 Hello,

Thanks for taking the time to check out my car!!  I will be sad to see the SS go, but I am looking to get some cash put together for a business I am starting up.  I purchased this car from a nice fellow in Ohio in April of 2010.  I grew up hearing stories of the car my father had, it happened to be exactly like this one!!  He also ended up selling it for the same reason I am selling mine, I guess history repeats itself after all.  When I bought the car it's odometer read 65,610 miles, I haven't even put 4,000 miles on this car since I owned it.  The longest trip it made was coming back from Ohio, that was fun!!  Restoring cars was this guys passion, and he spared no expense on this Super Sport.  He purchased the car in 1999, restored it from 2001 to 2003, going over everything in the process.  I bought the car in the condition shown in the pictures.  He took the stereo system out when he sold it, I put one back in it, and added a wooden steering wheel, that's all!!

Here is the nitty gritty on the car:

  • Paint - 2003 GM Cadillac "White Diamond"
  • Interior - black, restored to Original GM Specs
  • Dual electric cooling fans
  • 9.5:1 compression ratio
  • Muncie M-22 "Rock Crusher" 4 speed (rebuilt)
  • 396 V-8 naturally aspirated ( rebuilt)
  • Hurst competition plus shifter
  • Chevy 12 bolt posi rear end 3.08.1
  • Stock ride height
  • Stock GM suspension
  • Original drum brakes restored (work great too!!)
  • Hedman ceramic coated headers
  • custom dual exhaust w/ chrome tips
  • Flow-Master mufflers
  • BF Goodrich Traction T/A Tires (225-55 R17)
  • American Torque Thrust II Wheels

I have all the receipts for the work done to the car since 2001 when the restoration began, it is quite thick!!

Well, hopefully you have made it this far!  Here is the full disclosure on the car.

  1. Despite being a newly rebuilt engine, it does use oil (as everyone runs away from this listing).  I bought the car knowing this (see it can be done).  The amount of oil is uses has never changed since I purchased it, I am too nervous to have it worked on because the car runs amazingly well, and I fear that it would never run the same if someone was to touch it.
  2. Some person (ok, lets say asshole) managed to run into the corner of my car.  I did not ever find out who it was, actually happened when the car was in a parking lot, at a car show for that matter.  There was no body damage, but it did take a piece out of my paint job.  I will provide a picture, even though I hate looking at it.  The paint on the car is amazing, such a classy looking paint job.
  3. This car does not have a heater core in it, I never take it out in the snow or cold, so it hasn't bothered me : )
  4. Other than the above stuff, it leaks a drop of oil or two when sitting for extended periods of time, the engine, transmission and under body are amazingly clean.

Please, please, please contact me with any questions.  I am accepting cash only on this sale.  The car was appraised in 2006 for $47,000.  I purchased this car for $38,000, I would definitely like to be in between that range when I sell it, need all the help I can get.  If you are going to have this car shipped, you will have to set everything up, however, if you choose to come pick it up yourself, and you are not local, I would be happy to pick you up at the airport in Denver!!

