Unfortunately, the other "buyers" didn't materialize, so I'm forced to re-list it. I've dramatically reduced the reserve and will take BEST OFFERS this time around. The car is worth more than I am asking for the Buy It Now, I just am out of time to close the deal. My loss, your gain. So, ask questions and good luck!
=================================================
The time may have come to part with my baby. We're looking at moving and as much as it pains me to say, the down payment on the new house is sitting in my garage. :-( So, with that said...

The car is a 1965 Chevelle Malibu SS tribute w/ a fully dressed  .60 over 350 full hydraulic roller small block, Holley 650 double pumper, MSD Electronic Ignition, with complete NOS system (not yet plumbed) that puts a TON of hp to the ground, A/C, P/S, P/B, automatic transmission, lowered 3", custom made trunk enclosure, custom hidden stereo installation, very nice interior. We take the car to shows all the time and it gets PLENTY of attention. It'll melt the tires and turn heads. The car is pure mean in PPG Triple Black and dropped on black chrome rims.

I've had the car for about 7 years now I guess. Over the years, we've done a lot to the car mechanically, cosmetically, etc. I'm going to try to be as complete, transparent, and honest as possible. I've bought and sold enough cars online to know it can be a difficult process. My eBay rating should speak for itself.

The motor was freshly built a few years back and used since as an occasional weekend cruiser and show car, couldn't have more than a couple of thousand miles on it MAX (odometer no workie). The transmission (Turbo 400) also was freshly built when the motor was installed.

The Details - system by system:
  • Professionally built .60 over 350 small block, full hydraulic roller, comp cam (don't have the exact spec, but it's mildly "lopey" and makes plenty of vacuum). MOTOR DOES NOT LEAK OR BURN OIL AT ALL.
  • Holley 650 Double Pumper on an Edlebrock Air Gap intake manifold, Holley electric fuel pump (fuel gauge not working) and pressure regulator. Complete NOS system including chrome bottle (full), valves, etc. (not yet plumbed..just the bottle mounted for show in the trunk). NO FUEL LEAK OR FUEL SYSTEM ISSUES (other than the gauge as mentioned)
  • MSD electronic ignition
  • full dual exhaust from Headman headers back, Flowmaster 40's (sounds INCREDIBLE). O2 sensor bung welded in for the added Air/Fuel Mixture gauge in the dash.
  • Turbo 400 automatic transmission (built the same time the engine was), 3000 stall converter, shift kit, Lokar floor mounted shifter. I just had the rear tail seal and rear mount replaced. There is a small transmission fluid leak but it's not from the rear seal. Haven't replaced the pan gasket yet (but I have the gasket and filter kit I'll send with the car). We believe the leak is from the filler tube o-ring or the vacuum line. Transmission shifts HARD and reliably every time. The speedo doesn't work. The car was originally a column shift car, so when we added the floor shifter, we simply cut the column shift arm back to the collar. The right way to do it, would be to buy a new collar...we just haven't gotten to it yet.
  • rear end I believe is 3.91 but I can't confirm that. It was replaced before I bought the car, so it's not original. It is not posi. Jumps from a stop very smartly and rolls down the highway just fine, too.
  • brake system - car stops great for still having drums. The chrome master cylinder, booster, and proportioning valve are only a couple of years old. They were bought for discs we just haven't converted it yet. All it needs is the spindle swap.
  • aluminum radiator and thermostat controlled electric fans. The car NEVER overheats even in South Florida summers. NO COOLANT LEAKS
  • much of the suspension was replaced over the last couple of years: 2" Hotchkis drop springs all the way around, then it needed a little more drop so about 1/4 coil was cut out of the fronts. The rears we added simple spring compressors to level it out. Brand new performance shocks added up front to accommodate the low ride and tire tuck. Its a bit of a stiff ride, but it needs to be to get it down where it is. Before the shock upgrade, the passenger front tire did rub the inner fender well a bit on a really sharp hard turn. it caught the edge of the metal and cut the tire, so the front right tire is brand new.
  • tires and wheels: 245/45/17 on American Racing polished aluminum rims that were then painted with a "black chrome" tire finish (a bit of an experiment). The aluminum needed a polish anyway, so I figured worst case scenario, if I hated the black, it would come off and we'd go back to polished. They are still black because I think it looks mean.
  • The electrical system is solid but mostly original. Headlights, taillights, signals, etc. all work. Horn isn't connected.Wipers are finicky. The connector behind the dash is a little loose; when I was working on it last, I'm sure I bumped it, so the wipers aren't coming on right now. It's happened plenty of times before. It's a matter of getting up behind the switch and reconnecting.
  • the original stereo is in the dash but not hooked up. The new stereo/CD player is hidden in the glove box and controlled (with the door closed) by wireless remote with RF sender. Two 6x9's sit in the rear deck and with the trunk enclosure acting like a speaker box, the system sounds great.
  • A/C system is practically new (compressor, drier, all new braided lines and fittings) except for the evaporator unit (under the dash). Just needs to be charged. Blower works and is integrated into the original dash controls
  • custom built trunk enclosure. Wooden panels were custom made then upholstered in a grey microfiber material. I had a custom piece of black carpet made for the deck with blue border/binding. The trunk is really sharp looking with the NOS bottle mounted up. I added blue led strip under the upper lip for the night time cruises/shows.
  • the interior: brand new black carpet, chrome dash panel. This is the original interior (seats and door panels), but it's in really nice shape. The headliner was replaced right before I got the car, so it's nice. We just put brand new chrome bases on the arm rests. The rear sail panels, package tray, windshield trim could use to be adjusted and refitted. They are a bit sloppy.
  • all of the glass is intact. Windows all work. Windshield is new and professionally installed. The door glass all have new rubbers and felts.
  • original front seat belts are there and we added back seat lap belts.
  • under the hood is dressed with plenty of chrome and aluminum. Makes for a really nice effect when you pop the hood. I also added some LED's under the hood for those night time cruises/shows.

