Unique 1999 Cavalier Z24 With Siezed Engine on 2040-cars
China Spring, Texas, United States
One of a kind front and rear (my own design). Front fenders widened 3" each and open rear "Viper style". After market parts include: 2" drop springs, front and rear strut tower braces, wing, rear and side louvers, wind/rain guards, carbon fiber "Evo" hood with rain shield for openings in hood, coil booster packs, rear sway bar, silver dash face with blue or green illumination, projection beam "halo" headlights w/LEDS, LED taillights, 2 pair driving lights, K & N air filter. Also includes OEM springs (front springs, rear assembled struts), front and rear metal bumpers and covers, one spare 17" silver 11 spoke rim, 1 spare 18" tire on damaged rim (hit curb), 2 18" white 7 spoke rims and 2 17" silver 11 spoke rims. Just replaced many front suspension components due to hitting a curb. One owner vehicle. Automatic transmission (recently rebuilt-have receipt from Aamco). Clean title. Front end has a steel sub frame behind fiberglass (custom built). Main dash structure dry-rotted and broke below steering wheel and forward of dash cover (made cover for missing section in front of dash cover). Mileage is high but vehicle has been well maintained. Selling due to original engine spinning a bearing and replacement (used) engine is doing the same thing. I have other projects I need to work on without worrying about another "used" engine failing.
Vehicle is NOT in any condition to drive due to engine. So, buyer will need to make arrangements to either pick-up or transport vehicle.

GM investing $167m in Spring Hill for new midsize vehicles
Tue, 06 Aug 2013General Motors has announced a large investment in its Spring Hill, Tennessee facility. The former home of Saturn production will be getting a $167 million addition to a previously announced $183 million, to cover a pair of new midsize vehicles. The investment is expected to create 1,800 jobs at the factory.
That $350 million is being divvied up for a pair of programs at Spring Hill. The first will take the bulk of the money ($223 million) and create 1,000 of the 1,800 jobs, while the other will take the remaining $127 million and generate the leftover 800 positions. But GM says the investment will cover "midsize vehicle programs." So what could they be?
The leading candidate in our minds is a new crossover for Buick, called the Anthem, that will slot between the Encore and Enclave, but will be slightly smaller than the Equinox and Terrain. As we've explained, the new model will likely be the first product to sport GM's new D2UX platform, which will eventually replace both the Delta and Theta platforms. Spring Hill is already building the Equinox, so there could be some credence to this theory.
Feds open investigation into Chevy Express, Ford Freestar rust issues
Wed, 28 Dec 2011'Tis the season... for road salt. And with that, comes rust. And what does rust bring? Well, for Ford and General Motors, a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigation. According to The Detroit News, NHTSA is looking into potential recalls issues with Chevrolet Express vans and Ford Freestar minivans.
The feds have received five complaints that rust has caused leaking fuel filler pipes on 2003 Express vans. Separately, seven complaints have been filed over excessive rust in the rear wheel wells of 2004 Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey minivans. The Freestar and Monterey went out of production in 2007. Neither issue has resulted in any crashes or injuries, according to the report.
GM execs fired over fraudulent India emissions testing
Mon, 29 Jul 2013General Motors hadn't had a recall in India since 1995. That changed when it was discovered that certain employees were playing tricks with local emissions testing in order to ensure passing grades for engines. More than ten GM Powertrain employees in India and the US have been let go over the ensuing emissions flap, including Sam Winegarden, VP of global engine engineering, a man who has been with the company since 1969, leading development of some marquee powerplants.
According to Automotive News, an internal investigation revealed that employees "violated testing procedures," sometimes swapping specially prepared low-emissions engines during testing regimes for the Chevrolet Tavera SUV equipped with the 2.0-liter and 2.5-liter engines. Employees were also manipulating weights in order to get vehicles placed into different emissions categories. The discovery has led to GM recall the 114,000 Taveras produced over an eight-year period and halting their production and sale.
The Economic Times of India reports that the issue is due to "a faulty component." GM has developed a solution to the issue, and once it is validated in testing and approved by the Indian authorities, the recalled vehicles will be fixed at dealers and production will resume.