The best Super Bowl car commercials from the last 5 years

Wed, Jan 28 2015

If you've been dipping into the Autoblog feed over the past days and weeks, you wouldn't even have to be a sports fan to know the Super Bowl is coming up. Automakers have been teasing their spots for the big game, dropping them days early, fully-formed onto the Internet and otherwise trying to amp up the multi-million-dollar outlays that they've made for air time on the biggest advertising day of the year. And, we're into it. The lead up to the Super Bowl is almost akin to a mini auto show around these parts; with automakers being amongst the most prolific advertisers on these special Sundays. The crop of ads from 2015 looks as strong as ever, but we thought we'd take a quick look back at some of our favorite spots from the last five years. Take a look at our picks – created from a very informal polling of Autoblog editors and presented in no particular order – and then tell us about your recent faves, in Comments. Chrysler, Imported From Detroit Chrysler, Eminem and a lingering pan shot of "The Fist" – it doesn't get much more Motown than 2011's Imported From Detroit. With the weight of our staffers hailing from in and around The D, it's no wonder that our memories still favor this epic Super Bowl commercial (even though the car it was shilling was crap). Imported really set the tone for later Chrysler ads, too, repeated the formula: celebrity endorsement + dramatic copy + dash of jingoism = pulled car-guy heartstrings. Mercedes-Benz, Soul teaser with Kate Upton One of our favorite Super Bowl commercials (and yours, based on the insane number of views you logged) didn't even technically air during the game. Mercedes-Benz teased its eventual spot Soul with 90-seconds worth of Kate Upton threatening to do her best Joy Harmon impression. (Teaser indeed.) It doesn't win points for cleverness, use of music, acting, or any compelling carness, but it proved that Mercedes' advertisers knew how to make a splash in the Internet Age. And, hey, it's still classier than every GoDaddy commercial. Kia, A Dream Car. For Real Life Like the Mercedes video above, the initial draw here is a pretty lady; in this case the always stunning Adriana Lima. But this Kia commercial really delivers the extra effort we expect while scarfing crabby snacks and homemades, too. First of all, Motley Crue. Second, a cowboy on a bucking rhino. Enjoy yet again.

GM dealers unhappy about pickup prices

Mon, 21 Oct 2013

The backlash is beginning. Following General Motors' price hike of the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra last week, dealers across the country are expressing their ire over increasing prices in the face of rebates and discounts on trucks from Ford and Ram.
Speaking to Automotive News, Sam Pilato, the general manager at Dimmitt Chevrolet in Clearwater, FL, Silverados are "selling very poorly." W. Carrol Smith, the president of Monument Chevrolet in the heart of truck country, Texas, said, "[GM's] position is that the vehicle stands on its own and it doesn't need a bigger rebate. That's not what the market is telling us."
According to AN, that's the general attitude amongst Chevy and GMC dealers across the country, where the twin pickups are getting butchered in sales by competitors offering up to $9,000 off their sticker prices. Part of the problem for GM is that its trucks are arriving on the market near the end of the current F-150's lifecycle, a fact that Ford has taken advantage of.

GM offering factory-backed extended warranty for Chevys, GMCs, Buicks and Cadillacs

Mon, Oct 15 2018

Cars are generally more reliable than ever before. When things do go wrong, every automaker offers some form of factory warranty (in most cases at least three years and 36,000 miles, though many extend even longer), providing peace of mind to new-car buyers that many faults will be fixed at no charge to the customer. Starting today, GM is offering a new optional plan that will extend the factory warranty on all new Chevy, GMC, Buick and Cadillac products. In the past, extended warranties have been offered as dealer add-ons, with all profits from these sales going to the dealership. GM's new program can be viewed as another nail in the the looming dealership-model coffin. According to Automotive News, some dealers aren't happy to see GM cut into their business like this, saying that it helps GM far more than it does dealers. GM says the new program will help keep customers in the GM family. Customers are also more likely to visit a GM service center rather than going to an independent repair shop. Currently, new Chevy and GMC vehicles come with three-year/36,000-mile warranties. Buicks and Cadillacs are covered for 4 years or 50,000 miles. The new program extends Chevy and GMC warranties to five years or 60,000 miles. Buick and Cadillac warranties extend to six years or 70,000 miles. GM, citing IHS Markit, says most owners keep new cars for about 6.8 years, so these warranties will cover most of the length of their ownership. The extended warranty will add between $1,000 and $2,000 to the price of a vehicle, and the additional cost can be rolled into the vehicle's purchase or lease price. Unlike many dealer extensions, the factory program covers the vehicle no matter who owns it. That should help increase the car's resale value if it's sold within the covered timeframe. GM says there's no deductible and no need to file a claim form when getting warranty repairs. Additionally, dealerships can continue to sell their own extended warranties or service contracts.
