1974 CHEVROLET CAPRICE CONVERTIBLE! A TRUE 454 CAR THAT IS LOADED WITH EVERY OPTION KNOWN TO MAN!

1974 CHEVROLET CAPRICE CONVERTIBLE! NUMBERS MATCHING AND LOADED WITH EVERY OPTION YOU CAN IMAGINE! RUST FREE, STRAIGHT, AND TURN KEY!

This Caprice is an original factory 454 big block car that came loaded with every option you can imagine. This Convertible has rarely seen the light of day so it still retains the majority of its original sheet metal. All of which is exceptionally solid and rust free. It has gone through brief restorations over the years such as being stripped and painted 6-7 years ago. Last year, the original numbers matching motor was pulled and professionally built in to a power house 468! As it sits today, you could hop in her and drive her anywhere.

List of options:

  • Numbers matching 454 built to a 468

  • Power Windows

  • Power Top

  • Power Seat

  • Power Steering

  • Power Brakes

  • Tilt Steering

  • Air Conditioning

Body: The body on this Caprice is extremely straight. The underside of this Caprice really tell the story of how pampered this car has been its entire life. As you will see, it still has all of its factory under coating and it is exceptionally solid. The frame, floor pans, trunk, they are completely solid. There are no rust holes, no pin size holes, nothing, it is just completely solid. Approximately 6-7 years ago, the entire car was stripped and repainted professionally by a gentleman who wanted to build a one of a kind show car. The paint on the car today, still shows very well. There is no trash, spider webbing, cracks, nor orange peel. It has been driven so it does have its share of minor rock chips but nothing extreme. The Caprice still retains its original bumpers, trim, and emblems. All of which are in excellent shape and show very well. The suspension on the Caprice was also gone through at the time that it was painted. All of it was replaced with new components and when you drive it, you will feel it first hand. She soars down the road with no problems. The vinyl top on the car was also replaced. It too is of excellent quality and condition. The back window that is now in the car is glass, not the cheap and ever decaying plastic that you typically find in them. The Caprice does sit on a high dollar set of Lexani 26's. The wheels and tires alone cost over $5,000. They were also professionally painted to match the car and they have approximately the same mileage on them as the engine which is under a thousand miles.

Engine & Mechanical: Last year, the original 454 was pulled from the Caprice and completely rebuilt by a professional speed shop here in Kansas City. The production sequence is still on the pad on the front of the motor. The motor was bored and built to a 468 which has a tremendous amount of power. Everything within and outside of the motor is brand new with less than a thousand miles on the whole thing. It does not smoke nor leak any oil. The 400 transmission was also pulled and rebuilt. It too has less than a thousand miles on it and it functions perfectly. It does not slip nor leak any fluid. As you will see within the photos located below that the Caprice has a new set of Ceramic coated headers and that the exhaust is also brand new which sounds surreal. You can feel the Earth shake below you as she cruises by. All of the electrical components on the Caprice are in good working order. Everything works! The windshield wiper setup, all four of the power windows, the power top, turn signals, tail lights, head lights, dash lights, everything within the instrument panel, EVERYTHING is in excellent working order. The only thing that is not installed on this Caprice is the AC. Which we do have everything to put it back together.

Interior: The interior within the Caprice is just like the body and underside of the car, it tells a story which I could never properly put in to words. Everything that you see within the interior is all original and is in good shape. The only thing that needs fixed is the front bench seat which is being done as this auction runs. It has several spots where the stitching came undone. The back seat has no problems nor do the front and rear door panels. The carpet is still in excellent condition as is the dash pad. There are no cracks nor fades within the dash pad.

It is Summer and Convertible season is upon us! So do it right with this turn key Caprice that is only destined to mature in its value. I can tell you that to find a car that is this unmolested is rarity in its own and to build one to where this one is at today, you would easily spend twice as much as what we are asking. I will be evaluating all reasonable offers and I will in fact sell the Caprice early as we do have it for sale "locally". I strongly encourage anyone who is interested to please call or email to schedule a time to come check it out. I would also like to add that I am usually on the phone from 7 AM until about 12 AM so you are always welcome to call and if I do not answer, just leave a message and I will return your call immediately. I know from my own experience with purchasing cars online, most of the time it is very difficult to get someone on the phone and to obtain the information you need. So I try to always stay on top of emails and phone calls. I do have a clear title for this Caprice. As always, good luck and happy bidding!

Thanks,

Shawn

Sunday Drive: Taking a gaze into the automotive crystal ball

Sun, Oct 22 2017

Mankind has long been fascinated by the future. So it makes sense that this past week's top stories were all about cars, trucks, and SUVs that won't be hitting the market until the 2019 model year. And right at the top of the list is the Ram 1500. We've come to know Ram as the truck maker that styles its pickups with cues cribbed from big rigs, but that look has slowly evolved over time into something uniquely its own. The next Ram 1500 continues this trend, with a newly refined look that we can't wait to see in person. Up next is the 2019 Chevy Silverado. Pickup trucks have been, continue to be, and will remain the best-selling vehicles in America. And General Motors is a leader in the field, with two distinct offerings with which to entice buyers, one from the bread-and-butter Chevrolet brand and one wearing the slightly more upscale GMC badge. The Chevy looks to get LED lighting elements for 2019, which ought to keep the truck from looking dated when compared to the Ford F-150 and the previously mentioned Ram 1500. From there we move past pickup trucks and into SUVs and sedans. The 2019 Jeep Cherokee looks to get toned down a bit with its next refresh, and the '19 BMW 3 Series continues its slow evolutionary journey at the top of its aspirational sales pedestal. Finally, spy shots give way to official production reveals for the 2019 Audi A7 and Polestar 1. This pair of European luxury cars won't compete with one another – one is a rakish hatchback and the other a sports coupe – any further than for the eyeballs of our readers, but both proved popular enough to merit inclusion in our weekly roundup. As always, tune in to Autoblog next week for a front-row seat to all the happenings worth following in the automotive industry. 2019 Ram 1500 spotted without the classic crosshairs 2019 Chevy Silverado spied with new LED accents 2019 Jeep Cherokee reveals a much more normal face 2019 BMW 3 Series spy shots reveal production lights, new interior details 2019 Audi A7 revealed: More torque, refined styling Polestar 1 First Look | The 600 horsepower hybrid Scandinavian Green Audi BMW Chevrolet Jeep RAM Volvo Truck Hatchback SUV Future Vehicles Hybrid Luxury Performance Sedan sunday drive polestar 1

2016 Chevrolet Camaro First Drive [w/video]

Fri, Oct 16 2015

The Autoblog gang was downright stoked to learn the 2016 Chevy Camaro was next on our test-car docket. Then we found out it was the V6 model. Buzzkill. We were hoping for the snorting V8, or at least the spunky new turbo four-cylinder. The V6? Meh. We've been driving V6 Camaros for, like, six years. It's what you buy if you can't afford anything better, or so say horsepower snobs as they wrinkle their noses and cut their coffee with 93 octane. But after a week with the six-pot Camaro, we'll admit it: we were wrong. The all-new 3.6-liter V6 is strong, sounds good, and is damn fun to drive. Its 335 horsepower and 284 pound-feet of torque appear modest by modern standards, but they power the Camaro to 60 miles per hour in 5.1 seconds with the automatic, or in the case of our manual-equipped test car, 5.2 seconds. That's almost half a second quicker than the new turbo four-cylinder model. Yes, it has the same displacement as the old V6. No, it's not the same engine. Upon closer inspection, the V6's potency shouldn't come as a surprise. This engine is from General Motors' newest family of dual-overhead cam powerplants that launched in the Cadillac CTS and ATS. Yes, it has the same displacement as the old V6. No, it's not the same engine. Don't be fooled, and don't underestimate it at stoplights. The strapping V6 is unsuspectingly good, but it's just one of many improvements for the sixth-generation Camaro. Chevy's coupe is lighter, faster, and more modern looking inside and out. It starts with a rear-wheel-drive chassis donated from the Cadillac ATS, though about 70 percent of the components are unique to the Camaro. The 2016 model is about two inches shorter in length (thanks to a shorter wheelbase) and about an inch has been removed from height and width compared to the 2015 model. These lighter underpinnings jumpstarted the Camaro's weight-loss plan, and thanks to extensive use of aluminum, the V6 with the new eight-speed automatic transmission weighs 3,435 pounds – 294 less than its predecessor (the manual-transmission V6 Camaro weighs 3,448 pounds). The V8, meanwhile, sheds 223 pounds. One by one, these elements would merely enhance how the Camaro drives, but taken collectively, they invigorate the new model. It feels much more confident and agile in all circumstances. Put simply, it's a sportier car. The best Super Bowl car commercials from the last 5 years

Wed, Jan 28 2015

If you've been dipping into the Autoblog feed over the past days and weeks, you wouldn't even have to be a sports fan to know the Super Bowl is coming up. Automakers have been teasing their spots for the big game, dropping them days early, fully-formed onto the Internet and otherwise trying to amp up the multi-million-dollar outlays that they've made for air time on the biggest advertising day of the year. And, we're into it. The lead up to the Super Bowl is almost akin to a mini auto show around these parts; with automakers being amongst the most prolific advertisers on these special Sundays. The crop of ads from 2015 looks as strong as ever, but we thought we'd take a quick look back at some of our favorite spots from the last five years. Take a look at our picks – created from a very informal polling of Autoblog editors and presented in no particular order – and then tell us about your recent faves, in Comments. Chrysler, Imported From Detroit Chrysler, Eminem and a lingering pan shot of "The Fist" – it doesn't get much more Motown than 2011's Imported From Detroit. With the weight of our staffers hailing from in and around The D, it's no wonder that our memories still favor this epic Super Bowl commercial (even though the car it was shilling was crap). Imported really set the tone for later Chrysler ads, too, repeated the formula: celebrity endorsement + dramatic copy + dash of jingoism = pulled car-guy heartstrings. Mercedes-Benz, Soul teaser with Kate Upton One of our favorite Super Bowl commercials (and yours, based on the insane number of views you logged) didn't even technically air during the game. Mercedes-Benz teased its eventual spot Soul with 90-seconds worth of Kate Upton threatening to do her best Joy Harmon impression. (Teaser indeed.) It doesn't win points for cleverness, use of music, acting, or any compelling carness, but it proved that Mercedes' advertisers knew how to make a splash in the Internet Age. And, hey, it's still classier than every GoDaddy commercial. Kia, A Dream Car. For Real Life Like the Mercedes video above, the initial draw here is a pretty lady; in this case the always stunning Adriana Lima. But this Kia commercial really delivers the extra effort we expect while scarfing crabby snacks and homemades, too. First of all, Motley Crue. Second, a cowboy on a bucking rhino. Enjoy yet again.
