Indianapolis, Indiana, United States
1968 Chevelle SS 396/ 350HP L-34 , Show Car!
Ready to Show or cruise, is my rare 1968 Chevelle SS 396/
350HP L-34 , with factory Muncie 4 speed manual transmission,
along with rare original gauge package containing the 5,500 redline in-dash tachometer.
Over the years, I've owned several different types of
classic muscle cars, and this particular 1968
Chevelle SS is by far my favorite!
If you are looking for an amazing, beautiful, attention getting classic muscle car with plenty of overall
performance, handling, comfort, and history...
then this is the car for you!
Unlike a lot of older
classic vehicles (missing documentation), my 1968 Chevelle SS comes with its rare original Dealer packet that contains the
original Owner Protection Plan and New Vehicle Warranty( Protect-o-plate
contained inside), original owner's
manual, service records, and the original owner's various maintenance receipts
collected over the years ( can be seen in auction pics).
This Chevelle is also an original bucket seat , factory 4 speed, center
console car .
HISTORY:
On November 21, 1967
this 1968 Chevelle SS
was purchased brand new at Morris Chevrolet in New Castle, Indiana
and has had only 3 owners to date (me being the third owner).
A stack of original owner’s maintenance receipts comes with the sale of my Chevelle
along with the
original Dealer packet that contains the original Owner
Protection Plan and New Vehicle Warranty( Protect-o-plate contained inside), original owner's manual, service
records.
Approximately 2 years ago,
my Chevelle was completely disassembled and then
fully restored .
(Prior to restoration, my Chevelle was solid from top to
bottom. Solid frame and all original solid body panels. Even more impressive, is that the roof
had no rust issues usually caused
by vinyl tops trapping moisture ).
A meticulous show
quality paint job was applied (
performed by a very reputable local Custom body/paint shop)
keeping with its correct factory
original exterior color ( cowl tag code: P2) Seafrost green with black vinyl
top .
The entire interior was
restored to immaculate condition (keeping
its factory original black vinyl interior),
Heater/blower motor/climate controls work GREAT!
It’s 396 powerplant rated at 350 Horsepower runs perfectly as well as its
Muncie M-21 4 speed
manual, close ratio transmission shifts smooth
and accurate through all gears (even the correct GL 4 manual transmission
gear lube was used when changing
fluid).
12 bolt
positraction rear end with the 3.55 gear ratio (all internal gears
and components in excellent condition).
This Chevelle runs GREAT! Starts right up even in cold
temperatures. Does not leak, smoke, or burn oil . Engine runs super cool
(average running engine temperature stays around 180 degrees F )
Also, my Chevelle has
factory power steering ( original power steering pump with separate original reservoir mounted to the driver side fender), along
with factory power brakes.
Just to re emphasize ….This Chevelle starts, runs, shifts,
stops and drives EXCELLENT!!!!
Another rare feature with my Chevelle is it's interior code
766 (as shown on cowl tag/see pic). I have yet to find another 68 Chevelle SS produced out of the
Atlanta plant with a 766 interior code.
Furthermore, the trunk is nicely detailed with correct mat, spare tire,
and bumper jack assembly.
I have a Clean and Clear Indiana title.
If you have any questions, then I strongly
encourage you to ask questions.
I will do my best to answer all
questions in an expedient manner .