The car runs like a top, shifts perfectly, BIG power to the ground, sounds incredible, turns heads everywhere we go.

The Issues:
- the paint job isn't awe-inspiring. The paint used was TOP OF THE LINE (I have some left and will send), but unfortunately the guy that applied it wasn't a craftsman. The prep and the application itself wasn't superior, so it shows. I'ts done in single stage PPG Triple Black (really deep black). Once it was done, they wet sanded it to try to get it right. It helped a LOT, but unfortunately, they did rub through on a couple of edges (edges are always much thinner in paint, so it's easy to do). There are some very fine scratches left by the process in a few places that could likely be buffed out. There are a couple of bubbles (driver's side quarter and rear deck filler panel) where the paint has some adhesion issues. Ultimately, the car looks great from 10' and going down the road, but sitting at a show for inspection by a critical eye, there are issues to be addressed.
- there are a few issues with the bodywork that still could be addressed. We did 95+% of the sheet metal work over the last handful of years (new quarters, trunk filler panel, door skins, etc). The floor pans are solid but the driver's side front has a little rust. The trunk floor is a little rusty with a some holes (but completely hidden by the custom enclosure). Under the driver's side drip rail is some metal work that could be done (small patch that should be filled up and painted). You can't see it unless you lean down under and look for it. There was a patch panel welded onto the driver's side door front edge. Again, the prep on it was poor so the edge of the panel cracked through the the paint a bit.
- a couple of small seam separations in the front seat (NOT tears..these can easily be stitched closed).
- the front and rear windshield trim isn't great. The front probably should be replaced. The rear isn't too bad, just needs to be re installed more tightly.
- the doors close like the heavy beasts they are. The driver's door sags a little so you have to be firm when closing it.

I would have no concern  (and regularly do all of this) about putting the car on the road for a local cruise of the area, jumping on the highway to do 80 (or more ;-) to get somewhere, showing it off in a show/cruise night, or taking up to the speedway to run the 1/4.

