1966 Chevelle Malibu 52,000 Original Miles. on 2040-cars
Bellmawr, New Jersey, United States
Selling my 1966 Chevelle Malibu that I purchased in February of 2012 from the second owner who purchased it just a year before from the original family that owned the car since new in 1966. The car was bought new by a lady in PA in 1966. She kept the car unit she passed away a few years ago, at which time she left the car to her nephew. At some time her nephew had the car painted the the maroon color it is now, as the original color of the car was the artesian turquoise. Her nephew really didnt do much of anything else with the car as I always saw it sitting a few miles from my house. In the spring of 2010 a co worker of mine saw the car was finally for sale and he bought it. He then parked it in his garage where it sat for almost another year until he had to sell it for personal reasons. I then bought the car from him in February of 2012 with the plan of just sitting on it until I finished my current 56 Corvette project. Now over two years later, I am still working on my Corvette project and realizing I just don't have the time to have two project cars. I hate to sell the car as there isn't many original unmolested Chevelles left, but I also hate to see it sit and not be used.
As for the car, it currently has 52,790 original miles. the engine and drivetrain run great, and the car rides very smooth. The suspension feels great while driving and the steering is still very good. It drives very straight with no rattles or squeaks. Brakes are also very good. The only thing I had to replace since I had the car was the water pump as the original had a small leak. Everything works on the car with the exception of the AM radio. I was told that the roof was sanded down and painted with the black sealer to stop some bubbles that were in the paint around the sail panel area. There are a few bubbles here and there on the body but nothing major. There is one about the size of a dime on the lower passenger side door, and there are a few along the lower windshield channel. The floor is mainly in good shape although it will need a partial floor pan just under the driver side foot pedal area. It appears that when the car was painted last time, they repaired around the rear window but never put the rear window trim back on, but it is still with the car. The trunk floor had two small homemade patches intalled at some point also. From what I can see the wheel wells look OK both inner and outer, and again when it was painted last, the lower rear quarters were cut and replaced. The front fenders appear to be in very good shape as they are not rusted at all in the lower area like most do. For the interior, it has the original bench seat with seat covers on front and back. I partially lifted the cover and saw 1 or 2 cracks in original vinyl on driver side. There is also 1 crack on the dash pad. Door panels are in good shape. Other then the color change the car is completely original. It even has the original metal dealer tag laying in the trunk with it although it was removed and the mounting holes were filled in when they painted it. If you have any other questions please ask. |

Indian tuner turns Chevy Optra into Mustang 'Eleanor' replica
Fri, 03 Aug 2012If you are a big fan of automotive oddities, this may come as a little treat. If you are a Shelby or Mustang diehard, prepare to have your sensibilities violated.
The master fabricators at BigDaddyCustoms are the minds behind what you see above. At first, it appears to be a slightly misshapen custom Mustang, modeled after "Eleanor" from Gone In 60 Seconds, but upon further examination, something appears to be amiss. In fact, the custom shop, based in India, has created an Eleanor replica grafted upon a lowly Chevrolet Optra. While it may take a second for the Optra to ring a bell, you should recognize its badge-engineered sibling, the Daewoo Lacetti, used on Top Gear.
We don't know what star would opt for the Reasonably Priced Car in Shelby's clothing, but it's clearly someone more concerned with the aesthetic than the performance credentials of this automotive mash-up.
Corvette Stingray Convertible images mysteriously appear on web, so we add our own
Tue, 22 Jan 2013It was inevitable that we'd see the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray topless at some point, but that didn't make us any less interested when a pair of supposedly leaked official images showed up on theautoinsiderblog.com last week. We posted them on our Facebook page, but held off reporting on them here until we could get a little more information.
Those images, which feature a dark red car on a sterile black studio background, supposedly first appeared on the website of diecast model maker Maisto. A Chevrolet spokesman has been reported saying that they are "not official images released by Chevrolet PR," which isn't a denial they're the real deal, but neither is it a confirmation.
Close examination of the photos suggest they could be official shots of the Corvette Stingray Convertible, and while some have doubted their authenticity due to a lack of vents (which were seen on the C7s that debuted in Detroit last week), it could be that the images are of a base model car without the Z51 package that doesn't require the extra venting and cooling.
Chevy confirms Corvette Stingray Convertible for Geneva
Thu, 07 Feb 2013Want proof that General Motors has increased global ambitions for its 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray? It's staging the world premiere of the model's convertible variant at the Geneva Motor Show early next month.
As previously rumored, the droptop rendered above will debut at the Swiss show, making its first appearance anywhere on March 5. According to Susan Docherty, president and managing director of Chevrolet, the location makes sense because Corvette "...is an icon that has long been recognized and admired even in countries where it's never officially been offered."
While neither Chevrolet nor the Corvette has a major sales presence in Switzerland, the Bowtie's European headquarters is located in Zurich (about three hours to the northeast of Geneva) and GM has made it clear that it wants to build the Chevrolet brand up across Europe.
