Rare, Barn Find 1984 Cavalier F41 Convertible With Only 45k Miles on 2040-cars

Up for auction is a very low mileage 1984 chevrolet cavalier F41 convertible. This car was stored for several years in a barn and has very low actual miles(45,755) I recently bought this car, put a battery in it and it runs decent, however it has very old gas in it so I am sure that new gas and a tuneup would do wonders for it. It is in very good shape for a 30 year old car as you can see in the photos. It has pw, pl, ps, pb, cruise and A/C however the a/c has been disconnected. When you push the switch to put the top down, you can hear the motor running but it does not go down ( I put the top down by hand) I am sure that because of the car sitting in storage that something stuck or is unhooked. It is very easy to lower the top by hand. The top is in good shape with the exception of 1 small patch (see pic) The car is powered by a 4 cyl (I believe 2.0 liter) engine and a automatic tranny. The car starts right up, drives and stops but because it has been in storage and not driven in several years, along with the fact that the tires are very old and cracked, I strongly advise that it be trailered home and then gone through before driving it a long distance. I have lots of pictures to show how solid the body is but please keep in mind that this is a 30 year old car that has been in storage and only recently taken out of the barn. Corvette Stingray Convertible images mysteriously appear on web, so we add our own
Tue, 22 Jan 2013It was inevitable that we'd see the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray topless at some point, but that didn't make us any less interested when a pair of supposedly leaked official images showed up on theautoinsiderblog.com last week. We posted them on our Facebook page, but held off reporting on them here until we could get a little more information.
Those images, which feature a dark red car on a sterile black studio background, supposedly first appeared on the website of diecast model maker Maisto. A Chevrolet spokesman has been reported saying that they are "not official images released by Chevrolet PR," which isn't a denial they're the real deal, but neither is it a confirmation.
Close examination of the photos suggest they could be official shots of the Corvette Stingray Convertible, and while some have doubted their authenticity due to a lack of vents (which were seen on the C7s that debuted in Detroit last week), it could be that the images are of a base model car without the Z51 package that doesn't require the extra venting and cooling.
Vert-A-Pac train cars kept your Chevy Vega's price in check
Fri, 01 Mar 2013Our apologies to those who've seen this before, but for the rest of the class, how awesome are these pictures of the Vert-A-Pac shipping system General Motors came up with to ship the Chevrolet Vega back in the 1970s? Developed along with Southern Pacific Railroad, GM was able to double the amount of Vega models it could ship by packing them into the unique storage cars vertically.
At the time, rail cars could fit 15 vehicles each, but Chevrolet was able to lower shipping costs by making it possible to ship 30 Vegas per rail car, in turn allowing the price of the Vega to remain as low as possible. Each rail car had 30 doors that would fold down so that a Vega could be strapped on, and then a forklift would come along and lift the door into place. All the cars were positioned nose down, and since they were shipped with all of their required fluids, certain aspects had to be designed specifically for this type of shipping, including an oil baffle in the engine, a special battery and even a repositioned windshield washer reservoir. Kurt Busch to shake and bake (again) in Ricky Bobby car at Talladega
Sat, 19 Oct 2013Kurt Busch will channel Ricky Bobby for another NASCAR race, this time driving a Wonder-sponsored Chevrolet SS, in this weekend's Camping World RV Sales 500 at the Talladega Motor Speedway. Unlike past tie-ins, though, there's actually an element of sponsorship here (the "Me" car was done when Busch was running on a team without sponsorship).
It was arranged by Flower Foods, the new owner of the Wonder brand. Wonder was part of the bankrupt Hostess company, which temporarily exited the US market 2012, and set off the Great Twinkie Shortage.
Busch has made something of a habit of channeling characters from famous racing movies, most recently running Tom Cruise's City Chevrolet livery from Days of Thunder in a Nationwide Series race earlier this year. Busch kicked off his movie-inspired antics, though, at Talladega in 2012, when he raced El Diablo's ("It's like... Spanish for like a fighting chicken") "Me" car complete with a cougar on the hood. He even went so far as to channel the lovable idiot that is Ricky Bobby during the race, dropping a few catchphrases about macchiatos and slingshots.
