luck to all bidders!

More Corvette Stingray Factoids: Vanishing panel gaps and 26-mpg LT1

Thu, 28 Feb 2013

During January's Detroit Auto Show, we managed a longer than expected wandering tag-team interview with C7 Corvette chief engineering exec Tadge Juechter (pictured above), and LT1 engine boss Jordan Lee (pictured below). They are, quite honestly, two of the very nicest bigshot lads to ever walk the engineering corridors of an American manufacturer. Both are enthralled by what they're doing for a day job. So are we.
We've followed the pre-sale anticipation for the Chevrolet C7 Corvette Stingray like an Oreck vacuum yanking every speck of dirt from a well-trampled carpet. Everything is reportable and contains a grain of further knowledge about this dramatically important and cheered-for car, as it continues to be pressured into representing all that is superior about the American dream. The Corvette wears one heavy cloak.
So, most of what was talked about has been expertly reported already right here on Autoblog. But, looking through our notes again, both Jeuchter and Lee added facts to the buzzing mix.

Diesel Power finds the ultimate modified oil-burner

Sat, 24 Aug 2013

For nine years, Diesel Power magazine has run the Diesel Power Challenge, this year's grindfest being "a week-long torture test that features seven events, nine trucks, 8,000 horsepower, and nearly 15,000 pound-feet of torque." The road to being crowned "the most powerful truck" starts with a dyno run, and then continues through the completion of a CDL-style obstacle course, an eighth-of-a-mile drag race while towing a 10,000-pound trailer, a quarter-mile drag race without a trailer, a fuel economy test in the mountains and finally a sled-pulling test through a 300-foot-long packed-mud pit.
What kind of trucks get into such a fight? Last year's winner, for instance - who upgraded his truck this year to prove he didn't "luck into the win" - drives a 2008 Ford F-250 Super Duty with a 6.4-liter Power Stroke V8 upgraded with a custom intake, Elite Diesel triple turbos and a two-stage nitrous system. Another competitor has a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 powered by a 5.9-liter Cummins inline-six, upgraded with Garrett turbos, dual-stage nitrous, a seven-inch exhaust stack and twin fans built into the bed to cool the Sun Coast Omega transmission. The numbers on that truck: 1,255 horsepower, and 2,063 pound-feet of torque at the wheels. Naturally, as the image above might suggest, things don't always end well.
You'll find all five videos covering this years challenge below. A scene in the dyno video sums it all up perfectly: a competitor leaves his nitrous on too long and the crew is treated to some ominous poppings, he leans out the window, throws both hands up and shouts, "Amer'ca!"

Toyota tops Kelley Blue Book's Resale Value Awards

Tue, 27 Nov 2012

Kelley Blue Book announced its annual Best Resale Value Award winners, and we weren't too surprised to see the list dominated by Japanese automakers - mainly Toyota and Honda. KBB hands out the awards based on the projected residual value of mostly all 2013 model year vehicles, and Toyota skated home with a number of awards including 10 of the 22 overall categories and having five of its products in the top 10 for models with best resale value. KBB's Best Resale Value Awards were announced in the same week as the ALG Residual Value Awards, and there were many similarities between both lists, especially when it came to Toyota.
To come up with its winners, KBB measures depreciation over the first five years of ownership, and looks for the cars it expects to hold its value the best after this time; on average, the report says the 2013 model year vehicles will lose 61.8 percent of its value in five years. Of the 22 categories, 15 slots were filled by Toyota, Honda and Nissan products, while the Camaro and Porsche (Cayenne and Panamera) each took home a pair of awards. If Toyota has anything to be upset about in this list of cars, it's that categories for Hybrid/Alternative Energy Car and Electric Vehicle went to the Ford Fusion and Chevrolet Volt, respectively.
The overall top 10 models for the best resale value in 2013 are, in alphabetical order:
