This is a very RARE Chevy Cavalier 1986 Convertible. Beautiful Classic Car! Low original miles 40,122. The original Chevy Cavalier came standard with the 2.0L but this car has the optional 2.8L multi-fuel injection V6!  Additional options include aluminum wheels, tilt steering wheel, intermittent wipers and electronic instrumentation.

The body: minor scratches on the paint. We have owned it for a couple of years and it has not been in any accidents during our ownership. Rear window is new as of 2011 and crystal clear. The car comes with a car cover as well.

The Interior: Red cloth interior in excellent condition with no tears or stains, includes custom floor mats. In the two years we have had the car, we have replaced the complete exhaust system and shocks.  Done some minor tune up operations done by a Chevy Master Mechanic, recharged the coolant system, replaced the belts and hoses and added four new speakers along with the ability to plug in your ipod, MP3 or iPhone to the sound system.  We left the original stereo as it still works, AM/FM Cassette.

The top is in very good condition with no tears or blemishes.  Looks almost like it was new before I purchased it. The top operates perfectly and has a boot cover to hide the top when it is down as well that snaps into place.  Tires in good condition.
We have additional parts to give you with the car: Left and Right rear tail light covers, 3 spare wheel caps as well as original seller brochures, owners manual and supplement, GM maintenance schedule booklet and repair shop manual.

We purchased this vehicle from the original owner in 2011 on eBay and were very happy with the car and experience.  Hope to do the same for someone else.

This is a very fun car to own and drive!

Chevy Corvette Stingray picks up another award, this time from Automobile

Mon, 18 Nov 2013

The new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray has picked up another buff book accolade after capturing Road and Track's Performance Car of the Year award. The seventh-generation of America's sports car (sorry Viper, Mustang, et al.) has been named Automobile Magazine's Automobile of the Year.
Automobile's award to the Corvette over competitors is the mirror image of its rival Motor Trend, which named the Cadillac CTS its car of the year over the C7. The CTS was, according to the Automobile team, the closest contender to the mighty Stingray. Great news all around for General Motors it seems.
As for what pushed the Corvette past its distant, four-door cousin, Automobile commended its excellent, 6.2-liter V8 calling the car's performance "simply awesome" while also remarking that it is easier to drive fast than ever before thanks to steering and chassis tweaks. Following a theme set by other publications, there were also plaudits for the interior, of all things, with the buff book complimenting the car's ergonomics and material quality, while also praising the standard seats.

Subprime financing on the rise in new car sales, leasing too

Fri, 07 Dec 2012

We all remember the financial crisis that began several years back. At its core was a splurge of subprime lending for housing loans. The housing bubble burst, triggering a collapse of the mortgage-backed securities market. Apparently, those types of loans still exist in the automotive industry, and the market share for these types of "nonprime, subprime, and deep subprime," loans has grown 13.6 percent compared to the third quarter a year ago.
According to an Automotive News report, high-risk lending expanded to 24.8 percent of total loans in Q3, up from 21.9 percent for this time last year. As this level increased, average credit scores of borrowers dropped to 755, down from 763 a year ago. In that time, the average financing amount increased $90 per vehicle, to $25,963.
At 818, Volvo maintains the highest per-owner credit score, while Mitsubishi has the lowest, at 694. The highest rate of borrowers was at Toyota, with 14 percent of the market, followed by Ford with 13.1 percent and Chevrolet at 11.1.

Watch this creative way to pull a truck's engine

Fri, 08 Mar 2013

Living in an apartment complex has its benefits, but for shade-tree mechanics who like/need to work on their own cars, it definitely has a number of disadvantages. Relatively simple tasks such as brake jobs and oil changes are difficult when you don't have dedicated driveway space, to say nothing of more in-depth repairs... like pulling an engine, for example.
For these types of challenges, a little ingenuity and plenty of muscle are needed to get the job done. Scroll down to watch these four men snatch the V8 out of a Chevrolet K1500 using nothing but a chain, landscape timber and good ol' fashioned brute strength. Good work, gentlemen.