I encourage you to come see it if you are serious. It doesn't disappoint.

I reserve the right to end the auction early as the car is for sale locally.

2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible is a Swiss hit

Mon, 04 Mar 2013

We've just received an early peek at the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible here at the Geneva Motor Show. General Motors was kind enough to let us attend the final dress-rehearsal for its press conference scheduled for tomorrow's opening media day, and we've come away with a good look at the droptop C7 in person.
In the metal, the new Corvette Convertible seems somehow less avant-garde than the Coupe, even in Z51 Performance Package guise. That's not necessarily a bad thing - more of an observation. That initial impression may be because the C7's new greenhouse is one of its most prominent departures from Corvettes past. While we didn't get to see the top erected, there's no rear side window in the stock images that Chevy has already released, suggesting the C7 convertible's profile will look a lot like its C6 predecessor. And with the new power tonneau cover in place, there are also no rear ducts that come as part of the Z51 package (they've been moved under the car).
As with its predecessor, the tonneau is a handsome double-bubble piece, and the body-color "waterfall" element into the cabin between the seats has made it to the new model as well. Thus, the overall look with the top down should be a bit more familiar to prior-gen C6 owners - if you're one of those put off by the C7's new shape, you'll probably appreciate the convertible bodystyle more than the coupe.

Autoblog fan favorite car ads from Super Bowl XLIX

Mon, Feb 2 2015

Super Bowl XLIX is in the books, and the New England Patriots emerged victorious. Of course, if you're like us, the big game wasn't so much about the battle between the east coast and west, so much as a fight between the world's automotive advertisers. We collected and collated all of last night's new ads and put them together for you to vote on. And yes, we're limiting this year's contest to last night's new features. That's why you aren't seeing Dodge's epic Wisdom among our collection of commercials, and it's a similar story with Chevrolet's Truck Guy Focus Group series, which highlights the new Colorado. You can still vote for your favorites. We won't be closing the voting on our Super Bowl page, so while the winners and losers are correct as of this writing, it's entirely possible that there could be some changes in the rankings as time goes on. So, without any further ado, here are the winning ads based on your voting. Nissan: With Dad Fiat: Ready For Action Jeep: Beautiful Lands BMW: Newfangled Idea Mercedes-Benz: Fable NASCAR: America Start Your Engines As for those ads that failed to impact you, loyal readers, Toyota was the absolute, undisputed loser. The Japanese brand ran four ads in total – two for Toyota and two for Lexus – and all of them have negative tallies as of this writing. Lexus' Make Some Noise and Lets Play and Toyota's One Bold Choice and My Bold Dad both had very weak showings among the commercials that aired, although they weren't alone. Neither Mazda nor Kia scored particularly well, despite featuring celebrity magic act Penn and Teller and former James Bond, Pierce Brosnan, respectively. Chevrolet was the winner of the losers, as of our writing, recording the fewest downvotes for its audience-punking The Big Game ad. If you want to take a second look at the losing ads, you can head back to our Super Bowl page for the complete collection. But for now, head into Comments and let us know what you think of the results.

Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee teases return with a Countach

Fri, May 29 2015

Unless you have an intense aversion to Jerry Seinfeld, it's hard not to find something to like about his show Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee. After all, the series combines funny people telling often hilarious stories while riding in ridiculously cool vehicles. The trailer for the sixth season is now online, and based on this tease, this definitely looks worth watching no matter what part of the videos interest you. Of course, it's the automotive portion that really grabs us, and Seinfeld has quite a fleet to showcase for season six. The trailer shows off a Lamborghini Countach, a '57 Chevrolet Bel Air convertible, a classic Volkswagen Beetle in the green and white German Polizei livery, a Morgan, an Aston Martin DB5, and a Ferrari 308. On the more humorous side of things, the guest list at least includes Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Jim Carrey, Steve Harvey, Stephen Colbert, Bill Maher and upcoming host of The Daily Show Trevor Noah. Season six of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee premieres on Crackle on Wednesday, June 3, at 11:30 PM ET.
