1967 Chevelle Super Sport clone car. I purchased this great car from a fellow in Florida about 4 years ago. I bought it based on many photos and the write up about the car. When the car arrived I noticed that there were a few things that hadn’t been mentioned. First of all, the Saginaw 4 speed tranny was very loose and locked in 4th all the time. The rear end was a weak 10 bolt that my mechanic said that if I had put the pedal down hard, I would have parts all along the road. There were also some small rust bubbles on the bottom of each door and the front of the hood.. My mechanic who specializes in late 60’s Chevys, recommended a few things that I had him go ahead and do. New model specific Tremec TKO 5 speed tranny from American Powertrain with Hurst shifter (tachs at 2200 at 75 mph). New drive shaft from same company. New clutch. New 12 bolt rear end by Moser with 355 gears and disk breaks on rear. He cut out the rust bubbles and welded in new metal with new bolero red paint job. He also thoroughly checked out the big block engine and tuned it all up. It is a rebuilt 396/375 hp. bored .30 over. The car also has MSD ignition, blinker tach, flow master exhaust that sounds amazing, Cooper Cobra tires, American Racing Mags with center spinners. Newer carpet and headliner. All gauges, lights and windshield wiper works. The car is not perfect and I will be forthright about what I have noticed about the car. There is a radio that probably works, but there are no speakers in the car. The flasher button on the steering column does not function. The console clock does not work but you can get reproductions that would be an easy install. I was planning on getting a reproduction radio bezel because the one in there is a little dull. Some of the trim around the outside of the body is not shiny new and shows a little age. The packing around the windshield on the inside is a little puckered as they pressed it in place. I believe that could be replaced without much problem. The glass on the car is all good with no cracks or chips that I can see. The car is fast, handles very well and steers straight. All in all, I have really enjoyed owning this car. It is a real head turner and I get glowing comments wherever I go. I have only put about 600 miles on the car since I have owned it. With all that I have had done to the car, I am about 30 grand into it. I have only taken it to a few local shows each year and have won a few trophies. I hate to sell the car, but it’s time to move on to something else. I will honestly answer any questions you may have about the car.

Motor Trend puts Chevy Camaro Z28 and Porsche 911 GT3 Head 2 Head
Mon, Dec 29 2014Motor Trend admits, "This is an unfair comparison." But that doesn't make it any less fun to watch when they pit a Camaro Z/28 against the Porsche 911 GT3. The former has a 7.0-liter V8 with 505 horsepower and 481 pound-feet of torque shifted through a six-speed manual. The latter has a 3.8-liter flat-six with 475 hp and 324 lb-ft shifted through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Yet those are only the little disparities – the big disparities are mass and money: the Camaro weighs 3,882 pounds and costs $76,150 as-tested, the Porsche weighs 3,267 pounds and costs $145,785. But they're both about hardcore performance, so MT takes them out on the street, to the drag strip, to the parking lot for figure eights and a skidpad test, and finally to Big Willow for Randy Pobst to give his professional assessment. Remember when a lotta people spent a lotta time debating Pirates vs. Ninjas? This is like that, only it's the "haul-ass good-time car" vs. the "track surgeon." Enjoy the debate in the video.
Sunday Drive: Trucks and SUVs of all shapes and sizes
Sun, Nov 5 2017The American automotive marketplace is dominated by trucks and SUVs, and so was the last week of coverage on Autoblog. By far, the most popular story of the week was our First Drive of the 2018 Lincoln Navigator. It may look like an old-school lumberer, but in reality Lincoln's flagship is a thoroughly modern, turbocharged-V6-powered, three-row, luxury people mover. The Jeep Wrangler is the world's most recognizable vehicle. So it's no surprise that the next version looks a whole heck of a lot like the last one, and the one before. It's all in the details, which is why we were so excited when Jeep decided to unleash a trio of images showing both two- and four-door Wranglers for us to dissect ahead of the SUV's official debut at the L.A. Auto Show later this year. Past that, spy photos of the next Chevy Silverado and Ram 1500 were predictably popular. See both of those below, and the cap it all off, check out the entire week's worth of SEMA coverage – including the bonkers Hennessey VelociRaptor 6x6 – in our mega image gallery at the bottom of this post. Enjoy! As always, tune in to Autoblog next week for a front-row seat to all the happenings worth following in the automotive industry. 2018 Lincoln Navigator First Drive | From black sheep to flagship 2018 Jeep Wrangler revealed: First photos released before L.A. Poor headlights cause 40 cars to miss IIHS Top Safety Pick rating
Mon, Aug 6 2018Over the past few months, we've noticed a number of cars and SUVs that have come incredibly close to earning one of the IIHS's highest accolades, the Top Safety Pick rating. They have great crash test scores and solid automatic emergency braking and forward collision warning systems. What trips them up is headlights. That got us wondering, how many vehicles are there that are coming up short because they don't have headlights that meet the organization's criteria for an "Acceptable" or "Good" rating. This is a revision made after 2017, a year in which headlights weren't factored in for this specific award. This is also why why some vehicles, such as the Ford F-150, might have had the award last year, but have lost it for this year. We reached out to someone at IIHS to find out. He responded with the following car models. Depending on how you count, a whopping 40 models crash well enough to receive the rating, but don't get it because their headlights are either "Poor" or "Marginal." We say depending on how you count because the IIHS actual counts truck body styles differently, and the Infiniti Q70 is a special case. Apparently the version of the Q70 that has good headlights doesn't have adequate forward collision prevention technology. And the one that has good forward collision tech doesn't have good enough headlights. We've provided the entire list of vehicles below in alphabetical order. Interestingly, it seems the Volkswagen Group is having the most difficulty providing good headlights with its otherwise safe cars. It had the most models on the list at 9 split between Audi and Volkswagen. GM is next in line with 7 models. It is worth noting again that though these vehicles have subpar headlights and don't quite earn Top Safety Pick awards, that doesn't mean they're unsafe. They all score well enough in crash testing and forward collision prevention that they would get the coveted award if the lights were better.
