You are bidding on my 1965 Chevelle 300 Deluxe 2-door post coupe.  Out of the 378,000+ Chevelles produced in 1965, just over 8,000 were the 300 Deluxe 2-door post coupe model, making it very rare today. The post coupe is favored by drag racers and hot rodders for its light weight and rigid body.

The interior features correct OEM '65 low-back bucket seats and full rear bench.  Door panels are good, brand-new carpet, door sill plates, trunk divider, package tray, glove box liner and headliner.  While not perfect, the interior does looks very good.  The dash features a vintage Sun Super Tach II tachometer front and center for a nice clean look, while accessory oil pressure and water temperature gauges monitor the vitals.  The speedometer and engine warning lights work, as do the head lights, tail lights, and brake lights.  A new B&M Pistol-Grip Quarter Stick shifter is mounted on the floor to handle the shifting duty.  Overall, the interior looks and feels comfortable, clean, and complete just as it is.

The engine is a High Performance 1970 396 Big Block, rebuilt with under 30K miles; still tight and fresh.  The engine internals include 10.25-1 compression flat top pistons, mild performance hydraulic camshaft and lifters, high volume oil pump, and a balanced bottom end.  The heads have been surfaced, have a 3-angle valve job, dual valve springs, screw-in studs, pushrod guide plates, and poly locks.  The top end features a Holly Street Dominator aluminum high rise intake, while a high-volume electric fuel pump delivers the fuel to a new Edelbrock 750 carburetor, sparked by an HEI ignition.  The custom driveline was professionally balanced.

New Hooker big-tube headers and full 2 1/2" dual exhaust with X-pipe handle the exhaust.  A Champion custom 4-row aluminum high-capacity radiator keeps the engine running at under 190 degrees.  Oil pressure is strong and steady.  New plugs, wires, battery, alternator, regulator, starter, belts, and hoses. Fresh engine oil and filter, as well as 50/50 antifreeze. The engine is backed up by a '70 Turbo 400 automatic and 10-bolt rear end.  The transmission was also just serviced with new fluid, filter, and pan gasket.

The engine/trans combination is in good, strong running condition with a fresh professional performance tune-up.

The entire underside of the car has been cleaned and painted, with almost all the fasteners having been replaced as well... looks great underneath.  Front suspension has been redone with new shocks all around, new brakes, and restored '71 Chevelle Rally wheels with new trim rings and inserts mounted with good Daytona radial tires.  Manual steering is  tight and surprisingly easy to steer; manual brakes work great with solid pedal feel.

The body appears to be virtually rust-free; I can't find evidence of any outer-body rust anywhere.  The trunk has been restored to original speckled paint and looks great; no rust there either.  It was originally Turquoise Metallic, and is now in gray primer.

The chrome is nice, the stainless is good but not perfect, and the glass is very good.  All the windows roll up and down smoothly, doors open and close well, panels align well.

It still needs the outside, dual mirrors, lower body "300" belt moldings, front marker lights, and license plate lights. Inside, passenger side- and rear arm rests, and a paint job.

As you can see, the car is still what I'd call a light project.  I believe I've priced the car fairly to leave some room to finish it out and still be right-side up.  All the big stuff is done and the car is a great runner/driver as-is.

While every effort is being made to describe the car accurately, please keep in mind it is a 47-year-old classic, and therefore being sold "as-is," without warranty expressed or implied.

Please contact me upon auction completion to make arrangements to pay within 3 days by bank wire transfer, major bank cashier's check, or cash.  Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer, and I will make myself available to your carrier for pickup and loading.  Please, no zero-feedback bidders without checking with me prior to bidding.

I am open to a reasonable offer on the car, and you may call me at 360-936-9257 to discuss anything you wish.

General Motors CEO Provides Few Details In Appearance Before Congress

Wed, Apr 2 2014

It was only two months ago that Mary Barra, freshly crowned as the new General Motors chief executive officer, visited Washington DC as an esteemed guest of First Lady Michelle Obama for the State of the Union address. On Tuesday, Barra returned to the Capitol under more strained circumstances. For more than two contentious hours, she took questions from members of a House of Representatives subcommittee investigating General Motors years-long delay in initiating a recall of millions of vehicles that contained a defect that has killed at least 13 people. Why did GM accept faulty ignition switches that were below the company's set specfications? Why did GM learn about the problem in 2001 yet take no action until 2014? Will GM compensate victims' families even though the company's bankruptcy may limit its liability? Those were a few of the questions members of the House Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee asked. Few concrete answers were forthcoming. For her part, Barra sidestepped most of the questions, saying she wouldn't have information needed to answer them until an internal review is completed. David Friedman, the administrator of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, testified after Barra. The biggest news that emerged from the hearing was that General Motors has retained attorney Kenneth Feinberg to advise the company on its civil and legal responsibilities. He has made a career of resolving disputes and serving in a 'fixer' role, serving as the chief of the federal government's September 11th Victim Compensation Fund, as an administrator of compensation fund for victims of the BP Deepwater Horizon disaster and a similar fund for victims of the Boston Marathon bombing. Barra, who has been GM's CEO since January but been with the company since 1980, expects to meet with Feinberg on Friday, and have a concrete plan within the next 30-60 days. Yet Barra would not say for certain Tuesday that GM would compensate the victims at all. Despite repeated questions from Rep. Diana DeGette (D-Colo.), Barra did not outline the company's intentions. "I assume GM is hiring (Feinberg) to help identify the size of claims and then compensate the victims? Is that right," DeGette asked. "Is GM willing to put together some kind of a compensation fund for these victims that Mr. Feinberg will then administer?" "We've hired him to help assess the situation," Barra replied. "So really, there's no money involved at this point," DeGette asked.

China's rise, global restructuring wither GM's Korea division

Wed, Jan 7 2015

An article in the Daily Kanban suggests the sun is setting on GM Korea, and it could already be well into dusk. GM Korea came about when General Motors, along with co-investors SAIC and Suzuki, bought Daewoo Motors from parent company Daewoo Group in 2001; it had a previous tie-up with GM, a joint venture that ended in 1992, although Daewoo cars were based on GM cars until 1996. Over the decade following the purchase, it became such an important part of operations that it was renamed GM Korea in 2011, "to reflect its heightened status in [the] global operations of GM." Just two years later, the printed rumors were that the subsidiary responsible for a fifth of Chevrolet's global production could be shutting down. The division's sales were down almost 21 percent through November of last year, counting domestic South Korean sales, exports, and CKD – Complete Knock Down – products. That makes the labor strife, already an issue for four years, even more acute, reports say the subsidiary will lose $36 million a year if it can't get the job and wage cuts it wants, and government concessions can't make up for the losses. And it gets worse, so head over to Daily Kanban to read the rest of the story.

Was the C7 Corvette cut from Beyonce's Super Bowl halftime show?

Tue, 05 Feb 2013

Someone was bound to receive a free 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray during the Super Bowl XLVII festivities; it just wasn't who we thought it was going to be. Despite a report back in December that superstar Beyoncé Knowles would be getting an all-new Corvette during her halftime performance, that turned out not to be the case. Joe Flacco, starting quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens, did in fact win a Corvette for his MVP performance.
So what transpired that prevented Beyoncé from rolling on stage in the new Chevrolet? Anyone who knows isn't telling, but according to Yahoo! Autos, General Motors said that for one reason or another a deal "did not work out," and it appears to have been an eleventh-hour change. Regardless of who's to blame or what prevented this from happening, we're sure Chevy has had no problems getting attention for the C7 Corvette since it was introduced last month.
