IT IS NOT A CLONE, NOT A TRIBUTE NOT A RECREATION. IT IS NOT A FRAME OFF RESTORATION. IT IS A NICE ORIG SUPERSPORT THAT WAS PUT AWAY IN NICE NICE CONDITION IN 1985 AND WAS THERE UNTIL I BOUGHT IT.  i had the car repainted  it needed next to no bodywork and it is a really nice paint job in the original color.  the interior is orig nice but   has wear front seat has split and tears rear seat is nice door panel really nice , i have installed new front four piston calipers. new upper control bushings. four new shocks. i installed  new emblems and trim. but retained the originals. it was built in the framingham ma. general motors plant. so,,, if you are still reading you may be interested in the mechanicals, the 396 big block starts at the click of the key, the orig holley carb was rebuilt at an authorized holley dealer. it runs great drives well and handles nice and stops great.  but ... it visibly smokes,,  the original motor should be refreshed, and the clutch is tired but functional. if i still have the car a month from now i plan to do the motor and clutch. vin#138177g119313     block has to53IEF 7-H119313    TRIM PLATE  67 13817FRA 228L.   TO SUM THINGS UP .  this car does need some attention. but you would be hard pressed to find a nicer cleaner original car.  i am testing the waters here , i like the car , i am more of an old chevy truck guy not interested in trades though . i have set what i think is a very realistic reserve  the ebay community can decide . after many questions ,. here is some more info on the chevelle  also i have added ten more pictures, it does have power steering,  it has all of its original panels.  the frame is perfect.  the floors have no rust and have never been patched. as for bodywork , the car was arrow straight when i bought it in 2010, but the paint was crackled in places. i had the car repainted in 2010 the only rust in the car was a quarter sized hole behind the passenger rear tire.  also someone at some time had put hood locking hood  pins on the car , the original hood has been repaired  and looks perfect but the underside shows the repair. and there are two inch sized rust spots in the trunk and i have left it that way.  i have accumulated a bunch of parts along the way ,  have new heater core in box, repro or the orig blinker tach that matches the originals.  all new e-brake cables  wiperwasher tubing kit . and a lot of misc small stuff  and all will be in the back seat for the new owner,  i do not hesitate to jump in the car and go for a 50 mile ride but,, as stated in the description it does use oil and visibly smokes, i do not know if it is a valve seal issue i have not changed them , the engine should be rebuilt  but it does run smooth and strong on all eight cylinders. for $ 3000.00 the motor can be refreshed to stock original condition and a new clutch installed  which i do plan to do if the car does not sell. the originality of this car is the value it is a time capsule of a great car with all of its original components.  also please do not offer trades or offer to sell the  car for me for lots more.. the auction will run its course.  and lastly as to the reserve i will say that it is less than 40k  but,, i do know the cars worth  and also know what it will be worth  with the original motor rebuilt. good luck and thanks for all of the interest

Burt Reynolds' vehicles up for auction at Barrett-Jackson

Tue, Sep 25 2018

Burt Reynolds' influence on car culture cannot be overstated. Be it "Smokey and the Bandit" or "Cannonball Run," his films inspired a generation of car enthusiasts. He died a few weeks back from cardiac arrest at age 82. This weekend, four vehicles from Reynolds' personal collection — three Pontiacs and a Chevy — will go up for auction at Barrett-Jackson in Las Vegas. It seems Reynolds had plans to sell the cars before he passed. He even filmed a short teaser for the auction and planned to attend the event himself. Three of the cars are Pontiac Trans Ams. Two are re-creations of the cars he drove in "Bandit" and the film "Hooper." Both are 1978 models. The third Trans Am is from 1984 and was used to promote Reynolds' USFL team, the Tampa Bay Bandits. The fourth vehicle is a 1978 Chevy R30 pickup truck. It's styled like the truck he drove in "Cannonball Run." None of the vehicles were actually used in the movies. But they were registered in his name, making them far more legitimate than some other movie-inspired clones. It's unclear how many Bandit Trans Ams Reynolds has owned over the years. Another car connected to him sold for $450,000 back in 2014. His death is sure to drive the price of these new cars even higher. Are you the 2014 Corvette Grand Sport?

Thu, 21 Feb 2013

When are stripes more than just stripes? Follow up question: Is the product development team at Chevrolet really cocky enough to hide the next C7 Corvette variant in plain sight? This very recently spotted, and ostensibly obscured C7 asks a lot more questions than it answers, but there's at least some evidence to support that it might be the next Corvette Grand Sport.
The first and most obvious tip-off that something is up with this 'Vette revolves around those silver stripes. Obviously the stripes themselves don't necessarily denote a new model. However, when Chevy recently launched its "colorizer" website for the Stingray, there was no provision made for racing stripes - solid colors only.
Grand Sport exhibit number two is actually an incriminating lack of badges. The production Corvettes we've seen to date have all carried Stingray badges on their fenders, just behind the vent. The car seen in these images has no such badges, which is an intriguing omission on an car that looks like a production-spec vehicle otherwise.

GM executive chief EV engineer says reducing cost of plug-in vehicles is 'huge priority'

Mon, Mar 17 2014

As we know, another major automaker investing heavily in electrified vehicles is General Motors, and it's doing things much differently than rivals BMW, Ford or Nissan. The Chevrolet Volt extended-range EV is a modest seller at its $35,000 sticker price but a huge hit with owners. The Chevy Spark BEV, still in limited availability, puts smiley faces on its owners and drivers. The just-introduced Cadillac ELR, a sharp-looking, fun-driving $76,000 luxocoupe take on the Volt's EREV mechanicals, has admittedly low sales expectations. With this interesting trio in showrooms and much more in the works, the third vehicle electrification leader I collared for an interview at Detroit's North American International Auto Show (see #1 and #2) was Pam Fletcher, GM's executive chief engineer, Electrified Vehicles. ABG: Why do your EREVs need four-cylinder power to extend their range when BMW's i3 makes do with an optional 650 cc two-banger? "We designed [the Volt and the ELR] to go anywhere, any time" - Pam Fletcher PF: I get that question all the time: why not something smaller? You don't really need that much. You use the electric to its ability, then you just need to limp. But we designed those cars to go anywhere, any time, and we don't want their performance to be compromised. If you're driving through the mountains, we don't want you to be crawling up grades, or to be limited on any terrain. So it's optimized to be able to travel literally the biggest grades and mountain roads around the globe at posted speeds. Because what if you can't? Another good reason: when the engine is on, you have to run it wide open throttle, max speed, most of the time. And while we can do a lot with acoustics, and the ELR has active noise cancelation, a small-displacement, low cylinder-count engine at high speed, high load all the time isn't something you want to live with. That's how we came up with the balance we did among the key factors of performance, NVH [noise, vibration and harshness] and range. ABG: Where you go from here? Is the range-extender engine due for an update? PF: We know and love the current Volt, and there is still a lot of acclaim about it, so we think it's a good recipe. But we are heavily in the midst of engineering the next-generation car, which I think everyone will love and be excited about.
