Well, top down weather may be left somewhere?? !! Real 138 code SS 396 Convertible.  Has a 1972 402 strongly built engine, same year Muncie 4 speed. Original 4 speed console bucket seat car.Frame off in 2000 in Georgia I was told, new body mounts and bolts,  quality  paint change from cream to red support this I feel , about 7k on drive train. 12 bolt 355 posi.  This car won trophies when I brought it home, but to make it better and know for sure what I had ,in the last 15months as a "refresh" and to be sure of  what I had, and thinking this would be my last restoration, it has been repainted : all moldings, trim, fuzzies, vent windows, emblems removed, sanded completely down, absolutely no rust ,then 2 stage BC/CC, new power canvas top with glass window, new top well, new interior, new emblems, new dash trim, new vent windows, new door glass, new window fuzzies, new wheel well moldings, new grill, new carb, new stereo, new top cylinders, new tilt steering, new tail lights and housings, new hood louvers, new wipers, new windshield, new back up lens, new blinker tach, new shifter, new console trim, new valve covers, new brake booster, front and rear sway bars and boxed control arms, all stainless pro polished, new wood wheel and horn parts, sure I am forgetting something ,tons of receipts over purchase price. Nice reliable REAL  SS for the price of some clones . Runs and sounds awesome. Trade down plus cash , maybe, for something with show quality paint at minimum. 442,GTO,Fairlane GT, Sport Fury, 3 window coupe, all at the top of my wish list. 57 Chevy too of course,  Not a distress sale,   804-389-1139, coffeyclassics@cs.com. Private owner. NO requests to sell it for me, NONE . Only documentation are non tampered original rivet vin plate, clear precise  Virginia title, and original affixed cowl tag. Priced for what I know it is vs what some may want to tell me  it is not, thanks. I already shared it is not a matching number, and claim no drummed up documentation. You can buy reproduction window stickers, build sheets, engine pad stamp kits, and purchase orders yellowed to look 40 years old. So be careful with all that documentation value placed on things. $48,500 and drive it away. Once you see it, a closed trailer may be your choice of departure tho. I would expect you want to see and touch it for this money, but it will be driven as I drive it until you purchase it, no exceptions . It is driven so no  colored tape on my springs, drive shaft, or idler arms nor chalk marks on the firewall!! Just being up front, a "matching number" trailer queen is way above this price, and if you can find a equal or better one for less, by all means I would but that one instead too, this is just a hobby for me, not a business, so opinions are just a mouse click away really. The  back glass HAS to be unzipped to let top down as it is glass, and I did not want to snap the boot onto the newly polished pinchweld molding hence no top down photos. But  boot is black and like new, all 14  clips on it and like new. Straight, clean, super nice, hard to find car, one of only about 3100 real ones made by GM that is. Only sheet metal I can see replaced is right inner rocker,  driver floor pan, no filler found during recent paint project at all. Near Richmond VA, come see it, you will like it. Call for any ????  I looked for years to find one, but retirement and new interests make it desirable ,not necessary, to sell after enjoying it so much this far.  5 minutes from the Richmond airport, come on down,up, over whatever, gladly pick you up and get you back. Doubt you can find and build a real 138 convertible yourself for this price. It is a great car.

Thanks for looking !!!

Take a close look at the guts of the Chevy Volt battery, powertrain

Sat, Aug 9 2014

Just how intimate would you like to get with the powertrain in a Chevy Volt? If you're anything like YouTube user d55guy, then spending a half hour filming yourself taking apart the battery pack, motor, inverter and more for a look inside sounds like your idea of fun. After all, this way you get to see the cooling system, the heavy safety kill switch and count up the individual cells in the battery modules. Fun! Turns out, we also enjoy languidly paced Volt dissection video goodness, and we think you might want to see it as well. So, we've embedded two videos below and if you don't have a better understanding of how the Volt is put together after watching them, well, at least you can't say we never tried to show you anything. Given that what's really happening here is the organized 'destruction' of an expensive and potentially dangerous object, let's talk safety. There's a serious disclaimer at the beginning of the videos and on the YouTube description page, but we feel the need to repeat the gist of it here: do not try this at home. The creator of the video says he is a trained engineer and has been doing things like this "for the better part of a decade," so he apparently knows what he's doing. With that in mind, watch it all below. When you're done seeing the insides of a Volt powertrain up close, if you need more filmed EV dissection/destruction, check out this video designed for first responders approaching a damaged Tesla Model S. Chevrolet Captiva looks mildly refreshed and ready for family duty

Tue, 05 Mar 2013

We showed you Chevrolet's major debut yesterday, the 2014 Corvette Stingray Convertible, but General Motors is making a big push for Bowtie consideration in Europe, so it's also introducing the updated Captiva crossover here at the Geneva Motor Show.
While still based on the same platform as North America's fleet-only Captiva Sport (which is effectively a rebadged Saturn Vue), the Captiva is available in both five- and seven-seat iterations, and it looks far more modern. That's particularly the case with this updated model, which features revamped front- and rear ends that include restyled bumpers, grilles and LED taillamps, among other changes.
As before, the midsize Theta-platform CUV will be available in both front- and all-wheel drive, and is expected to carry a range of four- and six-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines. Important US programming note: Chevrolet sources tell us that America's Captiva Sport will not receive these updates.

2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible is a Swiss hit

Mon, 04 Mar 2013

We've just received an early peek at the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible here at the Geneva Motor Show. General Motors was kind enough to let us attend the final dress-rehearsal for its press conference scheduled for tomorrow's opening media day, and we've come away with a good look at the droptop C7 in person.
In the metal, the new Corvette Convertible seems somehow less avant-garde than the Coupe, even in Z51 Performance Package guise. That's not necessarily a bad thing - more of an observation. That initial impression may be because the C7's new greenhouse is one of its most prominent departures from Corvettes past. While we didn't get to see the top erected, there's no rear side window in the stock images that Chevy has already released, suggesting the C7 convertible's profile will look a lot like its C6 predecessor. And with the new power tonneau cover in place, there are also no rear ducts that come as part of the Z51 package (they've been moved under the car).
As with its predecessor, the tonneau is a handsome double-bubble piece, and the body-color "waterfall" element into the cabin between the seats has made it to the new model as well. Thus, the overall look with the top down should be a bit more familiar to prior-gen C6 owners - if you're one of those put off by the C7's new shape, you'll probably appreciate the convertible bodystyle more than the coupe.
