This is a California Black Plate Survivor car that was purchased from the 2nd owner, a real life "little ol lady" (see Pics).  She purchased the car with her husband, Jacob, on August 29, 1967  from the local dealership in San Francisco California, Ernest Ingold - George Olsen Inc. 999 Van Ness Ave.  The Protect-O-Plate with Owner Protection Plan booklet are present as well as the Owners Guide and salesman's business card.  I also have the California Title issued to Jacob on 8/29/67, so I know that he and his wife have owned the car since that date.  The owner told me that the car has never left the San Francisco Bay area and that the miles of 72,000 are original.  The car still wears what appears to be the original paint and interior.  There are several small dents and scratches on the sides of the car however the hood, roof, and truck lid are near perfect. The underside of the car is also beautiful as you can see from the pics.

This car runs and drives great, I drove it several hours from San Francisco to Sacramento.  Placed a fuel additive with lead to the fuel system so as not to destroy the non hardened valve seats. Engine runs very strong and does not use oil.  Trans shifts smoothly.  Steering and suspension are nice and quiet. Tires are older but have plenty of tread left on them.  Am radio works great. As close to a rust free car as you can get without restoration.  Minor surface rust here and there but no rust through.  See pics.

Send me a message and I can send you a link to my photo bucket with many more pictures of the car. I also have a video of the car driving down the road.

Call Mike if you have any questions or want to make an appointment to come see the car at 916-764-9759.  This car may be sold locally.

Chevy Cruze CNG available from Crazy Diamond Performance

Thu, Aug 7 2014

Anyone out there who can somehow find a second way to link Pink Floyd to natural gas vehicles gets a prize. Because so far, we have one Michigan-based company called Crazy Diamond Performance (Shine On You Crazy Diamond being a longtime Floyd fave) that's setting out to convert Chevrolet Cruze vehicles to run on compressed natural gas (CNG). All in the name of cheaper fuel and domestic security, of course. Crazy Diamond says it can offer a converted CNG-powered Chevy Cruze for a price as low as $26,000. That four-cylinder version has 130 horsepower and an 8.5-gasoline-gallon-equivalent capacity that provides a full-tank range of as many as 250 miles. Pony up another $2,000 or so and the peppier, turbocharged CNG Cruze can be yours. The company says it will provide a 100,000-mile powertrain warranty and is trying to get EPA certification for its conversions. The selling points are cheaper fuel (CNG is about half the cost of regular gasoline in some parts of the country) and homeland security (CNG reduces dependence on foreign oil). The only production passenger vehicle CNG in the US is the Honda Civic CNG, which sells in very limited numbers. Check out Crazy Diamond's flyer here. Steve McQueen's last movie car, now Pawn Stars-owned, up for auction [w/video]

Sun, 03 Feb 2013

The last car Steve McQueen ever drove in a movie is officially up for auction. The 1951 Chevrolet Styline DeLuxe Convertible you see above is now owned by none other than Rick Harrison of Pawn Stars fame, but once ferried McQueen around the set of his last film, 1980's The Hunter. That flick saw the Bullit star play a bumbling bounty hunter and didn't exactly set the box office on fire. McQueen bought the car after production wrapped, and four years later it sold at his estate sale at the Imperial Palace in Las Vegas.
Flash forward to 2003, and the convertible received a full restoration back to near-stock specifications. Hagerty Insurance estimates the car to be worth around $45,000 without the significant providence. Given its ties to one of film's most popular gearheads, the old Chevrolet could fetch up to 10 times that when it goes under the gavel in Ft Luaderdale, Florida on March 22. You can head over to the Auctions America site for more information. You can also check out the trailer for The Hunter below.

Chevy Corvette Stingray "colorizer" lets you chase the rainbow

Thu, 14 Feb 2013

After you've convinced your better half to let you buy a new Corvette, then comes the hard part... actually figuring out which 'Vette you want. While Chevrolet has yet to release the official configurator for the 2014 Corvette Stingray, it did give us something else to kill some time playing around with.
The C7 Corvette "colorizer" recently went online, and it lets you look at the car in all of its available colors and wheel options from four different angles so that when this car does go on sale, you know exactly which one you want. It includes the Corvette's full pallet of colors including Torch Red, Laguna Blue and the hue you see above, Velocity Yellow. Toss in the black wheels, and we're sold. If you have some time this afternoon, be sure to check it out the Corvette colorizer for yourself, and even if you don't have the time, we've put together a gallery with all of the possible color combinations.