GM Recalls 218,000 Chevy Aveo Models Over Fire-Prone Lighting
Wed, May 21 2014The recall train keeps on rolling for General Motors. Hot on the heels of its recent 2.4 million-vehicle recall of various models, it's now calling in 218,000 Chevrolet Aveo units from the 2004-2008 model years because they could catch fire. The problem concerns the daytime running light module in the instrument panel. It could overheat, melt and cause a fire. According to GM spokesperson Alan Adler, "We are aware of some fires," and the company "is still investigating." Adler wouldn't comment about how many fires were reported or when the automaker was first aware of this issue because of the ongoing analysis. However, he said the issue has not caused any injuries or fatalities. GM also doesn't have a fix for the problem with the DRL module yet. The company says in its recall statement to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that the remedy "is still under development." Adler wasn't sure when it would be ready, but he said Aveo owners would receive notification in the mail "relatively soon." They will receive a second letter later to schedule the repair. In a separate letter about the Aveo's problem to NHTSA (viewable here as a PDF), GM said its Executive Field Action Decision Committee decided to conduct the recall on May 16. Scroll down for the recall report. RECALL Subject : Daytime Running Light Module Overheating Report Receipt Date: MAY 19, 2014 NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V261000 Component(s): Potential Number of Units Affected: 218,000 Manufacturer: General Motors LLC SUMMARY: General Motors is recalling certain model year 2004-2008 Chevrolet Aveo vehicles equipped with daytime running lights (DRL). In the affected vehicles, there may be heat generated within the DRL module located in the center console in the instrument panel, which could melt the DRL module. CONSEQUENCE: If the DRL module melts due to the heat generation, it could cause a vehicle fire. REMEDY: The remedy for this recall campaign is still under development. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule. Owners may contact General Motors customer service at 1-800-222-1020 (Chevrolet). General Motors recall number for this campaign is 14236. NOTES: Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
'84 MotorWeek Cherokee, Bronco and Blazer comparison indulges your SUV nostalgia
Fri, Jan 16 2015These days, truck-based, full-frame SUVs are somewhat of a rarity on the auto landscape due to the rapid rise in popularity of easier-driving, car-based crossovers. Although, without the gradually building popularity of these chunky, high-riding vehicles decades ago, it's unlikely that America's roads would be filled with so many CUVs today. In its latest dig into the archives, MotorWeek has found a 1984 comparison test of a trio of these early Sport Utility Wagons, as long-time host John Davis called them, that helped get acceptance of this segment going. This is a red, white and blue test of the SUVs from American automakers at the time and pits the Chevrolet Blazer, Ford Bronco and Jeep Cherokee (specifically in Wagoneer guise) against each other. Driving manners and interior usability are considered in the evaluation, but Motorweek actually takes these vehicles off road, too. Among the bigger revelations is the improvement in on-road ability in the past 30 years. While specific 0-60 times aren't given, all three models take around 10 seconds just to get to around 50 miles per hour in the 500-feet on-ramp acceleration test. Check out this clip to see just how far this segment has progressed in the past three decades or just get a blast of nostalgia from these now vintage models. AMC Trans Am Javelin SST, an ultra-rare underdog, is up for auction
Sat, Sep 9 2023Among the rarest of the American muscle cars that went racing in the early Seventies — cars including the Camaro Z/28 and the Boss 302 Mustang — the 1970 AMC Trans Am Javelin SST may be the most hard to find, and among the most valuable. Only 100 units of this unique Javelin were produced, and one of them is up for auction at the Mecum event in Dallas on September 20. The Trans Am Javelin was fashioned in a patriotic livery of tricolor paint — red, white and blue — and arrived after the American Motors Corporation had decided in 1968 to compete in the Trans Am racing series against Ford and General Motors. The company's chief driver, Mark Donohue, would dominate the 1971 season, taking seven wins in his Javelin AMX and that yearÂ’s SCCA Trans-Am Championship. AMC took the trophy with 82 points, well ahead of Ford's 61, Chevrolet's 17 and Pontiac's paltry 7. The example listed for auction came equipped with a 390-cubic-inch V-8 engine with 325 horsepower at 5,000 rpm and 420 pound-feet of torque, power steering and brakes, dual exhaust, BorgWarner four-speed manual transmission and Hurst competition shifter. Its “ram induction system” sealed a chamber around the air filter so that cool air from the functional hood scoop would be funneled into the intake. This JavÂ’s factory price was $3,995 — a mere $32,000 or so in today's money, though it was expensive by the standards of the time. The 100 Trans Ams were among 19,714 Javelin units built in 1970, so they started out rare, and today the surviving examples are highly collectible, if and when they come up for sale. No bid estimate is available yet. Related Video: Motorsports Chevrolet Ford Pontiac Auctions Automotive History Racing Vehicles Classics
